Nestled in the very quiet Neighborhood of Kernville California, this home is minutes away from Kernville town center, minutes from the river, and a short drive to the lake. The propane fireplace will keep you toasty, while the mountain views will take your breath away.

It was an amazing stay. Everything was clean and it was a really short distance to the river and village. Definitely coming back for more trips. Oh yeah the wild life really makes it a great get away from the city

Just got back from our weekend in Kernville and we super happy with the house we rented it is very peaceful and nice neighborhood with hiking trails all around us. The house was very clean and fully stocked with everything we needed. Large home with lots of space! Great for families with kids.

Fabulous Kern Getaway

We had a great time staying here. It slept five adults very comfortably with so much room inside for us to hang out. The pictures really do not do this place justice.

Kernville fun!

We had a great time in Kernville. Excellent house we stayed in, couldn't have been nicer! Clen, updated, fully furnished, very refreshing....and great location and view of the mountains. Terrific meals at Ewings, KRBC, El Rio and Cheryl's! Tried fishing, no luck, but still fun. We'll be back and hopefully the property will be available for us!Kent

Summer Getaway

The house was very clean, it also had everything we needed and more, the wrap around balcony with BBQ was great & the teens really enjoyed the game room. Close to Kern River and Lake Isabella. I would definitely stay here again. Great communication as well.

Incredible place to stay in Kernville

The Lazy Squirrel is the perfect place to stay in Kernville. The location is 5 mins from every restaurant and the river. The game room and wrap around porch are so cool. Nature and wildlife are all around you. We woke up to deer, quail, squirrels, and bluebirds with our coffee every morning.

Great Place with a nice view and convenient location

Very clean and well maintained home. Loved the deck and the view. Nice family room for relaxing after some hikes and solid kitchen and dining area to enjoy a meal with the family. Comfortable beds and linens. Thanks for a nice stay in Kernville, i onky wish it had been longer

Looking to purchase property

We were there on the 4th of July looking to purchase property in the area. The house was very comfortable and we enjoyed sitting outside in the evenings. It is close to town and shopping. Very well maintained and clean.

Quiet and peaceful stay

Great hostess, easy to reach and prompt to respond. The house is very comfortable and the A/C was a lifesaver! The only complaint is that although the listing description and check in/out instructions mentioned a laundry room when in fact none exists.

Wonderful Stay

We planned to do river rafting but they would not do it for 3 people and no other guest around this time of year. There were plenty of other activities also, like trail hikes, fishing, and just going around this really small community with their limited dining and entertainment facilities. If you plan to come here, outdoors/nature should be most of what you are hoping to do. Bring your high quality video/photo drone. I had so many excellent footages of lake isabella and kern river. Be prepare for possible power outages. It cost us about a day lost of our stay, which of course wasn’t expected and at no fault of the rental place/people. But Christine, was more than kind enough to drive about 30 minutes, although wasn’t feeling well, to come to our aide and compensated us a little bit. Hope this comment gives a little info for those considering this place. Overall experience is a positive one!

Great place horrible host

We were very excited for our stay and adventure on the rapids of the kern. We booked the location as it was near the main town. Place was nice overall except that the AC unit was not working. We had young children and it was over 80 degrees in the house. Repeatedly requested service from the host and they pretended it was working in the messages. They then had the audacity to say we were lying about the ac not working while I have video and pictures and the message log. They also indicated that they would not make any accommodations for the very uncomfortable stay. I would not recommend staying here solely on the host. We stay at many properties all over the country and I have never experienced a host trying to say that we are lying when all the evidence is clear. Book at your own risk.

Beautiful cozy mountain retreat

Beautiful, beautiful, home. Clean, neat, minimal peaceful sanctuary. The home is equipped with everything you would need. The kitchen was fully equipped with ALL of the essentials for any cook. Bedrooms were spacious, clean, cozy beds and bedding. Bathrooms were super clean and spacious. The Main bedroom and bath were both wheelchair accessible. The entire home had ramps for this purpose. What lovely and needed accomodations. There is a lively and fun game room that afforded our family many hours of fun games and we'll spent family time. Overall, I would 100% recommend this home to anyone and everyone. For all age groups and family sizes. Lovely and unforgettable stay. Thank you for the memories!
