Disappointing Start, Redeemed by Cleaning Team — Took 5 Hours to Make Suitable for a Stay
This property was not ready to be rented. When we arrived, it was clear the home hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time — aside from fresh sheets and towels, nearly every surface was covered in dust, grime, or old residue. There was mold in the coffee maker, trash still in the upstairs bin, filthy floors, dirty pans in the kitchen, and vents and fans caked in dust. The house felt more like a lived-in bachelor pad than a professional vacation rental.We raised these concerns immediately, and while the host was responsive, it ultimately took a team of two professional cleaners five hours to get the house to a basic standard of cleanliness — two full days into our stay. That effort is appreciated, but it doesn’t erase the fact that we paid for and arrived at a home that was completely unprepared and, frankly, unhygienic.This experience fell far below VRBO’s standards and the expectations set by the listing. I would not recommend booking this property until the host ensures it’s consistently cleaned and maintained between stays. Renters deserve better than to spend the first part of their trip fighting for a livable environment.
