Twin Cedars Cabin in the Woods! Birders paradise near Sipsey and Bankhead

Enjoy the rocking chair porch in the foothills of the Warrior Mountains with a treehouse view of bird habitat in every direction. Private ... no other houses in sight.

Hand built construction by Mark who felled each tree from our own land and built this cabin literally with his own two hands. The wrap around deck we call "Sally's Deck". Hurricane Sally provided the wood when she deposited a pile of docks on our Ft Morgan property. The natural wood interior is lovely!

This cabin is a piece of heaven tucked into the incredible woods of Alabama. The closeness with nature and the warmth of the cabin will make any stay here memorable. Maggie and Mark are generous hosts and are always available to make your stay perfect

Excellent communication with the host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I was very impressed with how well the cabin was stocked with anything you may need. We found that the WiFi was excellent! Our cell phones worked just fine on wifi calling no problems at all. Would recommend this cabin and would stay here again.

We all so loved the cabin in the woods. Cozy and comfortable. The location is very quiet and peaceful, but still convenient to town. Liked check-in, cleanliness , loved the decorations. Enjoyed sitting on the deck and swinging on porch swing. Wonderful host.

The host were very nice, communication was very clear. We where in a storm where we would loose power. They brought extra blankets and some soup. Mark.and Maggie are great people to rent from. Would definitely rent it again

As others have said, a top notch experience. The deck and view is amazing. A more than serviceable kitchen to cook and entertain for multiple guests. Well lit and comfortable. WiFi worked well with plenty of other entertainment including records and books to keep you entertained after a long day at Bankhead National Forest!Would love to come back, thanks Mark and Maggie!

Wonderful home tucked away

We had a great stay! The house was very comfy and was perfect for us. We had to go back and forth to Jasper so location was great. We loved sitting out on the back porch. It’s a lovely home.

This was our second stay at Twin Cedars Cabin, and it was just as wonderful as the first. The hand-built cabin has such a unique charm, with its beautiful wood interior and the story behind its construction. We loved spending quiet mornings on the rocking-chair porch, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the forest, and evenings under the starry sky were unforgettable. The wrap-around deck is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and privacy of the setting. A truly special place that feels both cozy and connected to nature — we look forward to returning again!

Excellent location just outside of Jasper. Very quiet and off the main road. Enjoyed rain on the metal roof and wrap around porch! Excellent place to get away and unwind.

Amazing

Great Stay & Cozy Cabin

The house is nestled back in the wood for a perfect feeling of seclusion while still being conveniently located to amenities around. The cabin was very clean and organized and offered almost any amenity you could really need. The wrap around porch was a great spot for hanging out with friends and perfect place to slowly wake up on the swing in the morning time. Host was very nice and communication was amazing! Would 100% stay again. If you are looking at this property for your next trip don’t hesitate to book.

We really enjoyed our time here and just wished we had more time! The cabin itself was really unique and we had a lot of fun exploring outside. My 6 yr old's imagination ran absolutely wild, it was a great time!

Mark and Maggie Johnston live just about 5 miles away in a house that Mark also built. Mark was the ED of Camp McDowell for 27 years and helped it to grow and prosper. Maggie was Director of the McDowell Environmental Center and helped to start the McDowell Farm School and Magnolia Nature School. They love sharing beautiful places with new friends and old friends!
