Beach & Bay Access: Access down to Whanarua Bay is via a single-lane road opposite the Macadamia Farm Cafe sign. Automated Traffic Lights: Traffic at the top and bottom of the hill is managed by automated lights. Red Light: Stop and wait for oncoming vehicles. Light Off: Proceed with care. Access to the bay passes over private land—please respect the environment and exercise caution. Vehicle access and parking at the beach are strictly limited during peak holiday seasons, so guests are encouraged to walk the short, scenic path down to the water.
Important Note Regarding Water Supply: Please note that Whanarua Bay is on a community water scheme currently under a Boil Water Notice. Tap water should be brought to a rolling boil before using it for drinking, food preparation, making ice, or brushing teeth. We recommend picking up some bottled drinking water on your way through Ōpōtiki or Te Kaha!
Damage Deposit: A $250 pre-authorisation hold is required 2 days prior to check-in. This is not a charge and is released after checkout if no issues arise.
