Great place to enjoy the beach!

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay and wish it could have been longer. Well equipped, kitchen, plenty of linens furnished. Magnificent views of the ocean. Alan was a great host and quick to respond. I definitely recommend this to others.

A Great Beach Retreat!

My fiancée and I really enjoyed ourselves this past weekend. The condo was clean, organized and offers an awesome location. I will say the bed was comfortable which was a first for me at a beach rental. Alan is a nice guy to deal with. He has your best interests in mind. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay with Sacred Sands again!

Fabulous vacation and experience

What a perfect last minute getaway! Alan was so responsive and helpful, from the time we booked to when we headed home. The condo was right on the beach and perfect for our family of four. The pictures are true to life. The king bed was incredibly comfortable. In fact in 18 years of renting beach houses it was the most comfortable bed we have ever had. The view was amazing. We loved the deck furniture! The beach chairs were a nice added treat. The colors and decorations were very beach’s my and perfect. Just an amazing experience!

Our stay at sacred sands

Overall this was a good experience for a beach front stay during the summer. Alan was very responsive, allowed a slightly late check out (11am instead of 10am), and these condos are right on the water. The views are great and it's a quiet area, which we love. We've stayed at various condos in the same building for 5+ years and like the location. Our only complaint is that the prices have gone up considerably since the updates they made after the hurricane in 2019, but the updates don't seem to match the cost increase. The paint and new countertops are nice, but they still have a musty odor (especially the kitchen cabinets. We had to pull dishes out and wash them before using them and then kept them on the counters because they had an odor otherwise) and there weren't any major upgrades. The condos are still cooled with wall units and the kitchens are VERY tiny. It's a lovely weekend spot, but a longer stay might be hard.

Sarah- we want to thank you again for choosing to stay with us, an experienced traveler like yourself is truly enjoyable to host. We are very sorry to hear you were unsatisfied with the kitchen, our efforts to install granite countertops with a floating bar were an attempt to wow guests during their stay. The real wood cabinets do retain some of the moisture in the air and we have had a very wet and humid summer. We can assure you the pots, pans and dishes in the fully stocked kitchen are spotlessly clean and are deeply sorry you felt the need to wash them pre-use. In the future, please communicate with us your concerns so we could offer suggestions on how to help such as switching the AC into dehumidifying mode. We appreciate your feedback and wish you well on future travels to Topsail Island.

Beach Life at its Best!

I have never been to North Topsail and it did not disappoint! First and foremost, Alan (owner) is AMAZING!!! There was a slight issue during my stay in the building- but Alan came out fighting with the Association to make it right immediately! His attentiveness and advocacy was what ensured this trip wasn’t problematic and was beyond appreciated. The condo is perfect with everything you need to enjoy yourself on the beach or hang on the deck - which is where I spent most of my time. I do suggest bringing what you need as locations to buy necessities is not exactly right around the corner but the drive there is scenic and as long as you plan ahead you can be prepared for a relaxing and extremely enjoyable vacation! I highly recommend this property and for sure recommend working with Alan! His intent is to ensure your trip is everything you hoped for and this trip was a success! I could not have asked for a more relaxing four days and am already making plans to return!

Could've been better

This is a great little condo especially the location however it needs some TLC. The screen door to the balcony is not secure and falls off the track. The table on the balcony is rusty and of course wet. I got rust stains on my new shirt from that table. The new kitchen counter is very nice but the silverware and pots and pans all need replacing. The knives are dull and the pots and pans and silverware are all very used and worn. This unit in general felt rather uncared for. For the price being asked, a renter could do much better for an oceanfront.

I understand we snuck in at a discounted price this year so we were just wondering what it would be for the week just before Memorial Day next year. Thx." -Kathy This was the last communication we received from you during your stay with us. We always welcome constructive feedback from our guests but we were very much hurt by your review. It is hard to believe that someone who was so eager to stay with us again next year had such a negative experience. We do feel that by us not being able to honor the prime time/summer holiday 2022 price (which was heavily discounted) for 2023 played some part in this review that seems like retaliation- especially when you chose to comment on the price. We went above and beyond to offer you a refund when you notified us about your back injury which resulted in you arriving a couple of days after your check in. Being 12 hours away we rely heavily on our guests and our cleaners to make us aware of any issues or upkeep that requires attention. In the unit you stayed in we just recently had an electrician on site for rewiring of the bathroom and bedroom as well as installing a brand new air conditioner in the bedroom- necessities for a guests' stay. We actually replaced the screen door to the balcony and had maintenance done on the slider itself less than a year ago- however, being at times on-top-of the ocean lends itself to more harsh wear and tear with the constant moisture and salinity. We do apologize about your shirt. We have had an outdoor table sitting in our storage unit waiting for a handyman to assemble- but given recent labor shortages in the area and this not being a task of priority, it has not yet been replaced. Since reading your review we have already ordered a new knife set and kitchen items that you alerted us to needing replacement- these are very simple fixes that we are always on top of as soon as they are brought to our attention. We do want to point out that you didn't state these items were dirty or unclean, rather just "worn" and not shiny and brand new. Kitchen items tend to get worn, whether in a rental or a personal home. We have never once had a guest mention these specific things to us neither publicly nor privately (much more reviews on other platforms). We were prompt to do these things because we do care about our unit (deeply) and guest experience. As a small family of three, we renovated this unit which was sold to us less than 2 years ago as a "turnkey rental", from carpet, green walls, and a rotting counter top- entirely ourselves. This is where we, now a family of 4, vacation to and make memories. It is very disappointing that your stay with us has been reduced to dull kitchen knives and the only highlight for you was our countertop. We pride ourselves on managing our guests' expectations and being completely honest and transparent about our properties. It does not seem like we were a good match as guest and host even before your booking over a year ago. We wish you better luck if you choose to return to Topsail, and we hope you do, because it really is such an amazing place. All the best, The Martins

Great trip

Highly recommend this property. Direct oceanfront, less than a two minute walk from the balcony to the beach. Alan is great with communication and does everything he can to make your stay perfect. I highly recommend that anyone stay at this property!

The Topsail Reef HOA is a very unique condo complex- you can literally not get any closer to the ocean! During high-tides the water comes right up to the sandbags- at first it may be a little worrisome, but rest-assured the building is safe! It is incredibly calming to sit out on the balcony staring out at miles and miles of endless ocean while listening to the waves crashing below. As one guest put it (paraphrasing!)- it's like being on a cruise ship without the people, motion sickness, & norovirus! The town & HOA work diligently every year on beach nourishment projects.

We also love "The Reef" because of its tranquil and low-key atmosphere (nothing like the crowded beaches up north) and its proximity to the inlet, which is a great place to take a walk and comb the beach for treasures.

This unit specifically is located in building 8, which has a "sweet spot" for beach access unlike the other buildings within the HOA that can be completely cut off from accessing the beach during high tides. While you may have to get your feet a little wet and be strategic in timing the waves, you should be able to access the beach even during high tides.
