Disappointing and unprofessional
We arrived at this property, settled in, and contacted the host about the schedule for construction going on in other units over the weekend. Shortly, we received a phone call from the property manager (not the host) asking if we would like to move (3 miles away) given that construction would be going on during our whole stay. Having chosen the property for its location (and not having a car), we thanked him and declined the offer.
Soon after that, we received a call from the host who was shared that we were going to have to move since the construction would be moving to our unit the next day. We had heard nothing about this in advance, and the host seemed very surprised that we were there. Having no choice, we packed up and moved, and the host was kind enough to provide an Uber ride to the new property.
That property was more spacious and nicely appointed, but it meant that we had to spend an extra $75 to get ourselves back and forth from the experiences that we were interested in. The property manager was not willing to cover that extra cost, and did not offer any discount or reimbursement for the inconvenience or the failure to let us know that our original rental was no longer available.
The property was marked as unavailable by the end of our stay, but we noticed other reviews that had been added since we made the reservation, and they would have made a difference in our decision. They were certainly on the mark regarding the manager, though the host was helpful.
