Authentic Custom-built Chalet is private, 3600 sqft, 18 acres, sleeps 13: 3 bedrooms, 1 King, 2 Queen, 3 Twin, 2 Queen sleeper-sofas, 3 full baths.

This A Frame Chalets home books quickly, because this one is special!

The Rye Chalet is a true custom built Artisan Chalet in a true Vermont experience. Rare for A Frame Chalets, enjoy Central AC (HVAC) on the two upper floors.

Each of three floors has a bedroom and full bath. Total beds: one King two queen, three twins, two queen sofa beds. Great for couples, kids, and well-behaved pets (see below, please).

With 3600 square feet of living space, the chalet offers several gathering areas, including two separate living rooms, a game table, a dining area, a 15x25' fire pit patio (Winter weather permitting), and a welcoming kitchen furnished down to the cookbooks. The kitchen also features a really cool induction cooktop and cookware. There are games galore and hundreds of interesting books in the library.

Artisan stone mason Simon Shultz created magnificent two-story stone columns that support the outside deck overlooking the photoready Hidden Valley. At the heart of Rye Chalet, a spectacular three-story stone core. A charming custom-built spiral staircase connects all three floors.

Bringing your little ones: As a courtesy to guests, we have our Graco Pack ‘n’ Play(s), highchair(s), booster, and toddler utensils ready. Just let us know when you book and all will be ready for you.

Well-Behaved Pets: One pet: $40/night, $140/week. Two pets: $60/night, $210/week. Three pets: $80/night, $280/week. Limit three pets and we have pet house rules for you. Unauthorized pets anytime during your stay will incur a $350 deep cleaning charge.

An additional private office separate from the Chalet...
The creative studio/office behind the Chalet is an optional add-on to the home rental. It's separate from the chalet, and is perfect for work, writers, creatives, meditation, yoga, or prayer. The office is Zoom-ready with high-speed internet, an Ethernet connection, 65” ROKU-ready WiFi TV, and an electric ambiance fireplace. Fee: $45/night, two night minimum, plus $35 cleaning fee. Available in the Winter–weather-permitting.

Another wonderful stay

This was our second stay at the chalet and it will not be our last. Accommodations were super. Chalet is spotless and roomy. Owners are responsive ti all inquiries. A perfect spot for much needed family time.

Incredible views from Rye Chalet

Great retreat!

The Rye Chalet was a great experience for our group. The house is extremely well provisioned and is clean and comfortable. Great views, surrounded by woods and blessed quiet. Easy access to neighboring towns and areas with lots to do, especially if you like hiking and outdoors. Excellent communications and support from the host. Would stay here again.

Absolutely beautiful, so peaceful

The Rye Chalet is definitely one of a kind! Me and my wife had a wonderfully relaxing time and felt right at home. The view from the deck is breathtaking, we still dream about it! We will definitely look to visit again when the weather is warmer.

Amazing stay

My family and I decided to book this wonderful place for my husbands 40th family. As soon as we pulled up it took my breath away. The scenery alone was spectacular. There was so much greenery everywhere we looked. Everything was stocked well and the host was excellent with questions when we asked. I definitely recommend this place and will be returning in the future.

Rye Chalet

Very nice and clean property with a beautiful view from the deck! The fire pit was lovely in the evening and the host supplied ingredients for making s’mores! The sky was completely clear and we enjoyed star gazing while we enjoyed the fire! The host provided quick responses to questions I asked and provided amazingly detailed information about the property, which was very much appreciated. I would definitely recommend the Rye Chalet to others and hope to stay again soon!!!

The perfect spot!

We stayed here with a group of friends for a mountain biking trip. We have stayed up at Kingdom Trails for the past 9 yrs and were looking to change it up. This spot was perfect! Close to all three trail heads, plenty of space for everyone indoors and out, great parking situation, not too far from town but felt very secluded. We had some questions about where things were stored while we were there and the hosts were incredibly responsive. Truly 5 star experience!

Great Home / Beautiful Location

Our family of four (5) (sons ages 7 and 10 and dog) stayed at the property in July '21. The house lived up to the listing/pics/reviews. The property was a great place for our family to unwind. Being able to bring along our furry family member was an added bonus. Location was great; as we were able to enjoy the benefits of the Adirondacks and the Green Mountains. Hope to be back in the future.

Great suggestion Janet. I’m assuming you are referring to the kitchen door. We cannot leave a key as previous guests forgot to leave them after check out. Great Long Weekend

We were down in the area for to attend the VT NH Shrine football game in Castleton and had several family members attending. The house and property were perfect for this with 3 seperate bedrooms. One thing we noticed immediately was how quiet it is, especially at night. Hang out on the deck and relax and enjoy. The house has just about everything you will need. Check in was easy. Thanks again for a great stay.

A great place

We spent two weeks here with our family and the house was perfect for our group. Big enough to spread out with great spaces to gather together. The house was very well stocked with high quality linens and towels, plenty of kitchen pots and pans, lots of dishes, mugs, and glasses, and some extra touches like supplies for s’mores, wood for the fire pit, and charging stations for our electronics throughout the house. Land is lovely and location great. You can walk into Wells and you are about 30 mins from great shops and restaurants in Dorset and Manchester. Highly recommend this house.

LUCKY US

My family was so fortunate to find this wonderful home away from home. We lacked for nothing. The three floors allowed us privacy when needed and the middle floor accommodated our large family comfortably and cozily. The kitchen had all the supplies for all of us to be comfortably seated AND the kitchen table was big enough to seat 9 of us with room to spare. The location was peaceful. There are many activities to participate in in the area. We especially liked Merck forest but would have been just as content staying in the whole time. We are hoping to return again for round 2. Wonderful house with gorgeous views

We loved staying at the Rye Chalet and will definitely rent it the next summer we are in VT. We vacation in VT almost every summer and used to rent the same house every time. For several years that house has not been for rent and we have been staying at other VRBO houses. None of them measured up to the views of the former rental u,til now. The photos of the interior of the chalet do not do it justice. It is much better in person. Also, the house was very clean. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the house. Thank you!

Rita and Kevin are trained graphic designers (Syracuse New School / Parsons School of Desin). We have always enjoyed sharing a creative experience with others and when we discovered a custom built chalet created with care and attention to detail, we fell in love and we wanted to share the experience. Since owning the Chalet, we have dedicated ourselves to updating and retaining its original design. We also brought back the art studio, now the creative studio, that we offer separately to writers, artists and open the doors for weddings.

Well, we offer unlimited Amazon Music, 3-story custom fireplace, a library of books and movies, and, of course, the separate work-from-home private creative studio behind the Chalet is available. Terrific fire pit patio that's ready for s'mores. Vermont's famous fresh air supplied by countless trees. Once there, you can feel ourselves relaxing.
