Only the dunes separate you from the white sand beach of Gulf Shores at beachfront escape Mondo Kayo. This home is classic and charming, with views of the Gulf of Mexico throughout the open living space. Step inside after a day spent on the sand to bask in central air conditioning, free WiFi, and a private washer/dryer to refresh your swimsuits. Grab a seat outside on the covered, beachfront deck or head into the full kitchen to fix cold drinks and appetizers for your loved ones. You can dine at the table with a view of the gulf and spend the after-dinner hours playing games, admiring the colors of the sunset, and watching TV in the living room or one of the four bedrooms.


This gulf-front home sits three miles west of the heart of Gulf Shores, where you'll find all sorts of restaurants, cafes, ice cream parlors, shops, conveniences, and attractions. Down the peninsula are Fort Morgan State Historic Site, and the ferry to Dauphin Island is 24 miles west.

Second time staying at this house. Perfect spot for a family get away. House is comfortable for 6 adults and 5 little childrens.

Nice 4 bedroom for families

The house overall is a bit older but fairly well maintained. The furniture could be updated but the beds were pretty good. Location to the beach is great. The area outside the house is not crowded - you basically have the area out the back of your house to yourself. The house is well laid out with 4 bedrooms including a bunk room. Deck is partially covered for rainy days. The downsides no hot water in outdoor shower and no hose under house to wash beach chairs and other items from sand. Overall - location is great and house is well set up.

Beautiful views

It was clean it’s just that the refrigerator looked old and a little rusty so we thought it was dirty until we couldn’t get it off. There should be a blanket in each room but that’s not a deal breaker since we could pull from the twin beds. Other than that we have no complaints.

House is situated in a great location. Unfortunately during our stay it was primarily double red flags so we couldn’t do what we traditionally enjoy, surf fishing. The close proximity to the little lagoon pass allowed us to walk to it and get our fishing fix. House is in a perfect location and the deck is great to sit and relax.

When we arrived our code would not work, a phone call and 20 minutes later we finally got in. 3 days later same thing happened. The house could definitely use a little updating and better cleaning I think. Couches were stained, measuring spoons were in the TV cabinet and on the table, lint on the walls. Not a terrible house but could use a little more attention to detail in my opinion. Location is perfect!

Vacasa communication is BAD

Now that Vacasa has taken over this listing, the communication is awful. No personal communication like in the past, just corporate chatbot, or long hold times and a person in the Philippines or somewhere who has no authority and just reads from a script. In the past I have been able to get check in information at least a day or two before. This year they said no check in information until 24 hours before check in, but I did NOT RECEIVE IT UNTIL MUCH LATER THAN THAT. When you are trying to coordinate several people's travel plans, you need to be certain the check in will go as planned.

Good visit

It was a nice property and excellent location. Nice to be a little further away from the hotels for a quieter beach. A few things such as Kleenex, extra blankets, paper towels, etc would have been nice. But overall had a good stay

Great location and layout!

We visit Gulf Shores almost every year. We rent beach houses for the freedom and homie feeling. This was our first time renting this home and coming in October. It was cooler at night and there were only thin summer sheets and bed covers, no extra blankets, sheets, or comforters anywhere in the home. This was our only big down fall, however, Vacasa did bring us additional bedding which was a plus. The homes decor is outdated and there was a smell when we first walked in. But overall, we loved the location of this home, easy access to town, right on the water, quite neighbors, great size rooms, plenty of bathrooms, and enjoyed the porch. Part of the porch is covered which was nice to sit under but also having the sun to sit in and enjoy the warmth. The patio furniture is cheap and filmize. Our family of 7 stayed comfortably and could come back again.

Family trip that turned into a saftey hazard.

The location is excellent, you'll see beautiful sunrises & sunsets. Thats about all the positives I can say about this property. Unfortunately we had one thing after another. Starting with the double door going in, only one door opens. That in itself isn't a big deal, however, the windows won't stay open. They slam shut! Im surprised the glass hasnt shattered yet. We had to prop them open with the puzzle boxes they had in the living room. Needless to say we couldn't have the windows open halfway because the puzzle boxes weren't big. This is EVERY window in the dining, living & master bedroom. Some of the windows wouldn't lock. The dining room window fell out while we were gone....and it was closed when we left. The top of the window had nothing holding it in. Another dining room window didn't have a screen. The master bedroom window also fell out. It falls down as well. The master bath toilet doesn't fill with water all the time, I had to open the tank & push down the stopper more times than I cared to keep track of. The highlight of the stay was being woke up at 600am to broken glass. The dining room light fell off the ceiling & shattered on the dining room table. There was broken glass all over the kitchen, dining & living rooms. I called & they sent a maintenance man a few hours later. He couldn't believe it happened. He said we were lucky we weren't sitting at the table when it happened. He used a shop-vac but there was still glass all over. We had to keep our shoes on the entire time after that. They were supposed to send the cleaning crew, we never heard from them again. We brought the window issue to his attention & he said it was a child safety thing. He proceeded to show us how they're supposed to work & realized they really didn't work. All he said was he didn't have a problem with us using the puzzles to keep them open. There was also a dining room chair that was quite wobbly. My kids refused to even sit on it. The refrigerator wasnt the cleanest but not terrible. The dressers in the bedrooms are in need of tlc or replaced. The drawers aren't on tracks & will fall out. The pans provided are in desperate need of being replaced. They were terrible. Across the street is a neighborhood & they all walk right through the yard to go to the beach. It gets very intrusive at times. All in all we made the best of it but I will not be renting this specific house again. Gulf Shores gave us memories, the house gave us headaches.

A/C doesn’t work

First let me start by saying we are very disappointed in the handling of the situation. When we first arrived we were so happy to be staying in what we thought was a very nice cottage on the beach. The first night I set the thermostat only 70 degrees and nothing turned on so we thought maybe it is just not hot enough inside since we had the doors open moving our belongs inside. We turned the fans on just to realize that half of them make a grinding noise anywhere above low and it was hot. So we opened the windows and only 2 in the living room would stay open by themselves. Only one in the master bedroom would stay open on it on also. We texted someone and also emailed about the air conditioning but when the maintenance man came out he said there was nothing he could do. We thought that meant a repair man would be out to fix the problem. We were wrong again but we were at the beach and going to make the best of the situation for our children who were also complaining about how hot it was. After we got the windows propped open so they would fall fast and break or damage everything we got wind. It was very nice a cooled things off but wind brings sand on the beach and a lot of it. The last night when we realized there was no chance for a fixed A/C unit we braved for another night with windows and doors open, which is not safe in my opinion. Then we got rain because the storm came through and we had to chose wet floors and clothes that were packed or have stelae hot air while trying to sleep. During our stay we also had to leave someone at the house, since the doors and windows were open. We did go out to eat 2 nights but when we returned and opened the door in was like a furnace.

Perfect Home Away From Home

We have stayed at this property several times and it just gets better and better. It is such a comfortable spot right on the beach with amazing waterfront views. The owner has built a great deck to sit outside and enjoy the view or you can sit inside and enjoy it as well. We will definitely stay here again. Can’t wait!

Great stay

Had a blast. Easy access to the water. House was clean and well kept. Only complaint was that there needs to be a fence between the houses. People from the houses across the street were constantly walking up our driveway and through the side yard to get to the beach.
