Paradise on Private 15 Acre Wildlife Sanctuary

The Craftsman cottage is on a private 15 acre wetland providing excellent views of a wide range of birds and other wildlife. French doors open to a deck and huge yard that meets the wetland and walking path around the ponds. Less than 2 miles from the house, enjoy kayaking and walking the Luckiamute Landing Trails at the confluence of the Luckiamute, Santiam and Willamette rivers. Relaxed open design, vaulted ceilings, queen beds, wifi, smart tv with Netflix, full kitchen and coffee bar.

The kitchen was equipped with everything you could think of. Possibly could use a coffee pot but we were fine with Keurig. The bedding/blankets were over the top. All very soft and clean. Easy departure requirements. Perfect setting too.

Amenities were above all expectations!! Lovely surroundings and accommodations! It was a work trip and I shared this with the entire corporation! No more hotels! My only suggestion is for a larger or additional rug in the bath. Wildlife was audible and visible! Wild turkeys, beavers, frogs and elk bugles in the night

The stay was wonderful as always. The kitchen was stocked with gadgets I never knew I needed. The wildlife was in abundance with geese, turkeys, ducks and a last minute appearance by a deer. Sixth time staying here.

This lovely home had everything from coffee to Q-Tips! There was nothing that we needed that they didn’t have! I loved the layout of the home and the peaceful surroundings! We knew it was somewhat remote so we took food with us to cook. While we didn’t see many birds due to the rain, we did see some wild turkeys in the blackberry field, We visited some nearby wineries set among gorgeous rolling hills. We hope to return again!

This was a fantastic get away. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything we could need. I love the location and we identified so many different birds in the area. And the wild turkeys visited everyday. The host did a great job with every little detail. It was quiet and peaceful and a true retreat.

Paradise in the country. Lacked for nothing and close to good food and wineries. Great place to take a walk and get close to nature. The cottage shows close attention to every detail. I wish our stay was longer.

This was an amazing place. The attention to detail was amazing. The kitchen was so well appointed with condiments in the frig and staples in the pantry. There was a wonderful selection of keurig pods avaiable with syrups to add to your cup. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom had lush towels and plenty of them! The claw foot bathtub was wonderful. The lighting throughout the house was well appointed. The grounds were amazing - lots of places to explore. Will be back again.

We absolutely loved our stay! The host was so welcoming and friendly. It was our first time renting an electric car so we didn’t know about different plugs. When her plug didn’t work, she went the extra mile and found a friend willing to let us use their charger. All of the little touches, like fresh eggs from her chickens & bubble bath, made the stay even more special. Plus the views from the deck were incredible! She also had a binder full of information about the region! We would stay here when we visit again.

Absolutely STUNNING!!!!!

Where do I start!!!! Planning our first trip to Oregon and this property immediately stood out. Needless to say on arrival day my family and I were overwhelmed with the beautiful property! Talk about GORGEOUS and so Peaceful! On the inside of this beautiful gem, not only was it inviting, spotless, organized and the most comfortable house we have ever been in on vacation!! My own home does not even look this good!!! My family and I were in heaven and hated to leave. Did I mention the beds and bedding were by far the best EVER! Talk about being on clouds! We can’t wait to book again next summer!!! My only regret about this property, was not booking a longer stay…..

My husband and I had a great time at this place. Very clean. We saw turkeys and little babies and we also had a nest outside our front door with some baby birds in it. It's accessible to downtown Independence, which is very cute. Little town and you can go many places from here that are not too far. It was very relaxing and quiet. We will hopefully be back again

Beautiful little 2 bedroom home.

Everything was accurate for the listing and the door code was provided in advance. There were many small amenities including coffee/tea, bath items (including bubble bath for the large tub), games/puzzles, and even farm fresh eggs in the fridge.

Enchanted Cottage

Aesthetically we stepped back into a simpler, nostalgic time while enjoying all the benefits of today’s convenience updates. The hosts thought of everything to make our stay, comfy -in a luxurious way Bottles of fragrant bubble bath to enhance a nice soak in the claw foot tub (with a view of their pond ) is just one example. Two fun personalized touches were the farm fresh eggs we found in the frig and birthday napkins stocked in the lovely coffee bar area to celebrate my husbands special day. Clean, Classy, Cozy Country Retreat could summarize what we enjoyed this week at Anderson House in Indrpendence….definitely a 5 Star stay

It is a sanctuary, inside and out!!

This place is perfect! The owners have astounding attention to details. Cozy beds with nice linens awaited us after a day exploring the area! Amazing coffee bar greeted us each morning (and sometimes in the afternoon)! Enjoyed sitting on the back deck to watch the many birds living on the sanctuary. They even provided binoculars and books to help identify the many different birds around. Kitchen was set up with everything we needed to make our dinners at night. Stayed here a few years ago when we dropped our daughter off at OSU, stay again for a visit and this trip was to attend her graduation. Hoping something in the future will bring us back this way again. BEST place we have ever stayed!!

We are a mother-daughter team who love traveling, camping, hiking, gardening and bird watching. Dee is a long-time residence of the area since relocating for love from Vancouver, Canada in the early 1950’s. Kathryn and her husband moved into the Anderson dairy farm almost 30-years ago. Over the years, Kathryn and her husband have been reclaiming the land back into the original wetlands from a soggy hay field. They planted trees and dug the ponds then waited while nature did the rest. Soon after the ponds were done, birds, frogs, fish, beaver, otter and other wildlife moved in. We love to watch the wide variety of activity on the 15 acres and look forward to sharing the experience with you.

We are centrally located 10-30 minutes from Salem, Albany, Corvallis, Independence and Monmouth and minutes from several hiking and kayaking/boating activities in a secluded area where you can relax and unwind from your daily activity.

The 900 sq. ft. Craftsman house is on a private 15 acre wetland providing excellent views of a wide range of birds and other wildlife. French doors open to a deck and huge yard that meets the wetland and walking path around the ponds. Less than 2 miles from the house, enjoy kayaking and walking the Luckiamute Landing Trails at the confluence of the Luckiamute, Santiam and Willamette rivers. Relaxed open design, vaulted ceilings, queen beds, Wi-Fi, smart tv with Netflix, HBO, Disney+, full kitchen and coffee bar.

The view from the deck and back yard provide closeup bird and wildlife viewing opportunities not found most places. In the spring, you can watch proud Canada Geese parents out with their Goslings feeding in the lawn and swimming in the pond. The evening brings out hundreds of Swallow's feeding over the pond. At night you will hear Coyotes howling and see owls silently hunting for their dinner.
