Staying at the Coorong Island Retreat, you’re a guest of nature – slumbering, playing, and exploring the Murray River, Lakes and Coorong - the region embodies all of nature’s brilliance and boasts an abundance of native and local produce, breathtaking scenery, and remarkable Australian wildlife.
Flowing for more than 2,500 kilometres into the Lakes of the Coorong in South Australia, the Murray River is over 130 million years old and is rich with Ngarrindjeri* history, culture, and heritage.

Surrounded by Yarli (Lake Albert) overlooking Bascombe Island and on the banks of Kennedy Bay, the Coorong Island Retreat is a tranquil secluded treat for holiday makers looking to escape everyday life.

Offering relaxed comfortable accommodation with immediate access to the water, the Coorong Lake Retreat is a pet friendly holiday home with a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, three generous bedrooms (Sleeping eight to twelve guests) a large BBQ and covered parking area, Smart TVs with unlimited Internet and water views from every room.

The Coorong Lake Retreat is ideal for Jet Skiing and boating – it’s a fishers and birdwatchers paradise.

We loved the house. Very well appointed clean and comfortable

We were a group of over 75 year olds. Plenty of room for some disability equipment needed for 2 people. We just had the best time. Loved outlook from the lovely big windows .

A stunning stay and a wonderful host

A beautiful place to stay, relax, refresh and recharge. Everything taken care of by the superb host, Nav. So many extras included, we were pleasantly surprised. Great time had by all

Though the weather wasn’t kind to us we really enjoyed our stay. The place was nice and the views spectacular, my son who loves animals was blown away by how close the farm animals and the kangaroos came to the house. The caretaker was excellent with helping with any issues/queries and the owner was responsive to queries.

More like a 3.5 to 4 star.

It was a nice stay, lovely views, and quiteness. Beautiful spot. But planned on cooking a roast in the fire over, but no pans that fitted, lacking utensils. Barbie was old and soiled, couches stained. Not unhappy but a little over priced and not 5 star, more like 3.5 to 4 star.

Dear Michelle, Thank you for staying at my property and detailed feedback. I am not very happy to hear that you rate my property 3.5 to 4 star especially when your group had such a wonderful time last weekend. My kitchen is well stocked with all the essentials, it is interesting to hear about the need for a suitable pan for fireplace oven, I will have a look into it, that's easy to organise another pan! Couches deep cleaning is in our maintenance agenda, previous guest left those strains and it takes a while to get professional couch cleaners down here. Barbie is always left clean for guest, it possibly the dust got in from surround which you weren't happy about. It's a 4 Burner BBQ, works really well for a big group. Property pricing is competitive, please feel free to make a comparison with similar modern secluded waterfront property, you will find mine is much cheaper than them. Very happy to take your other feedback onboard to offer future guest a better experience. Thank you again for staying with us.

Short but not so sweet

The property was amazing. The goats & llama make it a not so friendly 'pet friendly' stay. Due to life & death medical reasons - we had to leave a day early & didn't have time to tidy up as we were on a very tight timeline to make it back ti Adelaide. I expressed this to the owner and said we hadn't cleaned up and why but we were still charged the night we didn't stay AND a cleaning fee.

Thank you for choosing our property to stay. As per our house rules, pets are expected to stay on leash on pastures as it is shared by livestock and wildlife. We understand your disappointment however the conditions in which the property was left was not so good. It took several hours to clean and also the damages were too many, dents on the refrigerator, scratches on linen cupboard, empty fire extinguishers, etc. Regarding the charges please refer to your booking conditions on Vrbo.

OK, but not great.

Thanks for hosting us last weekend. The property was well-maintained and had all necessary facilities. Despite a heatwave, the air-conditioning kept us comfortable indoors. However, the description (‘the Coorong Island Retreat is a tranquil secluded treat’ and ‘Having the whole peninsular to yourself’) of tranquillity was misleading; other groups were nearby on the same peninsular in caravans, hindering our solitude. Also, a backyard security camera made us feel uneasy. While the property has positives, the negatives outweighed our desire to return.

Dear Chris, Thank you so much for staying with us. I regret few things didn't go according to your expectations. I agree there are more than one accomodation options at my resort like camping and caravan BnBs (as visible on site plan in the listing), however these are far away from the house that these accomodations do not impact the guest stay in the main house. Security cameras are important to ensure safety of the property, the guests and their belongings while they are staying with us. I have taken your feedback onboard and listing has been updated.
