We are 1 of 6 exclusive & fully-furnished apartments within Casa LunaLoma, a lovingly restored 100 yr old Colonial Home, 5 min from Quito's Historic Center, Iconic Landmarks, Churches & Museums.

We are located in Barrio La Loma Grande a colonial neighborhood in old town Quito. We are just walking distance away from the must-visit spots in Quito like Plaza de Iglesia de Santo Domingo, Plaza de la Independencia, Presidential Palace, many Colonial churches as La Compania, San Francisco, Art Museums, and very close to the charming and very popular street of "La Ronda" where you can find classic Ecuadorian restaurants, super lovely traditional souvenir shops and cafes.

The neighborhood is relatively safe, yet please note it is still up and coming and it is not the gentrified part of Quito, which is what gives it it's unique character. We always advise to all of our guests to exercise common sense when walking within any area of Quito, in particular, Old Town Quito.

Getting around - And if you ever feel like visiting other Quito neighborhoods, the Trolley stops and buses is only about 800 meters from Casa Luna Loma.

The location was great as far as being within walking distance of a lot of things! The location was in a sketchy part of town after dark, so if you stay out after dark using their driver to get home (or an uber) is a really good idea. I wish the listing was up front about that. Then the strong suggestion to use their driver would make sense instead of our uber driver telling us it was a really bad area and scaring us half to death. It’s really not that bad. Just use common sense and follow the suggestions and you’ll be fine. Check-in was seamless and wonderful. Maria’s house is beautiful and historic, the rooms were all interesting and Care was put into each element. Esteban is a thorough and friendly host that’s easy to communicate with and checks in regularly as he helps others check in and out of the house. Also it’s a city so there will be noise throughout the night that’s unavoidable, so manage your expectations (bring earplugs), and the city is old and produces a lot of dust which comes in regularly through the beautiful historic doors and windows. This I also wish I knew starting out there, as it would have explained why my socks were dirty after walking around the room, and given me a reason to put the blankets through the dryer for a bit to knock off the dust. As it was my allergies acted up real bad.. thankfully after the third night we figured it out. I dusted, wiped down the surfaces and put all the blankets and pillowcases through the dryer and it was perfect

Hi Blossom, Thank you for your feedback and suggestions. I am glad you enjoyed the loft at Casa LunaLoma, though I am sorry to hear that you felt unsafe in the neighborhood. While the area is easily walkable during the day, safety concerns at night are common throughout Quito. For this reason, our host, Esteban, always recommends taking a taxi when traveling to and from the house in the evening. Among the hundreds of international guests we have hosted, none have reported security issues when following this advice. La Loma Grande is an authentic, non-gentrified neighborhood, which gives it its unique character. We will add a more detailed description of the location to our listing moving forward. Regarding the dust on the floor, this was likely due to keeping the windows open during the very windy summer season. I wish you could have talked directly to Esteban during your stay as he was always available to help address any issues and find a good solution. Daughter & Mother! We are originally from Quito, Ecuador, but now we live in Los Angeles, CA. Our family owns Casa LunaLoma, a beautifully restored 100-year-old colonial house in the heart of Old Town Quito and the house that raised my Mother and her 8 siblings. Needless to say, it's a very special home which our family has now opened its doors to welcome guest visiting Ecuador.

About us? …we are passionate for El Centro Colonial of Quito, urban revitalization, social impact work, ecotourism and design. Please feel free to reach out to us and connect if you are new to Quito and are looking for pointers and recommendations!

Pease note that this neighborhood is still up and coming and it is not the gentrified part of Quito, which is what gives it it's unique character. We always advise to all of our guests to exercise common sense when walking within any area of Quito, in particular, Old Town Quito.

The neighborhood is easily walkable during the day. As with most of Old Town and Quito in general, safety precautions should be taken at night. We strongly recommend taking a taxi when traveling to and from the house in the evening. Guests who follow this advice consistently report a safe and smooth stay.
