The positives of this cottage are-the setting. It would be hard to find a more beautiful outdoor setting than the one this property offers. It's truly stunning from the campfires on the beach to the easy water access to the views. Other positive-the owner. Beth was helpful and present any time we contacted her. She wanted things to be perfect for us and was friendly and amenable. The decks-there are decks on every floor of this cottage AND a great screened in porch for eating. Loved those features. However, the negatives are that this cottage needs some BIG TIME UPDATING! As rental property owners ourselves, we know people can do damage. But there were just too many things that needed to be cleaned and updated from the furniture to the bathrooms and kitchen (poor drainage in downstairs bathroom, flickering lights in upstairs bathroom, light bulbs out all over the place, need new shower curtain liners, etc.) I could go on. Second negative-the downstairs rooms which are a bathroom and two bedrooms, were very musty smelling. Some in our group with allergies could not go down there. The basement mustiness made it impossible to use (so if you have an exceptionally large group and plan on using it for sleeping, you may want to reconsider). While we spent most of our time outside or on the decks, the inside, even for a 'cottage' needs some big time updating-many of the things being very simple to take care of. It has a feeling of benign neglect. Our family had a terrific time at this chalet. We even brought our boat and docked it to the pier. We would have loved to rent again but the consensus of our group was the inside just didn't work for us. Fresh paint, updated lighting, new plumbing accessories, etc.nps we rent a place every summer and like to go to the same place if it works out.
