Here is an honest review of my stay at the Bar Harbor Downtown Suite. The positives: The property was clean, and the location was excellent. It felt very safe and was just a short walk to the restaurants/shops downtown. Onsight parking for one car is provided. The room was tidy, the bed was comfortable, and amenities such as snacks, water, coffee, a blow dryer, and a steamer were provided. The host was pleasant, responsive, and easy to communicate with. Overall, I felt comfortable staying here as a solo female traveler. The negatives: The room is located inside a business. Before my arrival, the host assured me I would not hear the activity and that the space was very private. While the room does have its own entrance, that entrance leads into the business, and the room is directly across the hall from massage and spa treatment rooms. Because the building is older, I could hear EVERYTHING, including private conversations from the owners, who live on-site. This didn't bother me personally, but it may be an issue for others. It's a bit awkward and unexpected. Also, the kitchen area and bathroom are located in the same room, which some guests may find unusual. Also, upon arrival, I was told construction would begin the following morning. Work started around 7:00 a.m. and continued throughout the remainder of my stay. All of this should be disclosed in the description/prior to arrival. TBH, there are beautiful inns in the area that charge the same price. Hope this helps.
