Welcome to The Lilypad, our tiny lakefront cabin, at Loon Straits, Manitoba. So named because of the frogs that sing and serenade in spring in the pond near by, The Lilypad is the perfect place to reconnect with nature, a favorite person, and simple pleasures.
Step onto the large covered deck and take in the incredible views of the bay and strait beyond. Let the gentle breezes from the lake lull you into a peaceful state in the hammock and hammock chairs. Sip a morning coffee on the deck and watch the pelicans float by. Marvel at the incredible night sky as the fire crackles in the firepit.
Step through the garden doors into the cabin - a little piece of Scandi heaven. The high whitewashed pine celing and white shiplap walls, along with a touch of boho decor, create a beautiful light yet grounded feel in the space.
Although only 10 by 20 feet in diameter, The Lilypad has everything you need to enjoy your time at the lake. The compact kitchen boasts stainless steel countertops, a small sink, a vintage cabinet with everything to set a lovely table. No running water in kitchen area, however it is supplied in the form of rainwater and lake water for washing. All the necessary appliances, including mini fridge, electric hotplate, coffeemaker, and toaster oven are provided so you can create simple meals during your stay. The cutest vintage dining table and chairs round out the kitchen/dining area. In the living/sleeping area the comfy futon opens up to a queen size bed. Also available is a loft style bunk bed that can be placed over the queen bed should you have need of additional sleeping space for a child or second/third guest.
And the piece de resistance! Open up the large modern glass garage door to the deck and take in the incredible lake views from the comfort of your futon bed! Suddenly you have double the living space and an awesome indoor/outdoor cabin. Guests love this feature and we know you will, too!
Just around the corner of the deck, you will find a simple rustic bathroom, which includes a composting toilet and shower, as well as lake-friendly shampoo and soaps.
A large granite rock starts at your front step and extends down to the water. It's the perfect spot for sunbathing on the lounge chairs, a morning yoga stretch, and a late night bbq or campfire. Fish right off your own private rock, or take the plunge into the cool blue waters of Lake Winnipeg. Rent a kayak or canoe and explore the shoreline and tiny islands that dot the bay.
Our adorable teardrop stargazing glamping tent, The Lotus, is situated right next to The Lilypad. Scrumptious soft floor pillows, rugs, and a queen size bed make it the perfect place for snuggling, lounging, napping in the afternoon, and stargazing at night through the clear top.
Enjoy walks to The Channel, biking, hiking to our white sand beaches, stargazing, and watching the dancing lights of Aurora Borealis.
