Waterfront getaway with sandy beach on Lake Morris - a 163-acre 5 lake chain.

Enjoy up-north ambiance at a peaceful lakefront cottage on Lake Morris. Kids will love the firm sandy beach and swim area. Outdoor amenities include a large deck, paddle sport equipment, and campfire ring. The cottage is light and airy with large windows and patio doors for summer breezes. Enjoy the well-appointed kitchen, comfortable living areas, 3 large bedrooms, smart televisions and Wi-Fi. There's plenty of room and convenience to relax.

The large deck overlooks Lake Morris providing a wonderful space for family gatherings. With its southern exposure enjoy warm sunny mornings and tree shaded afternoons, The deck is a great place to gather any time of day. The wrought iron patio table seats six and has adjustable shade umbrella. Gas and charcoal grills are available for outdoor grilling.

The spacious cook's kitchen has a full-size refrigerator with filtered water and ice maker, electric range and oven, microwave, toaster, blender, hand mixer, electric griddle, a combination drip and K-cup coffee maker, and ample cookware. The kitchen desk with monitor provides views to the lake.

The living area features a gable ceiling, pine-board floors and knotty-pine walls with comfortable seating and a gas fireplace. Home entertainment includes free Wi-Fi, 2 Roku televisions with streaming services, a DVD player is located on the lower level. Family friendly DVD's, books, board games and puzzles are provided.

All the bedrooms are spacious. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and large closet. The second bedroom has two single beds and two closets. The third bedroom is located on lower-level and features a queen size bed, closet and patio access.

The main floor has a full bath with tub and shower. A toilet with sink is located on the lower level.

The campfire ring is located near the lake front. Outdoor seating, marshmallow forks are provided.

Lake Morris is a 163-acre, 5 lake chain, offering great opportunities for boaters, paddle sports, and fishing. Full rec. boating for water skiing and tubing is available on a 40-acre section of the Lake Morris chain. Spring fed streams feed the chain of lakes for great water clarity. Enjoy fishing, with abundant pan fish, bass and northern.

Guests have complimentary access to a two-person fishing-kayak, 2 single person kayaks and 2 paddle boards. Life jackets are provided in sizes for children to adult. Complimentary fishing poles are located in the lakeside storage shed.

Here’s a sampling of the many activities in the area, (with estimated travel times):
• The Mill Coffee House and Ice Cream Shop - 5 min walk.
• Mt. Morris Town Park beach and playground - 5 min walk.
• Mt. Morris County Park (hiking) - entrance across town road.
• Nordic Mountain, (mountain biking, winter skiing and tubing) - 3 min by car.
• Additional Hiking at the many nearby county and state parks - 3 to 30 min.
• The Wisconsin DNR Fish Hatchery in Wild Rose - 15 min.
• Antique dealers in Red Granite, Wild Rose, Wautoma, & Waupaca - 15 to 30 min.
Trout fisherman will enjoy the nearby Willow Creek and Pine River fisheries, with their Class 1 trout streams and more than 2,000 acres of public land access.

Are you a mountain biker or snow skier? Mt. Morris Park and Nordic Mtn. are located adjacent to our property and offer great mountain biking trails and a fun place for snow skiing and tubing.

Licensed as a Hotel-Tourist Rooming House by the Tri-County Consortia in Waushara County.

Beautifully maintained cottage on the best lake in the world!

We loved our stay at this property. The accommodations were perfect for our family and had everything we would ever need. I spent my summers on (in) Big Hills Lake when I was growing up and I loved sharing it with my children.

Family Vacation

This property was a prefect stay for a family getaway vacation. Little to no reception to unplug from phones but excellent wifi if you still needed to stay connected. The owners were fantastic and really display Wisconsin/ Midwestern hospitality. We were looking for a lakefront rental and feel like we made some acquaintance friends in the process.

Family getaway.

Great property we loved everything about it. The house was clean and the living space was perfect for a large family. The family loved all the amenities, from the games and books to the lake toys and kayaks. We've been coming to Wild Rose for years and we may have found our new favorite getaway.

Morris family vacation

Hosts were super at communicating to all questions in a timely manner. Our family had a great time together, fishing, playing games, and relaxing at the beach. The house was perfect for our needs, loved having the basement for a little separation when needed:) Thank you to Peggy and Steve.

Wonderful Lake House Getaway

The Lake House is perfect - just as advertised - with plenty of room for a family of 4+. There is a swimming area for small children, and it's close to the county park/beach. It's a peaceful location with lake access. Peggy and Steve are helpful and responsive to questions. I highly recommend this Lake House as a comfortable and relaxing getaway.

Lovely Property, Lake Just ok

Beautiful property, fully stocked with everything you could need. Very clean and very attentive host. The lake is clean with nice bottom but quite small, as are the other on the chain. The 1/2 bath is not quite a 1/2 bath.

Beautiful Lake House

Communication before check-in was thorough and prompt. We arrived and had a very easy check in. The house was tidy and the landscaping/beach well tended to. The location on channel right next to lake is so peaceful with no wake rules (lake area allows wake 10am-5pm), but you can also see the people as they pass by on their pontoons. Boathouse is stocked with fishing/swimming/floating/lazing supplies. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return.

Beautiful, peaceful cabin

Absolutely loved this cabin for my young family. We have 2 children (ages 3 and 5) and we found this cabin to be perfect for them. It had a smooth, paved walkway to the water, easy entry to the lake, shallow water (my 5 year old could touch until nearly the end of the pier), sandy area to play, lots of small pan fish under the dock, owners provided baby gates, and the set up of the house was perfect for kids. My boys also loved having various floaties, kayaks/SUP and sand toys to play with (all provided in the exterior shed). The owners were very responsive to emails and texts. Lovely to work with. We would highly recommend this to any family, especially those with young children. Town wasn’t very big but we did enjoy Bird Creek Park (playground + splash pad). Only “con” was the checkout process. I don’t mind cleaning whatsoever, but we did have to clean-clean after ourselves (cleaning the tub, toilet, vanity/mirror, vacuum, haul trash to waste site, etc.) For us it was minor but just not something I was used to. Will definitely stay again!

This peaceful little place on the lake was wonderful!

Great quiet lake property

The house was comfortable and supplied sand toys, noodles, canoe, paddle board and kayaks. Worked well for our family of 6 and still worked when our oldest daughter’s family visited with children ages 8 months to 6 years.

Looking for your forever lake rental? This is it!

Clean, great location, all the stuff you usually have to pack is already there! Games puzzles eclectic book collection laundry chairs firewood more than enough deck and lawn chairs pillows blankets bedding towels kitchen and bath the air conditioning worked great but there were also fans if needed, I could go on and on and on but there's just like everything you would want all provided. Beautiful lake, clean sand, hard bottom, no muck. Food, bar 2 minutes away with ice cream and coffee shop next door. Public park with pavilions, rest rooms, jungle gym, and a great sand beach also with roped off area to swim and boat launch there also. And again I repeat 2 minutes away from the cabin!

Wonderful week at the lake

My husband and I took our three kids ages 10, 7 and 2 along with my mother for a week long vacation. This home was absolutely wonderful. It has just about anything you could want! We kayaked on the lakes, kids swam for hours. Fishing poles were provided in the boathouse so all we needed was bait. The owners were very easy to get a hold of and a pleasure to deal with. I would reccommend this home to anyone, you wont be disappointed.

Great Lake House

We loved this place! It has it all-swimming, peddle boat, SUP, kayaks and fishing. This is a very nice lake house located in a great spot. Perfect place to relax and enjoy quality family time rain or shine. The hosts were great.

Adorable and cozy cottage

The cottage was adorable and I loved diving into the history of it. The weather wasn't on our side unfortunately so we were only able to go out on the the water got one day. But we still enjoyed using the kayaks and the lake was peaceful. We spent most of our time relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet we don't often get in the city. And we especially appreciated the many options in games to play. We were a little surprised by how close there nearby houses were. We were under the impression that the cottage would be a little more secluded. But the neighboring cabins were pretty much vacant for the most part of our stay so we can't complain. Would love to come back, hopefully when there's better, warmer weather.

Lovely cabin on a beautiful lake.

We greatly enjoyed our stay on big hill lake. The cabin was quirky but clean and comfortable. We especially liked the big addition where the whole family could gather. The lake was clear and cool and great for kayaking and swimming. My only complaint was that i was not prepared for the climb up and down the hill to the water. Otherwise everything was great.

Great property with beautiful lake views

My family of five stayed at this property in mid-September for 3 nights. We really enjoyed all aspects of the property and hope to return sometime during an upcoming summer trip! First off, the cabin itself has a very large and comfortable great room. We have stayed in may lakeside/cabin type VRBO's and this main room was one of the best, if not the best, we've experienced. Plenty of room. And each piece of furniture was very comfortable...which is something you don't always get at a remote lakeside cabin. We basically had summer weather, however, the property had a nice fireplace and felt like it would be great during the fall/winter as well. Also, the views from the main room and spacious deck were exactly what you look for from this type of vacation property. Beautiful lake views with a perfect woodsy feel. The separate lakeside boathouse really adds a lot of functionality to the property. This gives you access to plenty of stuff to use in the lake (paddle boat, floats, kayaks, fishing poles etc) and a good place to hang out while you are having fun on the lake. I think the boathouse was one of the distinguishing features of the property and something we definitely made more use of than we thought when we initially selected this property. Also, the lake itself is very beautiful with really clear water. The swimming area is mostly sandy bottomed, as opposed to rocky or weedy, so it was really enjoyable going for a swim. And finally, the owners were great to work with. We didn't have any issues, however, they offered their assistance and made it easy to contact them in case there were any issues while we were at the property. But they also just left us to enjoy our vacation. So basically everything was great and we would definitely return if we visit the area again.

Beautiful lake, all the comforts of home

Had a wonderful week at Wild Rose cottage. Big Hills Lake is a beautiful lake, and the cottage was well supplied with all the comforts of home. Our only concern was the railing down to the lake could be more stable. Thank you for a terrific stay!

Above and beyond my expectations!

My family and I loved the Big Hills Lake cottage. The views from the boathouse upper level were beautiful. The lake water was pristine. We saw frogs, blue jays, hummingbirds, turtles, dear, fish and many, many beautiful flowers during our stay. The book selection and literature regarding the history of the cottage, lake and kettles was an added bonus! Many long lasting, wonderful memories were made during our stay.

We love visiting our lake house for pure relaxation, waterfront views and recreation. This part of the state is still relatively undiscovered, so it's like going up North without the drive and crowds. The home is very comfortable for family gatherings. It's located on a wonderful chain of lakes, with an ideal combination of no-wake and full-rec water fun. It's a properly insulated four season home for year-round comfort. The name "Hearthstone Place" reflects the values of home life and a place to gather around.

Views of the lake are wonderful. Facing South, the deck is canopied by mature hardwood trees with sun in the morning and cool shade during the day. The variety of birds you can see is surprising, ranging from hummingbirds to bald eagles. Its lake front location delivers the best of two worlds. The beach is on a quiet no-wake section of the lake, with easy access to the full-rec section of the lake by boat to enjoy tubing and water skiing. The no-wake section of the lake in front of the property is great for paddle sport activities any time of day. The beach is sandy and firm with clear water for swimming. The property is located adjacent to Mt. Morris County Park and Nordic Mountain providing easy access to hiking and mountain biking trails, winter skiing, and tubing.
