We spent a week at this cottage with positives and negatives. The house has a rustic charm that fits perfectly with its wooded Maine setting. Built in the 1930s, it features exposed beams, wall studs, a large stone fireplace, and decor that creates an authentic New England cottage feel. The large yard and five-minute walk to the ocean were highlights. The home comfortably accommodated our group of eight, with spacious bedrooms, ample seating areas, and a well-stocked kitchen.Prospective renters should understand that this is an older home and it shows its age in places. Access to the primary suite requires walking through another bedroom. While the house was generally clean, we noticed a few areas with mold and some musty curtains. The mattresses were worn and tended to sag toward the middle. The bed advertised as a king is actually two twin mattresses pushed together, creating a noticeable ridge down the center. We also experienced slow Wi-Fi, inconsistent electrical outlets, and limited hot water in the older section of the house. To the host's credit, they attempted to arrange a plumber during our stay but were unable to get one there in time.Overall, we enjoyed our week and appreciated the home's character and location. Guests looking for a rustic cottage experience may find it a good fit, while those seeking modern comforts should be aware of the home's age-related limitations.
