I am not one of these big companies that buys up houses just to rent them out. This is my only rental property and it is the guest house. Rather than buy everything at IKEA and Amazon I spent time working with local creators and shopkeepers and picked everything out by hand. Much of what you'll find in the house was made in Vermont by local artisans. A lot of it was purchased from shop owners in VT and MA. Buying locally and sustainably is very important to me and I believe the house has a much homier feel as a result. The throw blankets are made from Vermont wool, the beds are made from Vermont wood.
The house is situated at the base of Haystack mountain which offers rich views. On our property we have incredible vegetation, including wild blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, cherries, and asparagus. We get visits from deer, birds, and other local critters. It is truly the mountain life. It's a paradise of fresh air. Pour a drink, have a fire, and you'll see what I mean!
