Scenic Solitude Awaits at Mountain Ridge Retreat

Located on 90 acres of a secluded mountain ridge, our 3000 sq.ft. log home is your perfect luxury vacation destination! Located between the quaint towns of Bedford and Somerset, we are close to many area attractions including Mountain Ridge ATV Park, Shawnee State Park, Flight #93 Memorial, and so much more! Our website contains links to many area attractions, wineries & breweries, and restaurants.

Our log home sleeps 14 and contains 4 BRs plus a loft, and 3 full baths. The main level has a LR, DR, fully equipped kitchen, laundry room and primary BR with a king bed and private bath. The second floor has a BR with queen bed, a bunk room with 2 twin bunks (sleeps 4) and a queen bed, plus a loft area with a queen bed. All 2nd floor sleeping areas share a full bath on 2nd floor. The daylight lower level has a family room / game room with foosball, shuffleboard, TV and DVD/Blue Ray player, a BR with a queen bed, and a full bath. The rear yard has a deck with a gas grill and picnic table and a fire pit area. The covered front porch has rocking chairs and a porch swing with endless mountain views. Be sure to hike the trail to our private sunset vista!

We’re so happy that you are considering a stay with us. We hope that you’ll have a great time and make many memories during your stay. Our home has all of the amenities you need for a wonderful vacation. It’s our pleasure to serve you and provide a wonderful experience for you and your family.

We do require that the booking guest upload a photo ID through the platform messaging center prior to arrival and an email for sending a lease to be electronically signed. A code for entering the property will not be provided until we receive the ID and signed lease.

Please note that AT&T does NOT have service on our ridge. Verizon DOES have coverage. We do have a house phone for use during your stay.

Due to popular weekend rental requests, we require 7 day rentals to begin on Friday or Sunday.

For winter rentals, four-wheel drive is HIGHLY recommended. We do have a contract with a snow plower; however, depending on the amount of snow, it may be necessary to cancel or postpone your arrival with a full refund. If you are at the home when a large storm hits, we will make every effort to get the lane plowed for your departure. If it’s necessary to stay any extra days, there will be no charge for the extra days until the lane is able to be opened. We will be watching the weather and will be in touch with you throughout your trip.

Wi-Fi is for email and basic internet only, not for streaming movies. We do have TVs, DVD and blue ray players in each bedroom and the lower level family room, along with a rather large selection of movies to choose from. Please note, this is not by choice; however no other internet is currently available in our area. So plan to unplug as much as possible and enjoy the beauty of the land!

We do require that a photo ID of the guest booking the trip be uploaded to the message board prior to arrival. The code for entry will not provided until the ID is received.

Our family loves to call Mountain Ridge Retreat our second home, and we want our guests to feel the same way.

Tracy was an amazing host. We rented this for the weekend of our daughter’s wedding just down the road from her lovely home. She went above and beyond what is normally required of a host and she met all of our expectations. She was very quick to respond to any of our emails, and she made our stay so pleasant. The property is lovely, the home is very clean, and the kitchen is very well stocked. I would love to come back for another visit. Thank you, Tracy for a lovely wedding weekend !

Best place to stay for many reasons. Very private, beautiful peaceful area, very clean home. There is nothing lacking in what you need. Watched dear every morning in the meadow, one actually had a new baby which was awesome. Enough firewood for a year, and it was covered and dry! Owners are very kind and flexible which was needed. Can't wait to come back.

Wonderful cabin

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the mountain ridge retreat. The property is beautiful and private. The cabin had everything we could possibly need. In addition to the beautiful outdoors we all enjoyed the games and assortment of movies available.

Beautiful!!!

The cabin was absolutely gorgeous along with the land. Took a day trip to visit some covered bridges and see the flight 93 memorial…all within a reasonable distance. I would definitely go back.

Great Family Gathering

We had a great weekend at Scenic Solitude. This was a great house for us. We needed the 3 separate sleeping areas with baths in each one. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen with cooking ingredients and also pans and utensils. The shuffleboard and foosball table added many houses off fun together. The children loved the tire swing. Hiking trails were also a plus.

The perfect weekend escape

Sister/Cousins Getaway

This was our 20th anniversary of getting together to have lots of laughs, food, drinks and love! We are so truly blessed to be able to do this and have so much fun! The time goes by so quickly so we make the most of it!! This house was truly amazing! The house was spotless and perfect for us. The beds were very comfortable! It’s a great place to gather!!!

Stayed for Wedding at Heavenly View

We stayed for a family wedding that was being held at Heavenly View. We had the closest place, the groom’s family had people stay in Bedford and the bride’s in Somerset. They couldn’t believe we only had to drive 3 minutes at the end of the night! It was absolutely perfect! I just wish we had time to enjoy the BEST kitchen of any VRBO we’ve ever stayed at, but we did enjoy the three bathrooms to get ready for the wedding.

You cannot find a better place!

This home was AMAZING! The setting is beautiful, so peaceful and calm. We enjoyed watching deers, rabbits, turkeys, on a daily basis. We sat with friends on the large porch every day while the younger ones played on the front lawn. It was soul filling. The inside is just as gorgeous, the rooms are beautiful and the space well made. We would love to come back some day!

Great getaway with family to experience tranquility and relaxation

Beautiful home in a peaceful, serene setting. You are by yourself with just your family and nature. Great time to relax and unwind. The house and acreage has so much to offer. We had fun playing shuffleboard and checkers. The kitchen is great for entertaining. We loved sitting out on the front porch enjoying the view after dinner. We went into Bedford which is about a 35 minute drive to enjoy the spa at Omni. We dined at Jean Bonnet and came home to enjoy a campfire at the house. We were sad to leave as the house was so inviting and relaxing.

Great Cousin Getaway

This was a great spot for cousins from Ohio and Virginia to meet for a couple of days of fun and catching up. Everything was as expected from the listing. The house and property are beautiful and well-maintained. The house was stocked with everything we needed and more. I had a few questions and the responses were quick, friendly, and thorough. We enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch and watching the deer and stargazing. The kids appreciated all the toys and games and loved running around in the big grassy yard. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Family Time

My family and I travel to Somerset County every August for a family reunion. Over the years we stayed in Bedford; although we always enjoyed that gem of a town we were looking tor a change; a place closer to our venue, to all be together under the same roof to enjoy additional family time. I came across this amazing property. It’s so inviting, clean, peaceful, cozy and very well appointed. The view from the front porch, adorned with rocking chairs and a swing, is breathtaking. It’s where we spent most of our time! The living area, bedrooms, kitchen/dining, bathrooms are very spacious. We truly loved EVERYTHING about this beautiful place. Tracy, the host is absolutely wonderful. She made us feel so welcomed. We can’t wait to go back next year!

Annual Birthday Weekend

What a beautiful home!! We could not have felt more comfortable. The home is spacious and immaculate. The kitchen was a great pleasure as I am a cook and was super impressed with the accoutrements!! Plenty of everything and the quality of the plates, glassware, pots and pans, etc. was excellent! The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were so comfortable. Everyone had a good nights sleep!! The gameroom was a huge hit and where we spent a lot of time with our grandsons who are 13 and 10. Lots of games to play and fun was had by all of us!! We celebrate 2 birthdays on this weekend every year and have gone to a different place. We sure did find our new place to go!! Everyone was in agreement that we will be back next year!! Thank you, Tracy!!!

Wonderful family getaway!

Absolutely lovely getaway! The home was spacious, clean and wall equiped. The host was very accessible and quick to respond. Lots of fun things to do inside and out. Highly recommend!! One person in our group is already planning a return trip!

The minute we came up the lane and the barn, then the log home, came into view, we knew this was a special place that we could enjoy many years of creating wonderful family memories. Our favorite spot is the sunset vista, where most days, the sun sets right in the middle where two mountains come together -- peaceful, quiet, solitude.... Mornings sipping coffee on the front porch rockers, evenings on the sunset vista, and night-life by the fire pit -- memories to cherish and now to share with all of you!
Our family also enjoys ATV and dirt bike riding. Being within 20 minutes of one of the largest ATV and off-road vehicle park was a priority during our vacation home search. Mountain Ridge ATV Park has over 140 miles of trails and is ready to welcome you on your next adventure. If sight-seeing is something you enjoy more, you will find plenty to do within 15-60 minutes of our cabin.
