The Freckled Farmhouse - Spacious Historic Getaway for Families & Groups

Welcome to The Freckled Farmhouse, a charming, over 100-year-old historic home located in beautiful Cashtown, Pennsylvania-just under 10 miles from downtown Gettysburg. With space to sleep up to 14 guests, two full kitchens, and plenty of outdoor room to relax, this farmhouse is the perfect gathering place for family reunions, group getaways, or wedding weekends.

Noise Disclosure: As with many historic homes, noise can travel between floors. For light sleepers, we provide earplugs and white noise machines for your comfort

The home and property are regularly treated for fleas and ticks. Between guests, we perform black light inspections of all flooring and carpeted areas to check for accidents-any found are sanitized and deodorized immediately.

Perfect for large family and friends

We truly enjoyed our visit to Gettysburg and this large house was not too far away!! We had family from ages 1.5-74 gather together. Great having two kitchens, family rooms!! We were able to be together but have our own bedroom space!! Thank you to the Freckled Farmhouse for a lovely visit!

Needs updating bedrooms— more lighting in bathroom & a vent. No guard rail for showering. Floors were sticky. Not enough towels. We did enjoy our stay but hadn’t been decorated for a while.

Perfect place at perfect time of year

Group of buddies touring the battlefield together for a week. The Freckled Farmhouse was the perfect place to stay. Such a beautiful time of year. We enjoyed the fire circle every night. We each had a room. Lots of space, lots of privacy. We had a terrific time!

Enjoyable Stay. Would come back.

We enjoyed our stay that used both rental units of this Farmhouse. Our Family Group of 8 adults and four children under the age of 5 loved your house and yard. It was comfortable and clean and plenty of space for all. The proximity to Gettysburg was a plus too. We would definitely come back to this House.

I like the fact that this property supplied towels, bed linens, silverware, cups, etc. that made it less burdensome on us. This property was very spacious as well, it had plenty of rooms and sitting areas which was ideal for our group. The Management Team was very nice, kind, and helpful, they really went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. I highly recommend The Freckled Farmhouse if you are in that area.

Perfect family getaway

This was a beautiful, cozy farmhouse for our entire family to gather together as we celebrated our daughter graduating from Gettysburg College. The house was very spacious, clean and stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed visiting with our neighbors the goats and playing Scrabble and UNO in the family room. Our host was very quick to respond when we reached out with a question. I would highly recommend and hope to return in the future!

Fun time at the farmhouse

Had a wonderful time at the farmhouse. Property owners were very accessible to address an issue with one of the stairs. We originally could not get in using the steps provided, but after the incident we had no issues. It was a great space to host 13 individuals. My only suggestion is to have more lighting. I would rent farmhouse again.

Farmhouse close to Gettysburg...

Plenty of room for our three-families totaling 14 & our three dogs. Everyone had their own room and the two living rooms is a plus. Plenty of room to stretch out. House looked just like the pictures. The house was clean, and the beds were comfortable. Farmhouse was stocked with everything you needed. Easy check in and out. House owners gave suggestion on places to visit and eat. The farmhouse is close to wineries and downtown Gettysburg.

Annual Gettysburg Trip

Had a wonderful time! Enjoyed the simplicity and charm of the farmhouse. We didn't know the owners also owned the Cashtown Inn. Upon discovery, we arranged a tour. Jeremy also visited us at the Rested Rooster and shared history of the farmhouse and surrounding area not necessarily related to the Battle of Gettysburg. We would definitely come back. Danielle and Jeremy have wonderful communication and the place is so inviting. Thank you!

family and friends

My family and friend's we're looking for a rental where we could all stay together. We had the entire Freckeked Farmhouse and having a bedroom on the downstairs floor was a blessing for me as I had an incident prior to my Gettysburg trip. The location of the home was perfect, very peaceful country atmosphere, and truly felt like home. We enjoyed sitting around the firepit and listening to nature. The hosts went well beyond what we expected, they are true gems. We had a awsome time and have already discussed a possible retun trip next year. Rhonda, family and friends.

Another great family memory

We were in "town" to attend my brother's granddaughter's wedding. We were a total of 17 people, all family. We rented both upstairs and downstairs. We enjoyed the farmhouse 'venue' and prepared meals in both kitchens (needed for 17 people). We had a campfire one evening. As the kids/grandkids departed over the last couple of days, all thought we had a great family event at the Freckled Farmhouse. We would do it again. The hosts were exceptional! That just added to this great experience.

Lovely home but some issues.

This is a cute property but there were some issues. The biggest being that there were mice who got into the food and one lady found a roach in her bag. I did contact the owner about the mice. They said it’s an old house and that they could come and set some traps. Yes of course I understand that it’s an old house but knowing that I would expect things to be addressed BEFORE we showed up. Traps would mean we then had to deal with dead mice. No thank you! There was also window unit air conditioners that were still in the window and not at all sealed, just placed in, allowing cold air to come through. It was November and quite chilly, especially at night. As well there was a yellow jackets nest outside one window and they were coming in through the unsealed areas trying to get away from the cold. There was also a large black area of mold in the ceiling tiles directly above the shower. Overall it just seemed like the house needed more upkeep.

Great stay at the Farmhouse

We loved the house, it was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The location was only 15 minutes from Gettysburg and other tourist sites. We live in a busy city so the traffic noise at night near the house didn’t bother us. I texted the host several times during our stay, they responded quickly and were very helpful. Would reserve again if in the area.

Great place

Lovely house with great access Accommodations. We had seven people and each of us had our own bedroom. The house was well stocked, very comfortable, and in a great location for visiting the Gettysburg national battlefield. The owner also offered a tour of Cashtown, which we took advantage of, and was very interesting.
