Vacationing in Alaska for the 1st time with my best friend & her 13-year-old niece. We were all very happy & comfortable here! Condo is located close to downtown on a steep hill over-looking the fjord. It is newly built with modern, stainless steel appliances, large counter-tops, & comfortable, new furniture. The color scheme is relaxing & pleasing to the eye. The layout was spacious & cozy with two floors. The upper has a roomy kitchen, living room, & dining nook. Lots of large windows let in natural light & look out onto the water. One of our favorite things to do here was sit at the high kitchen table & watch all the boats, cruise ships, barges, & sea-float planes come & go through the fjord. Grateful for the binoculars provided by the host! Beautiful, iridescent floral pattern on side widows provided privacy & blackout blinds on all the windows blocked out the spotlights from boats at night. Casement windows open for full ventilation. Upper balcony is spacious with patio chairs. Down the hall is a bathroom with a large shower & a small washer/dryer set. Dryer is not so great, it kept turning off before the cycle was complete & it was VERY difficult to get our clothes completely dry. However, when we brought this issue up with the host, she very graciously offered to come pick up our clothes & dry them at her house vs. spending money at the laundromat to have them dried. We thought it was pretty neat she offered to do that! The upstairs bedroom has two twin beds, a large HDTV, & two spacious closets. No water view from upstairs bedroom. The master suite downstairs is quite lovely with a private balcony, large windows, a spacious bedroom area with a queen-size bed & a cozy sitting area with two deep barrel chairs. HDTV. The master bathroom is simply magnificent with a HUGE, deep, rectangular tub, his & her sinks, & a large, walk-in closet with plenty of storage space.
Neighbors above us & on both sides in adjacent buildings/houses were quite loud at times. There is a steep set of stairs leading down to the condo landing that was VERY SLIPPERY when wet! We recommend traction strips on the stairs, better lighting at night, & perhaps a second handrail for safety. We also recommend safety rails or handles in the bathrooms as there is nothing to hold onto as you're entering & exiting the tub or shower. More coat hooks & towel racks would also be appreciated. Coffee pot does not turn off automatically. Very pleased with our accomodations!
