The Swedish Orchard Farm is the perfect place to enjoy a true Door County setting for your family vacation or to host your wedding or special event. This farm will be all yours and has a five acre cherry orchard that blooms in late May. In the fall the maples in the yard light up in reds, oranges, and yellows. All eight acres are yours for hiking and exploring. Please feel free to pick any fruit on the farm which ranges from plums, apples, raspberries, and apricots- just to name a few!
Bonfires with complimentary fire wood is right out your back door. Enjoy a dark, starry sky while watching the fire crackle. Beach Road is pedestrian friendly- bicyclists, runners, walkers, families with strollers is a common scene here. Don't forget to enjoy the sunset from the front porch with a view of the yards' mature maple trees, and dense woods and the bay below. Outdoor dining is an option on the back deck; it's also a great place to sun bathe, read a book, or enjoy drinks with friends.
For those looking to work from the farm, the internet is currently the fastest in the county thanks to requests of neighbors working from their homes. Multiple streaming is possible and the homes' internet will handle all your platforms- from zoom meetings to fast downloads and uploads. The front porch is a popular choice for working while still remaining in touch with the outdoor surroundings.
This property is situated exactly between Sister Bay and Ellison Bay so a quick run to the Ellison Bay General Store for a forgotten item is easy if you want to avoid bustling Sister Bay. At the south end of Beach Road is the Ice Cream Factory with home made ice cream, sandwiches and pizza. On the north end the road comes to a T- turning left down a steep hill leads to a remote rocky beach. Heading right at the end of Beach Road will bring you to the most beautiful park in the area- Ellison Bluff County Park. This gem is a best kept secret and has hiking trails and a stunning bay facing overlook. Another park north of Ellison Bay is called Door Bluff Headlands and is accessible all the way to the water, if your an experienced hiker. It is steep, remote and amazingly beautiful.
Due to our abundant wildlife and the fact that there are houses nearby, even though they are hidden in the trees, we ask that you do not bring any weapons onto the property, not even a sling shot as all the creatures here are welcome without fear or threats from people. The wildlife is harmless to all people and we do not have poisonous animals in the county. We do have deer, fox, rabbits, a rare pine or garter snake, a variety of squirrels, eagles, turkeys, gulls, and song birds.
Although there are too many species to list, the animals are residents of this farm. On a very rare occasion there has been black bear spotted but your chances of seeing one is next to zero. Wolves too are very rare but we do have coyotes moving through in pursuit of rabbits. Due to the coyote presence, please don't let your dogs unattended at night. Day time romps through the orchard is what dogs live for, but during the evenings your dogs should be close to you or leashed. Coyotes are fearful of even a human scent so all will be well for you and your pets.
Reach out to me about anything, including questions of the area. I'll respond typically with a text. So get ready to decompress, relax and soak up the beauty of this property. It is an amazing peaceful place that has to be experienced to comprehend. As one guest commented, "The place was amazingly quiet and peaceful. We felt like we had the whole top of the peninsula to ourselves."
Please note that home improvements are on-going so most people are pleasantly surprised as the pictures are typically lagging from the upgrades of furnishings and added items to make everyone's stay the best imaginable. There is a pack n' play, hair products, bath products for the claw foot soaking tub, lawn games, an Alexa for music, night time lighting on the back deck, as well as the beauty of the yard and area that can not be captured in pictures, but must be experienced.
I hope you can come and enjoy your own piece of this paradise! I appreciate your interest and I will be attentive to any needs.
