Splendid rural Chateau / Manor house with a pool for your big family vacation

The property is an ideal peaceful country haven just next to the Pyrenees, 30mins from Spain, and within less than 1h 30mins driving distance from Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and Biarritz, the surfing paradise on the Atlantic coast.

This beautiful rural estate built 400 years ago with ancient river stones and oak beams, consists of a large house of 420m2 and an annex facing each other across a stone, sun-soaked courtyard. With a total of 5 bedrooms in the main house, the place can easily accommodate up to 10 guests at the same time. With some flexibility, it’s possible to house even a few more… The main house has been lovingly and thoughtfully renovated without losing the ”classic charm”. The stone house is wonderfully cool in summer, and cosily warm in winter (floor heating and several fireplaces), so it is ideal for all seasons. There is an annex across the courtyard, which is occupied by a couple who manage the property and are at hand to help if needed. The estate offers enough to keep you busy: a fantastic garden with a large private swimming pool, spacious areas for extensive entertaining and catering, relaxing to the sound of the garden stream that run alongside the property, playing, several outdoor terraces with barbecue and garden furniture, billiard room, library and sauna. For the adventurers the surrounding nature and stunning views of the Pyrenees will provide you with a wide array of hikes and/ or skiing possibilities, as well as adding to the romantic rural setting.

Magnifique maison de maître

La maison est vaste, magnifique et super attachante, on serait bien resté plus longtemps. Équipements et fournitures au top absolu. Maison très propre. Piscine incroyable. Accueil très accueillant, y compris Paco le petit chien de la famille. Un endroit campagnard de rêve. À conseiller absolument

Beautiful English-style Manor

The property is exactly as shown on the picture: it is a beautiful old house, renovated with an English style. We gathered our family and stayed there with two 4y old children for 8 days. The house is really large and we didn't feel crowded at all, despite the weather that kept us inside more than we wanted! Nora, the manager who lives next door with her family is really nice and was helpful all along, lending us bikes and stuff as needed. The kitchen is amazingly well equipped, the coffee machine is fantastic, there are two grills (one charcoal and one gas). Wifi works well on the first floor, gets spotty upstairs. The only thing that didn't work to perfection has been the showers: the water temperature was capricious in some of the bathrooms. Luckily there are 4 different places to take a shower!

An enjoyable, well presented, large & interesting property

Despite average weather for the time of year, our group of 8 (2 families with 4 children aged 9 and 12) enjoyed an excellent week of activity at the Chateau de Précilhon and in the surrounding area. We found the house well kept, excellently presented and as large and interesting as it looks in the photos! The on-site hosts were welcoming, helpful, and let us enjoy the house on our own. The kitchen is well equipped - the few herbs, condiments, etc available were a nice touch - and we made good use of the gas and charcoal BBQs provided. The multitude of bedrooms (with very comfortable beds), sizeable bathrooms and varied ‘living’ areas were more than ample for our group. The large outdoor pool was clean, refreshing and great fun. The surrounding patio and loungers were excellent and easily accessed across the courtyard behind the host’s property. Thank you for loaning us your wonderful property for a week!

Splendid rural chateau indeed!

We had a great week! Our family of ten, ages 15 to 82, had a wonderful holiday. The house is big and breathes history. There’s plenty of room, beautiful details, all you need to cook and linger and enjoy. The pool is big and refreshing, situated in a beautiful garden surrounded by old trees. We visited Pau, Lourdes and Biarritz, all in driving distance and worth a visit. Groceries and everything you need is available at the shops in Oloron Sainte Marie. But as the house and garden have a lot of rooms and corners, staying at home is also a valid option! Thank you Nora, Ross and the girls (and Paco!) for the warm welcome and for making us feel at home. Hope to be back some day to enjoy this.

A wonderful stay in a manor house of real character

This is an absolutely wonderful manor house / mini-chateau. The owners are very friendly and helpful, the house itself is enormous, with more than enough space to give everyone some privacy to read or just lounge around (very important for teenagers) and it's very comfortable. The house has huge character and a great feel to it, and there's everything you need for a great stay. As we travelled in the time of Covid, we didn't go out much but there's a lovely little back garden with shade to eat under and a massive swimming pool which is probably the best we've seen in a private house.

Le charme d’une vieille demeure

Immense propriété/manoir salle de billard bibliothèque, vaste salle à manger, cheminées, canapé chesterfield, chandeliers, mobilier de collection, piano de cuisine La Cornue, barbecue Weber etc. Accueil chaleureux de Nora, de Ross des enfants et de Paco le chien. Vue sur les Pyrénées de la belle piscine. Séjour délicieux What else?
