The town of Bala has a unique history as one of Muskoka’s early railway-access resort destinations in the early 1900s. In fact, our cottage was once part of a summer resort cluster built in the 1950s! Over the years, Bala has welcomed travelers, artists, musicians, and generations of summer visitors drawn to its lakeside charm and character. Staying here offers more than a cottage getaway - it’s a chance to experience authentic Muskoka while stepping back into the character of a historic railway town, where cottages, lakes, and community grew side by side and the rhythms of Muskoka life have continued for generations.
