In 2006 two of our sons went on a surfing-scouting trip to the west coast of Mexico, found their way to San Pancho, and immediately fell in love with the town and the beach. A month later we rearranged some travel plans and went to check it out for ourselves. Well, we also loved the place.
We felt welcomed to the town. The Americans and Canadians we met seemed to respect the culture and value their relationships with the residents whose families, in some cases, had lived in San Pancho for over a hundred years. It seemed that this would be an ideal place to build a home for generations of our family.
We purchased this particular property with the hope, just the hope, that we might have a pretty good view of the ocean. As the construction progressed it became clearer and clearer that we would have not only 'a pretty good view,' but SPECTACULAR VIEWS of the ocean, the beach, the town (San Pancho), Sayulita in the distance, and, equally fantastic views of the jungle....from many different locations in LA CASA. Although we originally called our home La Casa que Canta, because it seemed to sing with the profundo of the ocean surf, the rustling of the palm leaves, and the chirping of the birds, we have renamed it the VILLA DE VISTAS -- the Villa of Views.
As you will see the property presented some challenges since it goes sharply downhill, but Melissa (with partial assistance from three different architects) was able to change those challenges into opportunities, which allows us to have three separate homes in very close proximity to one another. Yet each affords privacy.
