Ryan’s Oceanview is a real house, private, set above a small cluster of homes, four of which are occupied. It is well built and equipped, comfortably furnished, and the wind on the porch keeps the no see ums away. After a hard day of reading/writing/ thinking/eating/napping/talking/walking, it is soothing to sit in the hot tub and admire the views – the breaking waves, the sailboats, the fishing boats, the distant late afternoon rainbows, and the no people. The very walkable beach is a couple of minutes away. It’s an easy 20 minutes stroll to a fine swimming cove at the south end. After a while, our six weeks became organized around the tide table -- a nice rhythm to live by.
When you go to the shops and restaurants in Clarence Town (10 minutes), Petty’s, Mangrove Bush, Deadman’s Cay (25 minutes) and beyond, you will appreciate the warmth of the Long Islanders you will meet. This isn’t a resort so there will be occasional glitches (power, internet). Rest assured that Bill/Patrice/Paul/Ingrid/BTC/BEC are always available.
So relax and let the rhythm of island life seduce you. It did us.
