Welcome to our 1945 modern country home! Our house has the best of both worlds, original shiplap mixed with modern amenities and will surely speak to everyone in the group. We are just a few miles away from downtown Waco in a quiet neighborhood so you can enjoy the peacefulness of a sunset on our screened in back porch all while still being close to everything Waco has to offer. We hope our home will help bring long lasting memories during your stay!

Our place has the modern country feel with a little bit of fun added to make it family friendly!

Please note- our beds include 1 King, 1 Queen, 2 Doubles, 1 Twin, 2 Twin Rollaways, and 1 crib.

The master bedroom/bathroom are on the first floor along with the half bathroom. Three more bedrooms and a full bath are on the second floor.


PLEASE READ BELOW RULES BEFORE BOOKING:

-PARKING:
Parking allows for a max of FOUR vehicles. We have a large driveway where all cars must park. There is no street parking allowed on our street and no parking in our front yard. If there are more than four cars traveling in, please plan accordingly to park any additional cars elsewhere.

-We have another short term rental (a tiny house) that is right next door. Please be respectful of our guests staying there and give them their privacy. The only shared space you will have with the tiny house is the entrance to the main driveway.

-Absolutely no parties or events!! We are not equipped to host large gatherings and do not allow additional people other than the those who are included on the reservation!!

-CHILDREN:
The house is child friendly, and you are welcome to bring children of any age (we have a 3 year old ourselves!), but please be aware the house is not "childproof"- there are stairs (a baby gate is provided at the stairs), we do have potted plants, and books and other decorative items within reach. It is your responsibility to evaluate the suitability of the property for your kids' needs.

-PETS:
We allow up to 2 pets however, they are only allowed on the first floor and in the backyard. Please no pets upstairs on the carpet or on the furniture in the house.

-Quiet Hours- 10:00pm - 6:00am

-No smoking (including vaping) inside the house.

-No fires in the fireplace and no portable firepits for the yard.

Everything was wonderful!! Only criticism I had was that 2 of the bedrooms upstairs had very slanted ceilings that were completely fine for small children but adults would have a very hard time walking in those rooms and getting in and out of the beds due to the steeply slanted ceilings. We only had one small issue with the front door lock while we were there and Meryl took care of it immediately which I appreciated very much!

We had the BEST time with family over the weekend and this place was so perfect for us! We enjoyed both the outdoor and indoor space!! The kids (and adults) enjoyed the old school video games! Plenty of space for family meals! Host was very kind and quick to respond to questions! We will be booking here again!

Perfect House for Ladies Trip!

A group of us got together for a mutual friend’s birthday - the twist is that none of us had met prior! This house was perfect with several living spaces to spread out, several rooms including a gorgeous master that made birthday girl feel like a queen! Everything needed to cook meals, enjoy drinks, relax. And the mattresses were amazing!!! Everyone left commenting they wanted me to find out what the mattresses or mattress topper was so they can get on from home. I even drew the short stick and was in the smaller room that has the double bed and twin bed in it… even those mattresses were fabulous! The home was VERY well stocked with essentials, never lacking for anything. The cherry on top? A super straightforward and simple checkout process. 10/10 in all regards!

Hidden Gem !

This was our 1st time staying at a VRBO and we had the best experience. We volunteered to fostering a neighbors dog and have 2 dogs of our own which now makes 3. We decided to take a quick trip not realizing most places only accepted 2 dogs. Before booking, we messaged the host (Meryl), let her know our situation and asked if it was possible to bring 3 dogs. We were so happy how kind and accommodating she was. Our little one went from oh no! We won’t be able to take a trip… to Yay we can take a trip and bring the dogs ! WoW! From the moment we drove up and walked in, this charming home was exactly what was pictured. We stayed for 2 days (myself, husband, 9 yo and our 3 dogs), to celebrate our little one finishing up the school year. We drove to Blue Hills Ranch and did the safari tour which was so much fun and wasn’t too far. The location was great and was not far from restaurants/shopping etc. Meryl was very responsive and everything was so seamless. Our favorite part was the upstairs game/entertainment room and the Large yard with enclosed back patio. There was a variety of family board games as well as several stand up arcade games that kept us entertained. The house was well supplied and it made us feel like we were staying with family. We had everything we needed!Meryl, Thank you for opening up your beautiful and cozy home. We definitely enjoyed our stay and made some fun memories and will be coming back… next time bringing Grandma.-De La Cruz Family

Waco retreat

House looked small from outside but was surprisingly roomy inside. Cozy and all the beds were very comfortable! House had a funky odour we all noticed - almost like a skunk but we couldn’t smell it outside. Back porch was our undeniable favourite place but wasn’t swept and generally could have been cleaner. Also, one of the upstairs bedrooms didn’t have a window. That room needed a bedside table and lamp. Other than that, the house was great. After being out and about every day, it was wonderful to come back in evenings to recap our day on the back porch listening to the birds!!

Charming Home

The Shiplap Cottage was truly charming! It was very clean and had the perfect amount of bedrooms for our family Christmas get together. The kids as well as the adults enjoyed the board games and video games. Would definitely stay here again!!!

Hi, I'm Meryl! I live in Robinson, TX - just outside of Downtown Waco. I am originally from Grapevine, TX and have lived in this great state my whole life. My fiancé Andrew, (co-host) works for the Fire Department and I am a stay at home mom to our two year old son. I also love redoing furniture, anything DIY, and find joy in thrifting and showing how to design on a dime! We both love traveling, being outdoors, and are always looking for our next adventure. We would love to host your next VRBO stay :)

Our home is a short drive to downtown Waco, about 10 minutes until you are in the middle of everything! Then come back to our quiet neighborhood to a home that is relaxing, comfortable, and full of character!

Our home truly speaks to everyone in the group-
We have areas for sitting and relaxing, areas for games/movies, a full kitchen, a dining area, a laundry room with washer and dryer, and a spacious backyard with yard games. Sit on the screened in back porch or lay in the hammock and watch the sunset!

Our sleeping areas include-
-Master Bedroom (1st floor): King Bed

Bedroom #1 (2nd floor): Queen Bed
Bedroom #2 (2nd floor): 1 Full bed, 1 Twin bed
-2 Twin rollaway's that can be placed anywhere

-We do allow pets! There is a MAX of 2 pets per booking. We just ask that they stay on the first floor and off of the furniture.

-We have a spacious driveway for your parking needs however, there is a MAX of 4 cars per booking. We live on a street that does not allow street parking so all cars must be parked in the driveway and we need to assure there is plenty of room for people to still get in/out of the driveway comfortably.

-We do have a tiny house on the premises that could be occupied by a different rental group during your stay and we ask that you respect their privacy and be mindful of the noise level. The only thing that is shared with the tiny house is the entry to the driveway, otherwise it is completely separate.
