With plenty of room for the kids to play outside and a wide array of entertaining amenities, Papa's Mountain is that mountain getaway you've been looking for! This family and dog-friendly retreat offers its lucky guests an open floor plan that combines the kitchen, dining area, and living room for even more togetherness with your group. The interior decor is filled with elegant wooden touches here and there, providing that much-desired rural atmosphere. Gather around the gas stove during winter nights and share wholesome moments with your family or friends. The private pool table will add entertainment to the equation–you can host a pool tournament and challenge your friends to a fun time! The kitchen is spacious and has all the amenities you could need to whip up anything, from full-course meals to snacks on-the-go. However, if you'd like to spice things up a little bit more, outside you can find a propane BBQ and the deck is conveniently equipped with an outdoor dining area.

Downtown Shaver Lake is a short two-mile drive up north where you'll find several dining options, supermarkets, and more! Shaver Lake offers great summer sports, activities, and events along the shores of our lake. Shaver Lake (the lake) is perfect for boating and fishing. Horseback riding along the shores of the lake is an unforgettable activity you can try.

The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

We stayed here previously and returned because it’s spacious and reasonably priced in a beautiful snowy mountain setting. It works well for a family getaway, but there are some important things to know:Pros:-Spacious layout for groups-Beautiful location-Fair price for the sizeCons / Things to Be Aware Of:-No Wi-Fi (this should be made very clear in the listing)-Very limited TV channels and no streaming capability-Central heat does not work (fireplace and space heaters are provided, but it takes time to warm up—approximately 24 hours)-Could use a more thorough cleaningOverall, this is a good option if you’re prepared and for a more unplugged, rustic stay and understand the trade-offs.

Great location and private property. Very convenient to everything Shaver Lake/Dinky Creek. Cleanliness was the only knock on the property. It could have been cleaned much better but property management was always quick to respond to questions and if you are visiting the area you should be spending most of your time outdoors anyway. Would stay again.

The house was great, beautiful deck, nice vaulted ceilings, easy move in. The deck has a nice view and the trees were blocking most of the sun so the interior didn't get too hot. Could use a deep cleaning.

Our stay in Paradise (minus cleanliness)

An amazing location and property. Quiet and well designed home with a very comfortable layout. Just needs a deep cleaning including removing very visible stains from walls… and dust on all surfaces including low light fixtures.

Loved all the big windows and the convenient location. There were some things I didn't like such as the lack of cleanliness, examples are dirty floors, counter tops, trash can, shower curtain, bath tub and dingy old blankets. Some blankets were moving blankets, good thing I brought some of my own.

Spacious Stay but Needs Better Cleanliness & Management

We stayed at this property for a winter getaway from February 7-9. The layout is spacious and worked well for our family, and the location is conveniently close to the main road. We also enjoyed the high ceilings and the nice balcony.However, the overall quality of the space was subpar. Cleanliness was an issue—linens were not as fresh as expected, light fixtures were dusty, and the space didn’t feel thoroughly cleaned. The upstairs shower took too long to heat up, and check-out time was too early, especially since the cleaner arrived before we had even checked out. Also, finding the key box was confusing due to unclear instructions.While the space has potential, better cleanliness, clearer instructions, and a more reasonable check-out time would make the stay much more enjoyable.

This property had a lot of broken things like furniture, railings, shower knobs, towel holders. The shower upstairs came out like a water hose but had a shower head and the hot water never came out. It was not clean, the floors had a lot of dust a crumbs, the oven needed to be cleaned before use. Some dishes were not cleaned when pulled from cupboards.There were spider webs. One of the sliding doors was hard to open because the crud in the trades.no trash bags but the one that was in the trash can when we got there. Furniture that was not broken was wobbly. It was very spacious in the cabin, the pool table helped with passing time, the deck was spacious,and in a good location. The neighbor was a little snotty when asking for help directions. Honestly if this house was cleaner and so many things were not broken it would be a cute place to stay

It’s okay

I do like the cabin I think it’s beautiful but It can definitely be cleaned up a lot more and updated but also the bathroom door and bedroom door downstairs locked on me several times… the door locks it self from both sides so they need to fix that. I really like the kitchen area though it was nice set up. The shower upstairs is super small and dirty. There’s no tv downstairs just one small tv upstairs in the master bedroom. There’s no wifi. They can definitely fix it up but other than those things it was a fun getaway.

Cleanliness

I wanted to love this cabin but I just couldn’t get over how dirty it was. It was so bad we left a day early. I cannot even begin to understand why we are charged a ridiculous fee for cleaning when it was far from being clean. A few examples being that the fridge had blood from meat that had sat in there, also human hair in the fridge. Bathtub/showers had dirt and hair as well as a blue sheen of some type of cleaning product that was sprayed on and left. We will not be staying at this cabin again. It has so much potential and it’s unfortunate that the owners don’t take more pride in fixing it up a bit

Mountain getaway

We have stayed here in the past a couple of times. We love how big the cabin is. Loved the pool table to keep everyone entertained. Upstairs master bed was horrible, it is a box spring on top of a box spring ( so no mattress). It was definitely not comfortable and I could hardly sleep without my hips or back hurting. The white microwave above the stove was disgusting, good thing there was a spare one on the counter. The dishwasher was full of dishes still from the previous tenants and, I don't know if they were clean or dirty. Could've used more rugs on the inside next to the 3 sliding glass doors since it had snowed and all of the outside rugs were wet. Overall we had a good time playing in the snow and playing pool, but for the price you pay it really should be clean.

Dirtiest place I’ve ever stayed in

The kitchen was dirty. We could see glass rings on the counter tops, dirty, floor rugs that in the bathrooms were nasty. There were yellow water rings and dog fur all over the back of the floor rugs. Ripped screen door. They had a small 2 person futon as a couch. It was so dirty that nobody wanted to sit on it. When we arrived i went to put there groceries in the fridge and realized that it was not working. The temp outside was about 88. They couldn’t send a tech out, out 300.00 worth of food went bad. The beds were disgusting. Broken down. Looked underneath the bed after I had slept on it and was again disgusted. Carpet was filthy and the bed had 2 cement blocks and ripped duct tape holding it up. The bead was broken down in the middle. Needless to say, we all had an uncomfortable time and spent most of our time outside. Waste of money. The entire place was unacceptable

Way too filthy!

The Cabin is flat out filthy. I cannot belieive that a business that owns this cabin would allow such a place to be borderline uninhabitable. The amount of dust everywhere in unbelievable. I purposely requested the place be cleaned after reading another reviewers comments, especially since I was bringing aninfant, and long story short, anyone walking barefoot, or baby crawling on the floor, were left with black marks and dust all over the skin. The air is so dusty and stale. There is no AC unit, only heating, but the air filter looked like it hadn't been changed in years. By the end of the 3 night stay, multiples people left with sick or suffered severee allergies. Not good, expecially if one is worried about COVID. I almost cancelled and headed home 3 hours away on the first night. There is no bear safe place to throw trash, just a few cans outside the door with basic plastic lids. I figured they knew something about the local animals that we didn't so we emptied our trash on night 2. Sure enough, a small bear came and scattered the trash all over the dirt, but luckily I caught it in the act in the early AM and was able to run him off. We kept the stinky trash inside the home the rest of the stay. The pool table looks great on picture, but is warped pretty good. Of the approximately 10 pool cue sticks hanging on the wall, only 1 had a tip to chalk, the rest were bare to the plastic. I saw the seating in the pictures and was a little concerned, but after trying it out, I cannot stress enough, the place is not that big, and comfortable couch seating is limited. There is more but I'll leave with this, I, nor anyone of my friends or family, will be booking a place owned by this local vacation business in the future. PS. As soon as you book through VRBO, they send out there own VACASA app for you to sign up and manage your trip. I regret creating the account, becuase now they have been email spamming me with their other vacation homes.

Not comfortable

Arrived at the house and check in was easy but the house is dingy and not comfortable. Only one couch and soft chair. There were brown recluse spiders everywhere even got one crawling on me in the middle of the night. Needs a good deep clean occasionally and pest control.

Had a great stay at this cabin. The first day there was an issue with the hot water but they quickly sent someone out to fix it. The house was very clean, The pool table was great and the gas stove was a nice touch as it was very cold up there. Would definitely stay here again.

Loved the location love what the place had to offer and very secluded and quiet this is actually the second time I've been here this year. Highly recommend it.

Weekend Getaway at Shaverlake

Very close to town just a few minutes away. Also close to main road, quick and easy access. House is very nice. I do recommend to add better cookware. We struggled a lot to make breakfast as all pans did not work and our food was getting stuck on pan. Also there was not much of utensil such as knives, bowls, cups etc. Bedrooms were nice with plenty of room but beds were not comfortable at all. Overall we made everything work to have a great time. We also took walks in the "backyard" into the woods which was very relaxing. It has a huge deck but definitely needs a fire pit of some sort.
