Winter at The Golden Kettle Cottage is all about slowing down, warming up, and enjoying peaceful lake views without the crowds. Tucked away on nearly two wooded acres, this cozy lake retreat offers quiet mornings, crisp air, and stunning winter views of the water through bare branches. The Golden Kettle Cottage is best known for remembering the "little things" that make a stay extra special.

Start your day with coffee or tea from our full-size duo coffee maker, then curl up by the chimenea (or electric fireplace) with a blanket and watch the lake wake up. The spacious deck is perfect for bundled-up mornings or sunset watching, and winter often brings the clearest views across the water.

Inside, the open living space is designed for comfort. Sink into cozy seating, stream your favorite shows on the 55” smart TV, or enjoy a relaxed game night with family and friends. The fully equipped kitchen makes winter meals easy, whether you’re cooking a holiday dinner or warming up with soup and cocoa.

The cottage comfortably sleeps six to eight guests:

Master Bedroom: Plush queen bed, queen sleeper sofa, Pack-N-Play, and smart TV

Meadow Room: Queen daybed with queen trundle and a cozy egg chair—perfect for reading on quiet afternoons

Need to work remotely? A dedicated desk with a lake view, printer, keyboard, and high-speed Wi-Fi makes it easy to stay connected. A washer and dryer are also available for your convenience.

Evenings are made for gathering around the firepit or chiminea—bundle up, roast marshmallows, and enjoy the stillness of winter nights under the stars. Wildlife sightings are common year-round, with deer and birds frequently passing through the property.

Lake access is just ½ mile down the road, and while kayaking may be seasonal, winter walks along the water and peaceful sunset views are not to be missed. Boat ramps are nearby for those bringing a boat during milder winter days.

Peace and Quiet

We wanted a getaway that was peaceful and quiet and we couldn’t have asked for a better place. The owners thought of everything from spices to coffee to pots and pans to soap to cozy blankets. We will definitely be back!

The host provides good communication and was quick to respond to any messages. Great location. The house was clean and comfortable. We were at the lake for a BASS tournament and will look to see if this place is available the next time we are in town.

Enjoyed our stay

The property was very clean and was well stocked with spices, coffee and tea. The owners have thought of all that we could possibly need. Our fur boys enjoyed it too. The loved seeing all the deer come in to the yard. The fire pit was nice. It was a very remote area, so if you need to shop for anything, it is a 30 minute drive to town. We enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you for everything.

Our Golden Kettle Cottage Stay

Wow, This is one of the nicest Lake-house VRBOs that we have stayed in. An exceptionally well stocked kitchen which included cooking oil, spices, coffee and coffee filters and a filtered water pitcher provided for our use. Sara has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and convenient. The house was very clean and the deck had plenty of seating. The listing was very accurate So there were no surprises. The house is very private and in a rural area so not close to shopping but we prepared for that. We would definitely consider a second stay.

Short Labor Day Weekend

We had a short weekend with all three of our grown kids. This house was perfect. The hosts thought of EVERYTHING! It was pet friendly and she even had a kennel in the laundry room! I've never seen this before. Our biggest surprise was the water filter pitcher in the fridge bc we forgot to bring water bottles. The house is remote, so there's no running to the convenience store. We sat out on the front deck for coffee each morning. The house was emaculate with plenty of bedding (and then some)! We've stayed at a lot of vrbo's for travel softball, but we've never had such a stocked kitchen before with kcups, spices, olive oil, etc. She provided two kayaks, but we just stuck with our paddle boards. We had a great time and would most definately return.

The property and the owners exceeded my expectations based on the property listing. In addition to the property have a beautiful view, the owners thought of everything to accommodate guests. The house was well stocked with everything you would need for indoors and outdoors!!

I loved the place very nice and quiet… unfortunately I did have a problem with bugs … I’m not one to kill just everything I see but I killed 3 roaches, a mole cricket that was on the bed and I let the spiders go… I understand it’s a country setting but not about some bugs on the counters..,

The home was very inviting and so cozy. There was everything we needed and a perfect environment to read, relax and enjoy the sunsets. The walk to the water was also nice and not too far. Overall a wonderful trip.

Sara, was an excellent host, great communication to make sure we had everything we needed. The place was exactly as listed. Lots of space to spread out. It was a great Fall view from the front yard. Lake access is a little ways down the road. We really enjoyed our stay!

Perfection! Finally got to get away with my friend and this was an excellent choice. The home is lovely and inviting and had everything we could possibly want in a vacation rental. There was no need to contact Sara for anything, but she did check-in with us throughout our stay.
