Book the Red House for a great Vermont getaway with family, friends or solo!

This private family home in North Clarendon is nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains. It is just minutes from hiking trail heads for the Long Trail and Appalachian Trail and skiing with Killington (17 miles), Pico (12 miles) and Okemo (18 miles) short drives away. There are mountain, gravel and road biking options out the front door and a par three 9-hole golf course five minutes away. Extensive additional outdoor activities, as well as antiquing, outlet shopping and countless other things to do are available in all seasons. Please don't hesitate to ask for recommendations.

The first floor includes a spacious, well appointed kitchen (including basic pantry items) and dining area. The welcoming living room has a smart TV, lots of books, games and puzzles. There is an office/bedroom with a comfortable queen sleeper sofa, which can serve as a third bedroom or a remote work space -- or both! A full bathroom with a large capacity washer and dryer rounds out the level - making it suitable for anyone who needs single level accommodations.

The second floor has another full bathroom and two bedrooms -- one king and one queen. Linens (dish and bath towels; placemats and table cloths; sheets; pillows; blankets) are provided, as well as shampoo, dish, bath and hand soaps.

A highlight of the property in the Spring, Summer and Fall is the large covered back porch with spacious outdoor dining and seating areas, along with lighting. This is often the most used "room" during these months with its amazing views, including sunsets. There is a gas grill off the porch. A mowed walking trail around the meadow allows you to enjoy all that the Vermont warmer weather seasons have to offer without leaving the property! There is also an attached two car garage with plenty of room for cars, skis and other gear.

The Red House is one of two properties situated on a 20 acre meadow that have been in our family for three generations; owners are often at the second property. It is conveniently located a few miles from a large grocery store, restaurants and all the amenities of the Rutland area. Yet, it is set back from the road for a feeling of privacy, peacefulness and being in the country.

The Red House is gently worn and the kitchen and upstairs bathroom are original to the house. This treasured place is a family home - we ask you to treat it like your own. We are sure you will enjoy the Red House as much as we do for a memorable getaway - book today!

This is a wonderful and comfortable home situated in a beautiful location. The view from the back porch is outstanding. The host, Kristina, was a superb communicator, right from the first question we asked when considering the rental all the way through our visit. Things could not have gone more smoothly. The Red House was a wonderful, peaceful place to stay. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything from pans to utensils to spices. The yard was well manicured with beautiful landscape and the porch had a large table with chairs and an extra seating area with nice patio furniture. Everything was clean and lovely. We would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic stay!

Owners provided very helpful information close to the check in and communication was easy. We appreciated so many things about the accommodations- plowed driveway close to a main road for our minivan, 30 min easy drive to Okemo for multiple days of skiing, use of a garage for ski gear and van, well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and pull out sofa, plenty of blankets and towels, washer and dryer, and a great area to lounge for our family. One helpful tip at night is that the house is on the opposite side of the street from the mailbox. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend staying here! We are planning to go back!

Amazing "red house" back porch is so relaxing

Property description is spot on. Everything was perfect, very clean, paper products ect provided. Back porch is great for relaxing and just looking at the mountain view, local wildlife a plus. We used the kitchen and grill Everything was provided for use. Host quick response on any questions.

Beautiful property

We had a great stay and very much enjoyed the house and property. Spent mornings on the porch watching the bluebirds fly in and out. It is a very quiet and relaxed setting, and the house was fully equipped with what we needed. It was quite hot the weekend we visited, and the air conditioners upstairs were very helpful. Great host!

Lovely home with a beautiful view.

Great for a ski get away!

Excellent house that is close to killington, pico, and okemo! The space was perfect for our group with everything we could have possibly needed. Plenty to do with books/board games and the little walking trail.

Great location near Killington Ski Base

We had a wonderful time staying at the Red House this winter break in Feb. We went skiing at Killington Ski Base and this house was perfect for our family. Clear and well maintained house with everything that a family will need for a comfortable stay. We loved the big desk and the living room is spacious. The Ski base was about 25 min drive from the house. No big deal. And, we loved parking our car inside the garage. That was helpful. The owner is super nice. Very responsive. We hope to return here in the future, when we go skiing again!

Family ski get-away

Perfect location for our family Killington ski vacation! The cottage had beautiful surroundings, was very clean and had everything we needed. Large rooms, with comfortable furniture and beds. Loved having a garage to park our cars and store our gear. A great value for us, less than 30 minutes to Killington and close to Rutland for shopping and dining.

My cousin and I needed to stay in the Rutland area for a week. The hotel selection is rather weak in that area and they certainly don't have the ease of being at home. The Red House has a fabulous back porch onto wide lawns and a sunset over the mountains. If you need a family retreat this is the place for you.

Beautiful Red House!

We had amazing time staying at Red House! Neighborhood was quiet (so you can sleep well) and it’s less than 10min drive from downtown Rutland (it made really easy to get food after skiing). Driving to Killington was very easy and less than 30min. The house was very clean and had beautiful view and stylish furnitures. We loved unique dining chairs/table they have. It’s decorated with amazing paintings and posters. Plenty of nice books to read and fun games to play. The owner was very friendly and responsive. Highly recommend staying here! We would love to come back for summer:)

Red House - great stay!

We had a great time staying at the red house. It was cozy, comfortable, clean, pretty decor, and had a good size kitchen, dining area and living room. The internet was very reliable (I had to work one day). The beds were comfy and linens all clean. We were originally looking for a house very close to the mountains but it was so last minute, and the benefit of this house is that its almost equidistant to 3 different mountains (20 to 30 min), so we took advantage of that and visited a different place each day, which we ended up preferring!! I recommend this house to anyone looking for a nice place in VT to stay at while exploring the area. Also, Kristina was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Our stay was during winter, but this place must look just as beautiful in warmer weather/spring or around fall time.

Could not have been better

This was our first visit to this area and first, stay at this home. While the pictures and description are very accurate the home was even nicer in person. Kristina was very responsive and it was a real treat to stay in their home. Part of what we enjoyed so much as it was that the home was set up so very well for our family to use. From books to games, to TV, to kitchen appliances/accessories for making food, to spices and condiments, we felt we were staying in a well-loved place. We enjoyed the benefits of that. The location was great for the skiing we did. Close to grocery stores and restaurants, and nicely located between Stratton and Killington, which is where we skied. We hope to return!
