Lovely spacious 6 BR home in St. Croix River valley

"Maple House" has plenty of comfortable upscale space for gatherings and also for quiet time away from the group. We offer 1 large bedroom with a queen bed on the main level which has it's own bathroom, a 2nd main floor bedroom with a queen + twin, and 4 upstairs bedrooms: three with queen beds and one with 2 twin beds. Other sleeping options include a large sectional couch, an outdoor style couch that would sleep one person (except winter) on the 3-season porch, and a queen double height air mattress with built in pump. In addition to the master bath, there is a small bathroom with a shower on main level and a bathroom with tub and shower upstairs, plus a nice laundry room upstairs for your use. You will enjoy an updated well-equipped kitchen, large dining room table, huge comfy "great room" with large curved screen TV with cable and high speed internet, a 3-season porch, and a patio with table & chairs, gas grill, and fire pit. We provide wood and propane. We provide spices & cooking oil, coffee beans & grinder, tea, a few pantry items like sugar and flour, and a gift of local pure maple syrup made by your hosts!

The property and amenities were exactly as advertised. The hosts were very prompt on responses and available for any questions, if needed. The bedrooms must be well insulated because it was soooo quiet even with about 10 people staying in the house. The beds were very comfortable. Even in February, the view of the river is beautiful, especially the sunrises! Our entire extended family enjoyed our stay and highly recommend! Thank you! :)

Fantastic house! Plenty of kitchen supplies and the maple syrup was delicious! Clean and tidy! Fun outdoor games, fire pit and accommodations for all! Owners were very responsive to our communication and questions! Would definitely stay here again!!

It was our first Christmas without my husband, and I wanted to do something special for my family. The house was perfect for us to spend time together. We enjoyed walking downtown and attending Mass on Christmas Eve. We had plenty of space to play games and watch Christmas movies on a large screen. A Christmas tree was set up, and the kids were able to "trim" it. Every kitchen tool was available to make our meals, and the large table fit us all! We enjoyed the lights at Miracle at Big Rock one night. It is a great location with many things to see and do nearby! What a view! It will be a Christmas to remember! Thank you so much!

Maple House Vacation

Beautifully located among maple trees, a large lawn for outdoor games, and plenty of interior room to spread out, this was an ideal location for our family group! Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms!

Girls Trip

Girls Trip for 6. Wonderful accommodations and wonderful hosts. Lots of room for 6 of us to spread out. The house was very well furnished. We weren't lacking for anything. It was very clean and was very much as described. We hope to return for another trip in the future. I would highly recommend it a group.

Great Place for Friends or Family

All of us siblings and spouses spent a long weekend together enjoying the location where our aunt and uncle lived while we were growing up. Of course we invited our cousins for an outdoor barbecue and the 10 of us grew to 25. What a beautiful home, with plenty of space and a great kitchen. The fire pit is even stocked with wood!

Property was as pictured, clean and cupboards well labeled. The living room is huge and yet still cozy. It’s very close to fun shops and bars. We really enjoyed the porch and fire pit (huge bonus that firewood was provided). 4 out of 7 found their beds to be comfortable. 3 of the 7 the beds were way too hard and would benefit greatly from some memory foam. It has a rating of three stars because as soon as you enter the house, it smells musty like it’s been closed up for years. We had to open all of the windows all day long to make it better and it was a little chilly for that. Then every time we would close up the house and leave, we would come back to the same musty smell.

Great Family Reunion Spot

This was perfect for our large group. Quiet. Clean. We cooked most meals there. Multiple areas to to things together either inside or out so that everyone isn't on top of one another. Hosts are available and friendly. My father and I each had nice conversations with Don. The home facilited a wonderful reunion.

I have never had a better VRBO experience than our stay at Maple House. Nine of us, all in our late 70s, friends for 55 years. This was our second stay, and we’ve already booked our next reunion a year from now.Everything was absolutely perfect. Beautiful home. Spotlessly clean. Fully equipped kitchen (including every drawer’s contents clearly labeled. The most complete, most detailed welcome book I’ve ever seen. Spectacular great room for gathering to spend hours together. Spacious dining room. Well-stocked bedrooms and bathrooms, with plenty of extra sheets, pillows, and towels. Beautiful grounds, adequate parking, lovely outdoor patio with seating for everyone. Working with Sydney has been a dream; speedy responses to any questions. My only hesitation in publishing this stellar review is that it might limit our ability to book the Maple House in the future if too many groups discover this gem. But I’ll take my chances: best VRBO experience ever!

A special setting for a special event

This is an amazing place. The owners have thought of everything. Extremely well equipped kitchen with high-quality cookware. Comfortable beds. Clean, well-maintained property inside and out. Plenty of seating for our family reunion outside around the fire, in the the Great Room and in the dining room. Maple House invited us to gather as one group and in smaller groups to get reacquainted with our family, which including ages 2-60. We'd love to come back year after year!

Room for everyone! We spent most of our time in the screened porch which has a large table for family games. Large pans in kitchen good for feeding a crowd. Tons of dishes and drink ware made mealtime easy. Hosts provided great basics, dish and dishwasher soap, shampoos, conditioners, body washes, etc. in each bathroom, ample towels. Everything marked clearly in kitchen. Highly recommend!

Don & Sydney have lived in Taylors Falls many years and 4 years ago purchased the house next door, remodeled and improved it, and listed in on Airbnb. In 2021 they added "Maple House" to VRBO so others might benefit from a stay at this lovely spacious home in the village of Taylors Falls. Don is retired from the USGS (hydrologist) and Sydney continues her work as an executive coach. Because they are next door, Don & Sydney can be very responsive to guests' needs and love to meet people who come for gatherings in the St. Croix River Valley. They have a maple syrup operation at their home so in spring you'll see buckets on trees and can smell the wonderful maple syrup smell. They gift a small bottle of pure maple syrup to guests and syrup is available for sale. All funds go to two local Lutheran youth groups who help sap and sell the syrup. Sydney is a avid traveler and has stayed at vacation rentals around the world and knows from first-hand experience what guests need and want. They both love to meet guests AND will never invade your privacy.

Great location in village of Taylors Falls, off the beaten path for quiet and privacy and very close to the villages, the river, Wild Mountain & Trollhaugen, wineries, the National Park, two state parks, lakes and rivers. Fun shopping & sightseeing and Turtle Lake Casino just 30 minutes away. Nice walks and hiking trails nearby and a children's playground across the street.

Gathering space for large groups and families that also allows for individual retreat spaces and privacy with 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and several outdoor and indoor spaces to hang out. The "great room" is huge and well-named.... guests enter the room and say, "This is a GREAT room!". That we can accommodate up to 9 cars parked off street is also a plus when families and groups gather together from different locations.
