The Mountaineer

Renovated in 2021, this classic chalet style home is in the high peaks region and has direct mountain views right outside the door. The home sits on a quiet street with easy access to all the area's attractions.
This chalet has an abundance of windows and natural light. The kitchen is completely new with granite counter tops, custom finishes and high-end appliances. The hardwood floors have all been refinished. The Great Room features a large stone fireplace cathedral ceilings and all new wood finishes. The oversized master suite sits on its own level with private bath that is all new and features a luxurious walk-in shower. There are 2 more large bedrooms below for a total of 3, and the home can easily
accommodate 6-8 people.
The Mountaineer Chalet sits on over an acre of property with a huge deck that is accessed easily from the Great Room. The deck has a direct view of Haystack Mountain. The heating system in the home is also new and was put in for the sheer purpose of noise reduction to assure quiet sound throughout the home. There is Wi-Fi and Satellite TV in the home as well.
Year round area attractions include hiking, the village of Lake Placid, alpine skiing and mountain
biking at Whiteface Mountain, snowshoeing, Fly fishing on the Ausable River, swimming holes, farmers markets, nearby lakes, and more.

A great place to spend a white Christmas. Snowy views of mountain across the street. Comfortable couches by the fire and well-equipped kitchen. Minor issue: lingering pet hair from previous visitors or owner. But good and prompt communications with property manager.

The house had everything we needed. It was very clean and nicely decorated. It had a very spacious living room with a large dining table. Other features was a front deck facing the forest across the street and an outdoor area with chairs and a fire pit. Very quiet and private location.

The house was incredible! It was spacious, clean, and decorative. My family had a wonderful time here! The hosts and managers were so responsive, helpful and kind. The house was located in such a peaceful area close to many attractions and areas. It felt so comfortable and cozy. All appliances and everything worked great. Comfortable short, stay in the Adirondacks

Very nice property clean, andwell equipped but could use a larger TV. Everything you need in the kitchen and easy Wi-Fi access.

Wonderful vacation home!

My family and I chose the Mountainer as our vacation rental because of its location. We were so happy we did. It was so comfortable. I especially loved how clean and comfortable it was. Ive been to some rentals where the dishes are not really clean and all of the kitchen items were in perfect condition. I really appreciated that! This home had everything we needed. We were centrally located that we could enjoy some of the attractions such as the Ausable Chasm, Shelburne Museum in Vermont (Such fun taking the ferry boat out of Essex over Lake Champlain) and then Lake Placid where we took the gondola ride up Whiteface Mountian to see the spectacular views. Definitely one of our top 5 homes we have rented over the years. You won't be disappointed!

Wonderful rental!

Just came back from a great trip to the Adirondacks. The Mountaineer was a perfect choice for me, the home was clean, all newer appliances, etc and came nicely stocked.The host was very responsive and all in all, it was a great trip!

Family Get Away

Great house with a good amount of space. Master bath was super nice. Everything was clean. Rooms were spacious. Great location to get to Lake Placid, Keene, and many of the High Peaks. Air Con worked great and extra fans were awesome as temps were super warm during our stay. Property manager was transparent, easy to reach, and easy to speak with. Overall, a wonderful stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the Mountaineer. Peter was very accommodating and was great to work with. The house was clean and had all we needed for a comfortable stay. The full sized mattress in the bunk room was not so comfortable for adults, but would have been fine for kids. Our adult kids opted to sleep on the recliners in the living room, and that worked out just as well! The location was perfect for accessing family events in Keeseville and Ausable Forks. Highly recommend!

Beautiful cozy cabin!

We had a wonderful stay here to go snowboarding at Whiteface and tour around the Lake Placid area. Secluded and private on a quiet road with a nice view of Haystack Mountain. Very comfortable for 7-8 people, although the listing shows a 4th bedroom with a futon but really the futon is in the living room. Worked out fine. House was clean, cozy, nicely remodeled in recent years. We enjoyed the fireplace and woodsy decor. Host was very responsive and accommodating, and no unusual chores for check out. A wonderful stay!

Wonderful trip to winter Adirondacks

After an action-packed day on the slopes of Whiteface Mountain, an exhilarating backcountry tour in the High Peaks Wilderness or a thrilling cross-country ski in the Olympic area in Lake Placid, there's nothing more inviting than returning to the Mountaineers Chalet. It's the perfect retreat, where everyone is excited to come back to every evening. The interior is stunning, with its decor and crackling fireplace, and the location is simply perfect for soaking up the true genius loci of the surrounding mountains!

Fall in the Adirondacks is wonderful

Beutiful home with the terrific view out the front looking at the Haystack mountain was calming. Very little traffic slowly passing by. Au Sable Forks village has a fully stocked Tops Market was a Score! We had excellent Weather for daytrip outings. The place was Clean Comfotabke

Romantic 33rd Anniversary Getaway

Beautiful location at the base of the mountain! Wonderful views! This property is nicely situated for privacy and solitude! It is very clean, quaint and modern rustic! The real wood fireplace took the chill out of the air and gave us that romantic feel we needed to celebrate our anniversary! Thank you to the owners, the manager and the cleaning staff for making this gem available for all of us to enjoy! We plan to visit again!
