Enjoy a stay in one of the original farmhouses within Decorah city limits. Located by Luther College, it's a great starting point to explore downtown Decorah, catch a Luther College game, bike the trout run trail, check out the world-renowned Seed Savers, do a craft beer tour (centrally located between Toppling Goliath, Pulpit Rock and Pivo Brewing) or just have quiet weekend getaway. You get the entire 2,100 Sq.Ft. in town farmhouse which has room for up to 8 guests.

Lovely home

Everything was very nice. The house is well maintained and very clean. The kitchen has everything we could want. The beds were comfortable. The location is very quiet. The yard is quite pleasant.

Perfect Stay

The house was perfect for our stay. Extremely clean and homey. It’s in a very quiet area, which I really liked. If the house is available, I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Decorah.

Fun friends getaway

Perfect place for a Decorah escape

We very much enjoyed our time in Decorah and staying at this beautiful property. A perfect place to come home to after a day of kayaking, biking and golfing.

Decorah Delight!

Great yard space for the kids to play, location very convenient, and lots of space to spread out inside. There is a "nearly free" EV charging station within walking distance of the house which was very convenient! Enjoyed our stay and great communication with the owners.

Sisters' Getaway

We were three sisters and a cousin on a short visit with family and to connect with our heritage at Vesterheim. The house is clean, fresh, and very spacious. Hardwood floors are beautiful and the kitchen is huge and well laid out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again.

Reunited with friends

Its hard to find a good place for 2 families of 4! But this checked all of the boxes! Plenty of room for us all. Kitchen space was plenty amd thr fire pit was great! We hiked and enjoyed the area breweries. Kids loved the hatchery!

Great spot for family!

We were visiting friends for a wedding and needed a place that would fit all 6 of us for several days. The property is beautiful... A historic home that has been kept up well, with added modern amenities (a second bathroom, etc.). The neighborhood is quiet and is close to the downtown area. We loved it and really enjoyed our stay and the owners were just lovely - checked in multiple times and left us a little note and some cookies upon arrival. Thank you so much for hosting our family!

great for weekend getaway

Great location, very clean. Listed as sleeping 8, but in reality beds were a problem -footboards on 2 of them proved difficult for regular sized adults and the bunk beds are suitable for children only. Suggest putting queens in the 3 BR that do not have them.

October 2023 Sister Get-Away

This was perfect for us sisters to gather and stay in one place to be able to share stories, laugh, gather around the fire pit and just relax!!! This property was close to everything downtown and walking/hiking trails. Showers were amazing and had a lot of pressure. The only downside for us, was not having curtains/blinds on all the windows downstairs; the grass was pretty long but a minor issue. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend this place.

Mom's favorite VRBO!

We loved this home. It had such a nice blend of original details as well as updated features. My 82 year old mother called this "her favorite place" to stay. We have rented many VRBO homes, and were so excited to stay at this over 100 year old home on top of a hill in Decorah IA. Last year was a tough year, not being able to see family for so many months. This was a bright spot, something to plan and look forward to for all of us. Mattine was very fast in responding, check in was so easy. Instructions were clear and short (no 4 pages on this one). The home was spotless. This is a lot of house and we all fit very comfortably. There was even a little sitting area for reading, or just relaxing. The internet was very fast, easy to connect to, and the TV was so simple to operate (this for a family that just learned about YouTube). We found a community thrift store in town, and several Amish homes within 25 miles (candy and bakery!) We also made our way to Prairie du Chien for delicious steaks and salad bar at Angus Supper Club. We would for sure stay here again as soon as we have an opportunity. Thank you Mattine.
