## Emplacement
Located in the Hauts-de-Seine department of the Île-de-France region, Puteaux lies on the left bank of the Seine, bordering Neuilly-sur-Seine and Paris, notably via the famous La Défense district. Its proximity to the capital and its extensive public transport network make it an ideal commune in which to enjoy the region's many tourist attractions. According to various historians, Puteoli, as it was known in the 12th century, derives its name from its proximity to ponds and mudflats. Once the property of the Saint-Victor abbey, Puteaux is now known for its economic dynamism and wide range of leisure activities.
