One of Edisto's Best! Barefoot Bungalow is a 4 bedroom elevated private home and can accommodate up to 10 guests with ease! Private off street parking is provided and the lot sits oceanfront so you will be sitting front row to the amazing beach views! The back deck is the perfect spot to lounge and watch the waves roll in. Charcoal grill and outdoor shower are also on property for guest use. Inside this charming bungalow you will find a kitchen equipped for cooking high-speed wifi and both washer and dryer for ultimate convenience. The living area is open and spacious with plenty of seating for a large group. There are 2 full bathrooms and a king bed queen 2 full and 2 twins in the home. The property is clean and welcoming. Come and experience this Edisto gem for yourself! Barefoot Bungalow allows up to 3 well behaved, house-broken, flea treated dogs with approval. Convenient Beach House

This is the second year our family has stayed at this property. It’s a great location away from the public beach accesses and so easy to get on and off the beach!

Family vacation

Perfect location. Had to leave a day early due to tropical storm warnings since beach front. Hurricane in FL effects on Charleston and Edisto beach.

Barefoot Bungalow

We enjoyed our long weekend at the property. The location is great and the house worked well for us. We would recommend updating the kitchen fan, stove, and dishwasher.

Barefoot Bungalow

I think this place should be called a rustic cabin. It has not been maintained. Furniture was dirty, Appliances are old and rusty. Beds are like sleeping on the floor. When you turn the shower on the handles are loose in the wall. There were no blankets in the house at all. None on the beds. Two outside chairs were in good shape the other two were awful and missing paint. The positive was it was an outstanding setting. Right on the beach and easy access. And btw, if you have any kind of disability or problem with stairs this place isn’t for you. Only access has many wooden stairs and not all are even.

Heavenly!

We had a wonderful stay at Edisto. The home was clean and comfortable. The beachfront location could not have been any better! The management came by with a welcome gift. What a nice surprise. They were very helpful with any question or concerns that we had.

Beachfront Paradise

We booked this stay kind of last minute and were thrilled this property was available! The view from the living room was priceless! We spent most of the time either sitting on the porch watching the waves or on the beach. My only criticism would be the bathroom. It was a bit dusty/dirty on the top of the toilet and cabinet in there. The shower curtain and rod would benefit from being changed out as well. But, let's be real, when you have that view, the bathroom isn't a big deal. Such a calming and beautiful location. We would definitely stay again!

On the beach.

We loved the house! Clean, full of light and ocean sounds. Kitchen has everything you need. Great washer/dryer. Needs updating of bathroom 2 shower fixtures and dishwasher racks. The ground level storage room needs cleaning and organizing. It’s a jumble of chairs and stuff. We would return!!

Sort of a last minute trip

The house was nice and clean and we loved being able to sit on the porch so close to the water. The only negatives were the a/c unit was so loud ( but better than no a/c at all), and I picked up a good amount of trash below the porch when we arrived. It was as if someone had thrown their solo cups, popsicle wrappers, half eaten bag of sunflower seeds, and cigarettes right off the porch. Sorry, I was not picking up someone else’s cigarette butts. Overall we were happy and would stay there again, if the a/c wasn’t so loud.

Nice House and Very Nice Beach

The house was nice and it was clean. The only real issue we had is that one bedroom had NO air or AC. Property manager installed a portable AC unit after a couple days. Very responsive. Beach chairs available downstairs. TV in two bedrooms and living room. Walks right out to beach; beautiful view.

Great Location

The view and location of house was great. The house needs A Lot of work. Ac did not work in back bedroom. Our bedroom vents were leaking water from ceiling with mildew around them . The floors in bathroom seemed to be rooting. Mildew going up bathroom wall. Refrigerator leaked all over food on top shelf.

No air condition

Needs a lot of work!!!! Property has not been maintained. Air condition was very loud and ran continuously. Was told we couldn’t turn AC below 72 because unit may break and we would be responsible if unit broke. Temperature was 78 during the day and it would return to 72 around 3am so we were very hot sleeping. We called the office twice and was told the unit was on its last leg and there was nothing they could do. Back door and interior doors are very hard to open and close.

Decent, not great

Positives. Location is great. Very spacious. Well appointed kitchen. Plenty of linens, towels, supplies. Right on the beach with an unobstructed view. Nice big dining area and table. Negatives. That pristine cement pad you see underneath has a foot of sand on it, so it’s not really useable. Can’t park large suv under. It’s not the ritz. Not a level place in the house. Older and a little rundown in need of repairs and basic maintenance. Heat didn’t work, so we froze night 1. On day 2 after the gas was filled, we had to turn gas on and get system running. Host didn’t think a late checkout was worth our headache from not having heat for 1/3 of our stay. Kinda pathetic. Living room furniture is old and worn out. You sink like a rock in the sofas and chairs.

Not as it appears!

This home is in dire need to repairs and updates!! I was embarrassed I rented it for my family! The floor is weak and very unlevel! The whole floor needs to be jacked up! They built half floors over existing weak floors!The kitchen needs more utensils! One skillet and 1 wine glass! Ridiculous! The air conditioner struggles to keep house mildly cool! The beds were ok with new bedspreads. The towels were nice. Good beach location. The rental agent was nice and professional. The owner should be ashamed and spend a couple weeks rent on the home at bare minimum! I could afford this home but some families save the entire year for their vacation and they deserve a better place!

Great place for family

We had such a great time. It was an older home, it could use a little updating but for the price it was great. It was oceanfront which is exactly what we wanted. Perfect for family.

Loved getting back to slow place of Edistoq

Older beach home which we fully expected and enjoyed. Perfect if you are familiar with the area and character of older homes! Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed it. We had bikes and kayaks delivered and enjoyed those as well as games on the beach.

HOUSE NEEDS MAJOR RENOVATIONS

I waited to write a review because Mike from Follys Best Rentals was very courteous and professional and I was hoping to get some form of rebate due to everything we encountered during our stay. I have corresponded with Mike for the past 2 months and during each conversation he explained that he could give my family $250 off but was going to speak with the owner to see if he could get us more because of all we endured while renting her home. I have not heard back from him. There was no hot water until the second day of our stay. Mike sent a gentleman out the next day and he fixed it and I also pointed out to him that the closet doors we’re hanging off their tracks and 2 bedroom window locks were broken. The gentleman repaired them. He couldn’t fix the outdoor shower which didn’t work either. I had also given Mike a list of what I felt was substandard for the money we paid for this rental. Both toilet bowls were crooked and so worn down and the lids were hanging off, the refrigerator was full of rust, the chairs around the table were all broken in the seat area and the legs were wobbly which was a safety hazard. The cushions they had were all stained. On our third day, the dryer broke so we hung our clothing and towels out to dry. Mike came the next day with a new dryer. The wooden floors in the home were all in a slant and uneven. The majority of the bedroom furniture was broken. We couldn’t close the drawers because pieces of wood were broken off and the bottom of one drawer was totally missing. The front room with the queen bed had no air conditioning which made it unbearable to sleep in. The window coverings were damaged and we couldn’t close the blinds. The couches and rugs were all stained and beat up. The indoor hvac unit was so loud we had to blast the tv to hear it. The location which is right on the beach was beautiful but the house needs a total overhaul. I’m disappointed with Follys Best Rentals.

Good experience overall.

Great experience overall. Had no major issues. Great access to the beach and local business. Only complaint is that due to the age of the house there were a lot of common house bugs.

What a dump!

NEVER AGAIN! The front door handle fell off. The TV and internet were disconnected- we had to set them up upon arrival. The only channel available is Nickelodeon. The refrigerator leaks so badly we have to keep a towel in front of it. The couches are absolutely filthy. The wooden chair on the back porch is broken and has two of the slats falling off. Four porch chairs are far from enough for a house that accommodates eight people. There is a gap between the front door & the ADJUSTABLE threshold. The door in room 2 will not shut and needs to be cut to fit. Door in room 1 (the Master) does not lock because the lock bolt & strike plate won’t align. The cleaning crew left trash under the couch. They also failed to remove the bag of shrimp BY the trash can so it smells wonderful at the front door (intense sarcasm!). I picked it up and placed in the trash can but not much of a difference until the trash can is emptied – the day we leave! The crud & corrosion around the faucets needs to be removed & cleaned- - It is disgusting. Both toilet seats are improperly secured & could double as skim boards. By the looks of them, it appears they were installed when toilets were first invented. There are no less than three light bulbs blown (kitchen and both baths), and the air duct in room 3 must be crushed in the attic because no air comes out of it - yes, you guessed it, it is a hot room! We thought of using it as a Sauna but the blind will not shut in that room. The dishwasher is so rusted that the prongs in the racks are snapping (some are already missing). The uneven floors are a hazard, which at the back door was masked by a rug. The place is so run down that I am embarrassed I booked this as a vacation rental for my wife, son, & daughter-in-law. The Owner apparently does not like to respond early on messages. I asked upon booking if we could get an early check-in & all I got was crickets until the day we arrived - you guessed it - couldn't get in until four (even though no one was here the day before). A simple response of “no, it’s a time lock” five weeks earlier would have been the courteous thing to do. There have been absolutely no updates to this house in well over 20 years. Prior to that, it was already in need of a great deal of them. Between the rust & the flaking paint, not sure if we need tetanus shots or masks for the peeling lead paint. I have pics if you need them! on the upside, there was ONE wine glass!

Amazing views!

I have already recommended this property to friends and definitely plan to stay here again. The only negative that I saw (an easy fix) was that the living room furniture needed cleaning. I highly recommend this place!
