Take a step back in time at this unique and tranquil getaway. Originally built in the late 1800's and nestled in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina. The Vicar House offers 1bedroom with a trundle day bed, an upstairs loft bedroom with a king size bed, updated bathroom, and full kitchen accommodations. Enjoy your time lounging on the back deck, roasting marshmallows in your firepit, rocking on the front porch, or dipping your toes in our refreshing Watauga River frontage! You are sure to relax in the quite country atmosphere!
Don't forget to enjoy the surrounding area attractions like the Valle Crucis Park and historical Mast General Store. Take a scenic drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway or visit nearby Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk where shopping, seasonal skiing, and fantastic restaurants are always at your fingertips.

This cabin was so incredibly clean and well maintained. Literally has everything you need for a stay. So much to do around the area and the deer that come through the yard randomly are so beautiful to watch. It will definitely be a place we come back to.

We had a wonderful stay! Very clean and well equipped. If you are looking for a place to stay that is not far from Boone and other towns, yet offers a little more peace and quiet, this is the place for you. The cabin is even more beautiful in person than in pictures. And the host is very friendly and excellent with communication!

Beautiful home. I felt like I was staying at my grandma’s house. I would recommend turning on heat on super cold days before guests arrive. While I understand the house is old, it was extremely cold inside and took a long time to warm up (it was 30 degrees outside when we arrived). It was nice to see all the historic items. My fiance feel in love and didn’t want to leave. Hoping for a longer visit next time.

we had the best time, four girls in need of a break from the everyday. house was very clean. everything was very nice! cooked mainly at the house. driveway is scary especially when other cars are coming in or leaving. all that being said this place is so very nice will definitely book again!!!

The cabin was beautiful and good size rooms. Everything you could need is there. Very close to Boone and dining. We loved it.

Had a great experience, and yes the cabin was absolutely amazing. My wife and I were both very impressed with the cabin and it being so quiet and peaceful! Would recommend it to anyone.

Nice rustic place; zero cell service

Overall, this is a nice rustic cabin, but in a fairly remote location. One major issue is that there is zero cell phone service out there. Neither my wife or I could get a call or text out unless you drove 10 minutes away from the property. That becomes an issue if you need to communicate with family, friends or business and you did not know that going out there - even bigger issue if you have an emergency or you wish to speak with the host about something. Emailed the host on the portal about this as well as a few house suggestions but never heard anything back. Lastly, not exactly as close to the river as you might think from description.

I rated this cabin four stars due to the lack of air conditioning, which was mentioned in its rustic description. However, I genuinely enjoyed my stay. The cabin is lovely and located in a great area near attractions and restaurants. It's worth noting that this cabin may be more suitable for visits in the fall and winter when it is cooler. I plan to return during that time in the future.

Very Disappointed

We were so excited about staying here. We walked into the cabin and were overwhelmed with the strongest perfumy smell. My wife could not breathe as she is sensitive to smells due to a lung condition. And it was very hard for me to stand too. Several plug-ins were the culprit. We tried to aired things out but ended up not being able to stay. The owner would not give us a refund. Customer Service was very disappointing. We could not have known my wife would have a breathing reaction to the smell. That's no one's fault, but good customer service would have given us a refund. If you stay here, I hope you have NO issues because the owner is not likely to be very helpful.

Quaint Cabin in the Woods

The cabin was rustic, but with all the modern conveniences. Kitchen was nicely stocked with everything you could need. We especially enjoyed watching the deer in our yard, and the raccoons on the roof at night! A very charming, cozy cabin. We will definitely be returning.

I’m originally from FL. I’ve been bringing my children up here for 35 years. I got custody of my granddaughter and decided to permanently relocate. I like being a host so that other people can see what I fell in love with up here that made me move. We recently had a hurricane come through here so things aren’t quite back to normal but enough so that we could get back up and running.. (or should I say strolling. )
