The mountain world of the Eisenerzer Alps with the largest open-cast iron ore mine in Central Europe also offers impressive insights into the mining historical past and a wealth of possibilities in the midst of tremendous natural scenery. Nearby is the "Wilde Berg Mautern - Wildlife Park" and the "Gesäuse - Wild Water and Steep Rock" National Park is easily accessible by car via the Präbichl and is a great starting point for wonderful mountain tours and hikes.
