We invite you to enjoy our rustic waterfront hunting and fishing lodge in Engelhard NC. Engelhard is located in Hyde County, which is renowned for hunting, fishing, and birdwatching. If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place. It is the perfect remote location to hunt, fish, kayak, bird watch, and explore. It is also a great place to enjoy a good book and relax. We look forward to having you as our guest.

Other area attractions include Lake Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge (full of trails suited for hiking or biking), Charter boats and hunting guides are for hire in the area. Numerous State of North Carolina Game Lands surround the area.
The beaches of the Outer Banks (Nags Head) are 57 miles away.

Our home sleeps 9 with a rustic laid-back atmosphere including a full-size pool table and foosball. Grill, and Fire pit provided in the backyard. Some fishing, crabbing, beach equipment, two kayaks, two bikes, and a Jon boat are available for use. Please be aware, our home is not handicapped accessible, we do have stairs within the home.
Please note only small boats can navigate under the bridge between us and the harbor, large boats can launch/dock less than a mile from our home.

THE BEST!!!

A hunting trip of 7 friends and family. Early 20 to lower 70. Everything you could wish for in a place to stay. Crabing and fishing in the canal next to the house to pool and foose ball table in the house. Don't miss an opportunity to really have some super time of your group!!!

Had a good time. Family was together and we really enjoyed ourselves.

While this property was very clean, offered enough room to sleep 9, was well stocked for activities, staples like coffee, sugar, etc., was properly air conditioned, quiet for sleeping and room to park, it had the impression of walking into a bar. The kitchen was one step up from the normal floor level (I fell on the first night there), the bathrooms were two steps up, The floors were concrete and quite rough in the bedrooms. To our amusement, it seems to be haunted, but not threatening.

Great Hunting Lodge

Place was perfect for hunting getaway, close to the boat ramp. We thought we could bring the boat back up the creek to the house after launching, but my boat sat too high in the water (low bridge that only jon boats can fit under). Not a big deal bc public boat ramp is less than a mile from the house. Great setup with pool table, foosball and darts in the big common area. 3 bedrooms that will in-total sleep 5-6 adults comfortably. Owner was also very helpful with local knowledge and communicated well throughout our trip. Will definitely be booking again next duck season!
