There is nothing plumb or level in this venerable old home, and we loved that. Views from deck and pretty much every window were fabulous. We spent a lot of time on the deck and in the reading nook on the second floor. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with plenty of dishes, cutlery, pots and baking dishes. Temps were in mid-80s while we were there, but the house cooled down nicely at night. My only complaint regards the windows. Only one window in the reading nook opened, no windows in the living room opened, and the kitchen windows had no screens. Ventilation on the main level in the evenings would have been much better if we’d been able to open those windows. Otherwise, all is as described. And they’re not kidding about the one steep, narrow staircase. It’s practically vertical, but we used it daily without mishap; the other set of stairs is to code. Make sure you look at the pictures of the house in the 40s-50s before renovation. Fascinating. Also be sure to check out the Eastern Knubble trail, an easy walk from the house to the trailhead, and the Western Head preserve trail, which is only a 3-min drive from the house. Both are breathtakingly spectacular.
