Welcome to Funky Leucadia where you are greeted with old north county vibes and new energy. The Leucadia Place is a quaint 2bed/2bath updated 1927 home perched on the hillside facing the pacific. No a/c but coastal breezes keep things fresh and cool with beautiful sunsets too!

Coming soon (mid-2025) EV Charging station!!!

the Leucadia Place is best for a couple with a child (or two) or a couple with a friend. Please look at the full description to see if our place suits you. A rare and unique quality of a vacation rental is that WE ARE dog/cat FRIENDLY and have no size restrictions but please pay the pet fee and let us know so we can set up. If you're fur-ball tears up the things, it happens, but we expect you to be upfront about it and accommodate repairs/replacement.

Does the calendar look booked? Please ask about availability, though the calendar appear blocked, the place may still be available. We are pacing guests.

West of interstate 5 and east of coast highway, we are perfect for a seasonal track rental or a weekend stay! Summer season is on, Bing Crosby season is November 3-28! 15% discount on 28+ day stay!

The home is just a short 8 miles north (10-15 min) from the Del Mar Race track so if you're looking to rent for the 2024 track season, ask ASAP for an inclusive monthly rate. The dates may be pre-blocked for this opportunity so please reach out.

Don't waste your energy on a hotel when you can have your own little home, with all a home has to offer but with no parking fees, no resort fees, and no waiting in lines. Plenty of space for 2 cars behind the electric gate.

The primary bedroom has a nice, firm queen size bed with en-suite bathroom and the secondary bedroom provides a twin-sized trundle bed with a select comfort upper mattress and a firm trundle underneath.

We are fully furnished with a full kitchen, full laundry, equipped for a quick get away or long unplug. Its a beautiful and rustic home sitting on a large lot, with orange, lemon, grapefruit trees and lots of space.

Bringing a four legged friend? No problem. Just know that with the size of the lot and rural surrounding properties, skunks, opossums and raccoons have been seen from time to time.

A large outdoor deck is great for afternoon lunches and evening sunsets.

The owner lives locally and can be available if anything arises.

Weekly/bi-weekly cleaning available at an extra charge.

This was one of my favorite VRBO stays yet, out of so many! Jason was a wonderful host, and made us feel welcome, and informed. He even provided dog bowls and a dog bed for our dog! The Leucadia place is one of a kind, right in the midst of a darling coastal town, yet so secluded feeling. The kitchen was perfectly outfitted for all the cooking we wanted to do, including grilling outside. The bed was very comfortable, with luxurious linens. My grandsons and dog loved having a place to run around and play, and we loved the ocean views and the fresh citrus for breakfast. We will definitely be back!

I've never walked into a cleaner short term rental! Jason was a warm and well organized host. The neighborhood is quiet and a short walk from Leucadia's drag of the coast highway--coffee shops, wood fired pizza, record stores, beach access. It's a timeless place, perfect for our weekend with two discerning teens.

We had such a wonderful stay! From the moment we arrived, our host made us feel completely welcome — even our dogs were spoiled with special treats! The backyard was perfect for them to run and play, and we loved picking fresh citrus to make orange juice in the mornings (the oranges were amazing!). The property was wonderful. Once you drove through the gates, you enjoyed total peace and privacy. The house was comfortable and exceptionally clean. We didn’t need anything while we were there. Jason was a great communicator and answered all our needs. Our dog, Winnie, loved exploring the yard with the fruit trees and pathways.

This little beach house was the cutest and best property to stay at that we could’ve asked for! It made our first time in Encinitas all the better, especially for Beacon’s beach access and proximity to the cute town. I loved how welcoming the host was and the place was clean, secure, and dog friendly. Even had incredible fruit trees! There was nothing more we needed as far as amenities go. Thank you for such a positive experience that we’ll never forget!

This spot is excellent! Jason was super attentive and helpful when needed. The location is perfect: walking distance to food and fun. Check in was so easy, Jason was an absolute dream. So so helpful and responsive! Waking up and seeing the ocean from the front door healed my soul. Loved the private parking behind the gate, and feeling like we had the whole place to ourself. Even picked a fresh grapefruit from the tree for breakfast! Would come back again and again!

Beautiful Property

Beautiful property, fantastic location

We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back again! The hosts were super responsive and friendly. The house had everything we needed. Best part of the rental is definitely the property - fully fenced and great for dogs. Partial view of the ocean as well which was a nice bonus.

Relaxing Stay Near the Beach

Outstanding rental property for those traveling with pets! The house is walking distance from downtown Leucadia/Encinitas but on a quiet street. The property is huge, fully-fenced and well-landscaped with lots of fruit trees and a small garden. Partial ocean views throughout. Nicely furnished. Host was great. We loved our stay.

Great beach get away

Beautiful home in an amazing location

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay! The owner was very hospitable and great to communicate with. The home was very clean and had all the things we like to enjoy a vacation. The home was private and gated and on a hill with views of the ocean. Very close proximity to restaurants and the beach. We look forward to staying here again. We highly recommend this home!

Having known this property for over 20 years its exciting to share its charms and quirks with you (there are not many spaces like this still around). Why choose the Leucadia Place? If you're looking for a private space with more than a hotel can offer at a better price, this is it. Up a private driveway and behind a gate you'll find our spot. Its a work in progress but already has so much to offer.

Though about 1/4 mile from the ocean, when the wind is blowing from the west, you can hear the waves. Sunsets are spectacular and you can enjoy them on your own private deck.

Leucadia is an up and coming area and you can easily walk to coast highway and visit all that is going on. Just south of you is Encinitas, Cardiff, Solana Beach and Del Mar (home of the world famous Del Mar race track) and Torrey Pines and La Jolla home of the world famous Torrey Pines Golf Course.

To the north is La Costa, Carlsbad, Oceanside and beyond. There are amazing spas and resorts in the area and you can stay with us, visit the resorts for your spa and tee times and not deal with the crowds when you return to this private space.

North County San Diego beats to a different drum than San Diego proper and Leucadia even more so. Its a great balance of San Diego and old San Diego. Great bars, restaurants, surf spots and chill vibes. Its just a nice tempo.
