Aokidaira Little Retreat

Our guesthouse is an 18-year-old, 83-square-meter, one-story house situated on a hill called Aokidaira in Fujinomiya City.
The house features walls and floors made entirely of cedar planks and is furnished with antique pieces, including a wood-burning stove. These features create a very relaxed atmosphere.

Also, the garden features a cherry tree and a softscape of wild grasses such as herbs. Guests can experience a particular season.
We accommodate only one group at a time so that guests can enjoy a relaxing stay.

【Guests can stay for up to 54 hours.】
The minimum stay at the retreat is two nights and three days. With this basic plan, guests can stay for up to 54 hours—a big attraction. Enjoy a relaxing stay without feeling rushed on your final day.

Check-in is from 11:00 AM and check-out is as late as 5:00 PM.




【Wonderful View】
From the window,you can see Mount Fuji,a part of the everyday scenery.
Even a short walk will take you to a viewpoint where you can see Mt. Fuji stretching all the way to its base--it's truly magnificent.
Taking a walk around the house in the morning and evening air is also invigorating.


【Accommodations】
The bathroom has an Izu-stone floor and guests can enjoy putting herbs in the bathtub. Guests can also experience traditional Japanese culture through features such as retro tableware, needlework dishcloths, and bamboo baskets. Guests who appreciate traditional Japanese culture are very welcome.

【Bedtime Comfort】
The bedroom shutters can be closed while you are in bed. This will create an environment that soothes all your senses.
The two-layer futons, consisting of a hand-beaten cotton layer and a urethane layer, are light and warm and provide a peaceful night's sleep.
The futon sheets are made of 100% cotton. The towels are those made in Imabari City, which is renowned for its high-quality towels.

【Beverages and Food】
The water used at the guesthouse is spring water from Mount Fuji, and is used to make coffee, tea, etc. You are also free to pick seasonal herbs, vegetables, or even blueberries from the garden when in season. Basic seasonings are available.
If possible, we can provide guests free of charge with locally grown fresh vegetables and eggs, Fujinomiya rice, or bread from a nearby bakery.
We are also happy to recommend local restaurants for those who prefer dining out.
【Guesthouse Rules】
• Adults only: To ensure a quiet environment, guests must be aged 12 or over. Two guests are recommended, with a maximum of four.
•
• Indoor air precaution: Smoking and strong perfumes are prohibited in the house to protect the cedar planks.
•
• BBQ: Out of consideration for neighbors, barbecue in the garden is recommended during daylight hours or must be ended by 8:00 PM. Charcoal is provided free of charge. Just bring your favorite ingredients.

• About the owner: The owner lives on the same property. If you have trouble, please do not hesitate to contact the owner for help. Otherwise, guests' privacy will be respected during their stay.



宮大工の手による自然素材の小庵

ゆったりした敷地(約４１８㎡)の中に佇む小庵(約86㎡)。壁や床、天井に至るまでビニールクロスなどの人工素材を使わず、天然素材にこだわって宮大工が仕上げた、杉造りの心地よい空間が広がります。
薪ストーブのあるリビング横の和室からは富士山が望め、寝室となる和室には雪見障子が。清潔で機能的なキッチンや伊豆石を使ったバスルームもこの小庵の魅力です。
野趣溢れる庭の一画には、山小屋風のバーベキューピットをご用意しています。
