We stayed at Allen House while in town for a baseball tournament. Our bracket games were held at fields in the neighborhood, about a mile from the home. The Field of Dreams movie site was about 10 minutes away. You can easily walk to several restaurants or the beautiful church in town. The house itself has plenty of space for a larger family to spread out and explore. I could even see a few families being able to stay here together. It was really cool that they had an upright piano and banjo. Shower was clean, water is plenty hot. I didn’t find a hair dryer so bring it you need.We only used one of the bedrooms and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen is large and clean. There are a lot of doors that open to the exterior but not all have a lock or chain you can secure from the inside. I would have felt safer if they did. There is a door to a basement and attic that we didn’t go into, but I would have liked if those were bolted as well. And windows don’t all stay open, so if you want fresh air in the house you’ll need to prop them up. Not that big of a deal for an older house, but something to note.We could get any of the tvs to connect to cable, dish, antenna, WiFi or streaming. DVD player didn’t work. Not a huge issue for us, we just watched on our phones, but may make a difference for some.We had hopes to play some catch in the front yard, but there was so much dog poop. Needs to be attended to.Overall a nice place, I would stay again.
