Happy Ours Lake Front Retreat

Happy Ours is the original name of our cozy cottage that is a small single story original cottage on Dake Lake (Part of the Chain O' Lakes) in Waupaca, WI. We can sleep 4 people comfortably with 2 bedrooms (1 full size bed and 1 -twin size bunk bed). We do have an additional twin daybed in the living room as well for overflow. Our cottage is quaint and small and meant for one couple, or a small single family looking to getaway and relax on a quiet lake.

Dake Lake is a quiet no wake lake with access to the rest of the busy parts of the chain just around the bend. The famous Wheelhouse Pizza and Scoopers Ice Cream Shop are within walking distance from our cottage. The cottage has been renovated and completely updated inside. We also have a very large back deck overlooking the lake with plenty of seating and a gas grill for cooking and gas fire pit to enjoy at night. Our lakefront offers a shallow hard bottom sand beach. We allow our guests to also use our canoe and 4 kayaks (2 adult and 2 teen size), beach toys, and water floatation devices during their stay. We also have space on our pier to park a boat should you want to rent one from a local marina or bring your own for your stay.

We will provide clean sheets for all the beds, but please plan to bring the remainder of your linens/blankets (towels for kitchen, beach, bath). We do not have a washer or dryer at the house so please plan accordingly. There is a laundry mat nearby if needed.

Unfortunately, we are no longer allowing pets of any size or type in our rental. We are sorry for this inconvenience.

Excellent Quaint Cabin on Quiet Chain Lake

We stayed for 5 days and my family (wife and 2 girls loved it) it was a record heat week (90’s) but the cabin cooled down to 70 at night. We really enjoyed the quiet Dake Lake, swim raft, and paddle board. We also rented a boat from Petersen Marina and were able to tie it up on the dock. For sleeping my teenager chose the bedroom with the bunk beds and my 8 year old chose the daybed in the living room. The loft area was too hot due to the extreme weather (nothing wrong with the cabin). It was very comfortable and would absolutely recommend and stay again!! 5-Stars

Relaxing week on Dake Lake

We had a fantastic week on this slow - no wake lake. Nice deck overlooking the water was a highlight!! We rented a pontoon for the week and also had our kayaks. We definitely took advantage of the many lakes on the Chain. Host was very responsive to questions and provided detailed information ahead of our stay. We hope to come again next year!!

Perfect Stay

This is our 3rd time visiting and it’s always the highlight of the summer. Great for kids. Friendly neighbors. Dake Lake is also a great spot on the chain.

A Magical Week

This was our second time staying here. We love the character of the cabin and the "up north" feeling that it gives us. Kids spend hours on the hard sand frontage. Planning on going back again next year!

Nice cottage with a great view of the lake

My husband and I stayed a week at Tiffany’s cottage and it was a wonderful stay. The cottage is decorated nicely and it was clean and neat. The back deck was very relaxing with a pretty lake view. The no wake lake made it nice to go out on the kayaks. The cottage had everything we needed. We would go back again.

Excellent Vacation Rental!

The cottage was cozy, charming & clean. It's apparent a lot of thought went into making this cottage the perfect getaway. Our stay was so peaceful & relaxing. The large deck provided magnificent views of the lake. We enjoyed the daily use of the kayaks that were provided in the rental. The neighbors were also very pleasant! Tiffany was extremely helpful durng the rental process & responded quickly to any questions that I had. We hope to stay again. Highly recommend!!

Great Family Cabin

The cabin was perfect for our family with two young kids. It had everything we needed except the items we were told to bring like towels and blankets. Tiffany was great to work with and the check-in process was easy. The location on a secluded lake is ideal and the neighbors were very friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Little Cottage!

We had a great stay at Happy Ours! Our 5 and 7 year old girls played by the shore for hours everyday. It was perfect for the size of our family. Neighbors were very friendly as well

We love Happy Ours Cottage!

We had a wonderful time staying at Happy Ours cottage! Check-in was super simple, and the sweet little cabin couldn't have been nicer. Everything was neat and clean, with a huge deck where we spent most of our time (when we weren't swimming). The location can't be beat! Neighbors were welcoming, and the host of Happy Ours kindly answered any questions we had. We'd love to stay at this great cottage again...we made a lot of great memories, and felt relaxed and cozy during our time there!

Cozy Cabin in an unbeatable location

This is a very cozy cabin. We stayed with 2 kids and 2 adults. The main attraction here is the great swimming area with sandy bottom and a little beach. We spent most of our time on the lakes, kayaking and swimming. The location is ideal for reaching any of the lakes by boat. The kids loved the loft and bunk bed. Mom and dad are both tall, so the double bed was a little crowded, but we knew that coming into it. Note that while linens are included, blankets are not, so make sure to leave a little space in the car for your blankets. The grill was functional but not really usable. All the other amenities were totally serviceable. We had a great time!

Cute cottage on Dake Lake

This cute little cottage provided then perfect home base for our week-long visit with family in the area. Love how close it is to The Wheelhouse and Scoopers. The neighbors were very friendly and understanding of our early-rising children. Although the weather was rainy we did get a sunny warm day and the kids were able to swim in the shallow water by the dock. The beach area is small but sandy and perfect for our little ones 10/10, would recommend! :)

Great family vacation

This property was perfect for our family of 6 (2 adults, 4 kids ranging from ages 3 to 12). The loft was a fun sleeping spot for the older 2 kids and the bunks were perfect for the younger two. The lake was very low traffic and quiet while we were there, which we loved. The neighbors were super friendly and helped our kids with their fishing lines and even let us fish off their dock. They also let us tie off our portable raft to their buoy. The deck with gas fire pit was an ideal spot to hang out when not in the water. Our only very small complaint was the amount of weeds around the dock area. It was sandy and clear near the shore for the little kids to swim/play but we had to go out to our portable raft for the adults & older kids to get away from the weeds. Overall, not a problem at all if you plan for it. We absolutely loved everything else about our stay. The owners were very responsive and helpful with tips/suggestions throughout the booking process and leading up to our trip. Would highly recommend!

Happiness on a Lake = )

The property is exactly as seen in the pictures. It has everything you need for your perfect getaway. We had a wonderful time enjoying everything that this lake and all it’s connecting lakes had to offer. The community was friendly and we look forward to visiting Waupaca again. Highly recommend getting ice cream at Scoopers and breakfast at Little Fat Gretchen’s.

We had an absolute blast at this place. We went to paddle board and relax. We were able to explore 9 lakes that all connected to this property. The deck was so nice for relaxing on at night and local food was a walk down the road. The community is nice and friendly too.

Summer Vacation

Nice quiet lake - our children loved kayaking, fishing, paddle boarding (we brought our own). Very relaxing. Property has all the necessary amenities. Close to home, but away from it all!

Awesome location, super clean and cozy!

The cottage is in a great location, on a quiet lake, but close and easy to get to to all the chain activity. Easy walk to The Wheelhouse and Scoopers. The home was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The deck overlooking the lake is just beautiful! We would love to come back!

My husband and I purchased the property in 2014, the year our first child was born. We have 2 kids now (5 and 8 years old) and enjoy spending our summer weekends in Waupaca. I grew up coming to Waupaca every summer because my grandparents owned a cottage on Columbia Lake just down the street, of which my parents now own. I loved my summers in Waupaca and wanted to create those same childhood memories with my own family. We live in Illinois as our primary residence and now that our kids are getting busier with summer activities, we have decided to share our special spot on the chain with others on days we can't be there.
