Situated in the community of Cleone, 2 miles north of the Fort Bragg city limits, in a country type setting, close to one of the best beaches and coastal accesses, the North Coast Retreat is the perfect get-away. The house is well appointed for families; friends and remote workers, as well as those who want to enjoy life, appreciating the beauty of nature and the coastal spirit. Just a short walk to the beach, where beautiful ocean views and sunsets are abundant. Bright skies, galaxies of stars, and the calming sound of the ocean are prevalent at this one acre property. Deer, birds and other wild life are thriving on the property for viewing enjoyment. Located close to MacKerricher State Park and the Haul Road paved trail, which provides a bike/walk path that takes you to Glass Beach, as well as the many galleries, shops, restaurants, and other attractions in the downtown area of Fort Bragg. Take a step back from busy lifestyles to enjoy the coastal spirit while staying at the North Coast Retreat. The house has a new roof with solar power for energy efficiency.

We had a wonderful stay at this rental house in Cleone, California. The location was perfect—close to beautiful coastal attractions while still offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The owners were fantastic to work with, providing excellent communication before and throughout our stay, which made everything smooth and stress-free. The house was well-equipped with great amenities and had everything we needed to feel comfortable and at home. We truly enjoyed our time here and would happily stay again. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

The stay was excellent for our family of five. The home had plenty of space for us to hang out, have meals, and relax after a day at the beach or a day of activities in Fort Bragg. There were plenty of things for our kids to do and were kept entertained during our stay. The kitchen is well equipped and bedrooms are comfortable. Also being close to the beach was a huge plus. Definitely an incredible choice to stay at.

Was highly disappointed that I was not told that there was an additional house on property. Look like person was permanent resident. Felt uncomfortable. No privacy at firepit. Garbage cans were full when I arrived. Had to take trash with me.

Weekend family trip

We had a great time staying here! The kids loved all the activities in the garage. The property was super cute and very comfortable for our family of four! We enjoyed walking to Ward Ave beach access each day. We would definitely stay here again.

Our second visit to this home.

We enjoyed a great get away from the inland heat. Was beautiful weather. We enjoyed the house very much. Saw many deer and a baby deer too.

We were quite surprised to get your review over one month since your stay at our property; the long delay is unusual. And, we were shocked at your 2 star rating. Your positive comment is very contrary to your rating. In addition, your rating is so different than all of the other ratings of 5, with comments regarding the exceptional location, amenities, host communication, and cleanliness. We altered the house rules to allow you to bring 2 dogs and offered early/late check in/out to enhance your stay. You contacted VRBO with a comment a week prior to your arrival, when you failed to respond to my correspondence. We corrected the housekeeper blunder which has no impact on the quality of your stay. We apologize for any inconvenience you feel. We strive to provide a wonderful experience for our guests, which is evident by their ratings, comments, and reflections left in the guest book.

Lovely stay in Fort Bragg

Great property with all amenities (well stocked kitchen, plenty of games) and walking distance to the beach. We enjoyed watching the deer from the lovely backyard. Great location, close enough to town, friendly and highly responsive owners.

Great place with everything you need.

We enjoyed the neighborhood with a short and easy walk to the ocean and beaches. This home has everything you need and the backyard is beautiful! The owners were helpful and easy to communicate with! Definitely will stay here again on next visit to Ft Bragg.

Fantastic family place.

We felt welcome and very comfortable from he start. The house and yard were perfect for our toddler and pets. very nice neighborhood and so close to then beach and haul road.

Very well equipped, very comfortable,great mattresses. We tried to think of something they didn't have: a garlic press.Great communication with the owner. Lovely yard to sit in and look at the deer. Close to the campground where my kids were staying. Thank you!

Coastal Getaway

This house was the perfect spot for a family getaway to the coast. The proximity to the beach was perfect. The house was as shown on line (if not better), and the house was comfortable, well stocked and the yard was gorgeous. The hosts were very responsive. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

Amazing location

Great location, few minute walk from beach, now too far from downtown. Place was clean. There was some ant problem in bathroom,but overall very nice stay.

Beautiful home and outdoor space

Wonderful property and location. Hosts are very communicative and clear with instructions. My favorite feature was the fire pit as it sparkled at night (fire can be seen through the holes in an old washing machine drum). We thoroughly enjoyed are stay, had everything we could need and more. Thank you for sharing your lovely beach home. We look forward to returning.

Howard and Kelly bought the North Coast Retreat several years ago and have been busy updating and enhancing the property. They live in the Bay Area and plan to use the property as a family vacation spot and private retreat upon retirement. The property and area provide them soul replenishment from busy lifestyles and work schedules. During hot summer days, the ocean breeze is refreshing/cooling and the clean air is beneficial during the bad air quality days now common in California during wild fire season.

The location is premium! Ward Avenue wraps along the ocean front with direct beach access in several areas. Many homes in the neighborhood are vacation rentals or family owned retreats. When there is fog in the downtown area of Fort Bragg or nearby Mendocino, the blue skies of this neighborhood are appreciated. The property is located outside of the city limits, with a rural type setting. The property has a detached cottage, which is sometimes rented. An RV site at rear of then property is for occasional use by owners; it has previously been rented on VRBO.

The home has a private gated back yard as well, with a deck, patio furniture, and a BBQ.
