Frank's Place – Mid-Century Farmhouse & Horse Riders’ Haven
Summary:
Affectionately known as “Frank’s Place,” this mid-century farmhouse sits on 600 acres of rolling green hills, offering privacy, comfort and hours of scenic riding trails.
Whether you’re a horse rider or simply seeking space to unwind, it’s the perfect base to explore the Northern Rivers and experience life on a genuine working cattle farm where mid century design meets open paddocks. Sleeps 6.
Please note: we do not provide horses. Guests wishing to ride must bring their own.
The Space:
Frank’s Place is a relaxed mid-century farmhouse made for unwinding, entertaining, or saddling up to explore. Whether you’re travelling with horses or simply craving quiet country time, it’s easy to settle in, spread out and feel at home.
Two secure horse yards are available for guests bringing horses, with hours of riding straight from the back gate. Wind through rolling hills, pause at scenic picnic spots and take in wide country views along the way.
Inside, the original farmhouse charm remains, thoughtfully refreshed with polished timber floors, light-filled rooms and subtle updates that modernise without losing character.
The retro-inspired kitchen is fully equipped for everyday cooking, with quality utensils and appliances. You’ll find the essentials on arrival — tea, coffee, milk, oil, spices and pantry basics — so you can settle in without rushing to the shops.
The living room is bright and comfortable, with air-conditioning and heating, generous seating and a large smart TV. Reliable Wi-Fi makes streaming, planning or checking in with work easy when needed. Ceiling fans throughout and screened windows allow for natural airflow.
Bed configuration:
Bedroom 1 – King bed
Bedroom 2 – Queen bed with double pull-out sofa and dedicated workspace
All beds include quality mattresses and linen.
The bathroom has been fully updated and features a generous rain shower, along with a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. A separate internal laundry with washing machine and dryer makes longer stays practical and easy.
Outside, enjoy the private backyard and outdoor bath perfectly positioned for sunset views across the paddocks. A firepit, BBQ and outdoor seating create an ideal space to watch the sun drop behind the hills with a drink in hand.
Guest Access:
Frank’s Place is completely private and self-contained, with its own secure gated entry and undercover parking. Self check-in is available via a locked key box at the gate, so you can arrive at your own pace after the designated check-in time.
You’re welcome to explore the farm on foot or by horseback, with trail access directly from the back gate. Please note that horses are not provided — riders will need to bring their own.
As this is a working farm, staff may occasionally access the property to attend to the cattle. We do our best to give notice whenever possible. Guests are welcome to say hello, ask questions and chat with staff if you’re curious about the day-to-day farm work.
The Neighborhood:
You’ll be hard-pressed to disturb the neighbours here. Frank’s Place is surrounded by mature trees and wide-open paddocks, with the back verandah looking out over rolling hills and distant farms. It’s peaceful, quiet and tucked away from the world.
The property is within easy reach of some of the Northern Rivers’ best natural attractions and townships. The Border Ranges National Park is right on the doorstep, offering rainforest walks, scenic lookouts, swimming holes and picnic spots. Kyogle — your nearest hub — has cafés, pubs, boutique stores, groceries and weekend markets.
Casino, Nimbin and the wider Northern Rivers region are all an easy drive, with plenty of opportunities for day trips, bushwalking, swimming and sampling local produce. The area is also known for its thriving arts scene, community events and warm country hospitality.
Whether you spend your days riding the trails, exploring national parks or simply soaking up the quiet of the countryside, Frank’s Place gives you a peaceful base to return to.
Getting Around:
Kyogle town is just a 6-minute drive away, and having your own vehicle is highly recommended for getting around the area. There is a limited taxi service in Kyogle, and public buses run on weekdays if you’re planning to explore nearby communities.
Kyogle offers everything you need for a relaxed day out — cafés, local shops, artisan makers and a couple of classic country pubs for a cold drink after a day of exploring. If you’re keen to venture further, Nimbin’s quirky charm is a short drive away, Lismore offers arts, culture and regular local events, and Byron Bay is a little over an hour away if beach time is calling.
Other Things to Note:
Exterior security cameras are positioned at the gate and entry areas for safety and smooth check-ins. There are no cameras inside the home or in private spaces.
Farm staff may come and go during your stay as required for livestock management. We aim to minimise disruption.
Pets — including horses — are welcome; however, a short liability disclaimer must be signed prior to arrival and will be provided during the booking process.
A full house manual — including house rules, Wi-Fi details and local recommendations — is available inside the home.
Interaction with Guests:
Frank’s Place is owned and operated by Greenmountain Farms. Your property manager is only a phone call away throughout your stay and can assist with any enquiries or requests.
As this is a working farm, you may occasionally see Greenmountain staff moving cattle or tending to the property. They’re a friendly crew — feel free to say g’day or ask questions if you’re curious about the day-to-day farm life.
