Margaret’s Getaway built in 2022 is a cabin/lodge style home in a quiet, wooded area minutes from Raystown Lake and the Juniata River. Enjoy the serenity of nature on our property, watch the wildlife from our beautiful wrap-around deck, take a walk around the secluded Raystown Reach development and enjoy the peaceful views all while being a short drive to Huntingdon. There you will find dozens of local restaurants, many interesting things to do from a stroll downtown, catch a movie at the old time theatre, hear some local live music and of course access to multiple grocery options and shopping.

Expect a cozy and comfortable stay at Margaret’s Getaway and you can be assured our home is very well-appointed with all of the amenities you would expect. Curl up on the sofa in the great room and enjoy the ambiance of the fireplace. Cook a gourmet meal in our well-equipped kitchen or take some time to read a novel up in the loft. Family time? Hang out in the family room and play some board games or cards and then head outside to the campfire and make some S’mores or roast some hotdogs.

Margaret’s Getaway features a really cool Arcade Room with a modern day pinball machine and a classic video machine with 60 games! We also have a PS4 in the lower level family room to enjoy on the 55” TV. You will have access to our Mesh Wifi with coverage inside and outside on our property. There are 4 Smart TVs in the house (Master, Living Room, Family Room and Arcade Room) with Direct TV and of course access to your favorite streaming services.

For your information, we have a security camera outside for coverage of the driveway entrance. We also have 2 cameras to monitor our wildlife. There are no cameras inside the house or in areas were you and your family will be hanging out.

Great cabin. Responsive host. Clean and new. We liked the room setup - two living rooms both with TVs and cable. Very spacious. Kids loved the arcade room. Would definitely rent this VRBO again!!

Amazing House

Our family had a great stay at this house. We have stayed in many VRBO’s over the years, and this was the best stocked house yet - the kitchen, linens, etc.. The interior is beautify as well as the great wrap around deck with grill and fire pit in the enclosed back yard. The host was very responsive and flexible - overall couldn’t give a higher recommendation.

This is an excellent mountain top retreat. Very quiet saw deer every day. Owners were available and gave us a lot of information on the area notability the best restaurants in the area. Would definitely stay here again

Relaxing getaway

We enjoyed our family vacation. The home was well equipped with games, supplies, and areas for relaxing. Dale was thorough and helpful in all of his recommendations and made sure our stay was comfortable. I would recommend this home to others as well as stay there again myself!

Our favorite place-feels like home

Juniata College graduation weekend

This is second time we have stayed at this property and will likely stay again. I would highly recommend it especially for Juniata College events. It is very convenient to Huntingdon. The owners are super responsive and accommodating. You will find the property exactly as described and pictured.

Family weekend

Huntingdon is a special town to us as I am Juniata alumni and the location of this house is great. My friend and I took our families, both of us have small children and were so relieved at how family friendly and safe the outdoor areas are designed. The house was spotless and beautiful! Thanks for a great stay!

Father’s Day getaway.

The house was spotless, well decorated/appointed, secluded and quiet. Kids had a blast with the game room and making s’mores at the fire pit. The wraparound deck was perfect for having coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening. This was the first VRBO I have been to that actually had a nice grill to top it all off. Highly recommend and will definitely go back.

Perfect Weekend

This house was amazing and they thought of everything. I only wish we had more time to take advantage of all that the house offered. Perfect location, far enough out that you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but only a few minutes from town and the boat launch. Also great hiking very close by as well. We look forward to coming back again!

Great PSU Weekend

Family, friends and I enjoyed our stay here before and after a Penn State Football white-out game. One of the nicest rentals we have ever used. Especially enjoyed the game room. Outdoor firepit would have been great had it not been raining. The fireplace with lights above provide a wonderful ambiance.

Fantastic!

Lovely, secluded property in quiet setting. It was immaculate. We really enjoyed the arcade and separate living spaces up and down. The covered deck is so spacious. It was super hot and the A/C worked flawlessly. We couldn’t have been happier.

Beautiful Cabin

Fresh new build. Cabin has everything you need. Kids loved the game room. We enjoyed the porch. The switch backs could be a little tricky if you don't have a 4x4. Everything else was great!

July 4th Long Weekend

We had an amazing stay at Margaret’s Getaway. The house was gorgeous and we really enjoyed the amenities, especially the fire pit/fenced in yard, Weber grill, and arcade room. We loved how private the property was, but that we could get anywhere we needed to with a short drive. The only drawback was the steep driveway, which we had some trouble getting up in a minivan initially. Overall, a great experience.

Amazing Hospitality

Beautiful cabin on the mountain! What a wonderful restful stay. We have used VRBO for years and this was by far the best. The owners have thought of every convenience for a relaxing stay including keurig coffee cups for morning coffee! The owners were so easy to work with that I felt like I was talking to a good friend! Will try to beat your Ms. Pac Man score next time Dale!! We have second place on Galaga! 😘

Labor Day Family Getaway

One of the cleanest homes I’ve ever rented and honestly, a lot of home for the price! We stayed with our 3 adult children, a daughter in law and a toddler and everyone had plenty of room. The backyard is wonderful for smaller kids! The adults lived in the game room. Kitchen is very well appointed. Dale checked in via text to ensure we were happy and was able to troubleshoot something over the phone easily. We hope to be back again!

Great cabin-style house with modern amenities

Dale has a great house here and he’s a very responsive host. Located in a quiet, wooded subdivision, this house has privacy from neighboring homes. It’s just minutes from Huntingdon, so loading up on groceries/supplies for your stay is extremely convenient. The house was so clean it would pass a white-glove inspection! Comfortable beds. Great covered deck, gas grill and fully equipped kitchen. After full days out on Lake Raystown, this proved to be a great retreat for a relaxing family evening playing board games, darts and pinball. This house was perfect for our long weekend getaway. Would happily stay here again.

Kolar Elite Tournament

The property is fantastic, seemingly brand new, very clean, beds very comfortable and plenty of space to congregate, relax and socialize including game room. The house is perfect distance from our tournament venue. The only thing that could be better is water pressure. On occasions it was a challenge to get wet in the shower.

In all of the years we've been together, we have booked many long weekends and week long vacations in unique properties around the country and fell in love with the idea of having our own VRBO property and so here we are. We have had the time of our life building this dream home and we hope you love it as much as we do.

If you are looking for a long weekend or a week long time to simply decompress, you will love this place. Relax, unwind, take in the scenery and the wildlife. Cook a gourmet meal, take a walk, go to the lake and cast a line or float a tube on the river. Go into town where there is a wide variety of restaurants and live entertainment and tons of things to do. When you get back to the house, hit the arcade or chill in the spacious family room and watch so TV or play some games or cards. Or go outside and start a campfire.
