Cozy Wooded barndominium near Chapel Hill

Enjoy the secluded and wooded area in our lofted barn on four acres. You can relax with the whole family at this peaceful get-away while only 15 minutes from UNC campus and 15 minutes from downtown Pittsboro.

The outdoor firepit and large patio are perfect for resting or entertaining as you enjoy the outdoors. There is also a headed outdoor dining area. The home is on the Bynam Loop Bike trail and is only 3 mins from a Kayaking put-in on the Haw River.

This is a large wooden pole barn with more than half converted to a cozy living space. The bedrooms are about 12x12 and there is a loft over the living area with a bed and sofa sleeper.

Retro Video game system with 1000+ games from Nintendo, Super Nintendo and similar added to mobile TV in the barn!

Available for event space use for $150 Additionally!

Guests can have access to all 4 wooded acres, including a walking path to an intermittent stream.

We live less than 30 minutes away and can be helpful when needed.

Quiet, rural road. Great for road biking and on a road biking trail. 3mins from Haw River (and kayak put-in).

Fantastic spot

This was a fantastic spot to stay for the weekend. We hosted our engagement party on the property and it was such a success. The rec room area is very unique and the outside space gives guests a lot of places to spend time. It was nice to feel like we were in the woods despite being inside, with all the trees! I recommend bringing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper because it’s a semi-open floor plan :)

Bachelorette getaway

We had a wonderful time here! A small group of ladies for a bachelorette party. We stayed in one night and enjoyed the amenities and the next night we went into chapel hill. Everything was so cute and the property was beautiful.

The Mended Wood

This is the perfect spot for a family to gather. Enough room and enough fun things to keep everyone entertained. One feels like they have their own private cabin in the woods yet you are minutes away from everything Chapel Hill and Durham have to offer!

Plenty of room to hang out!

We were in NC for my son’s wedding. We rented 2 houses close together. This property provided great spaces to hang out… inside and out! It was perfect.

Cozy and Charming

The Mended Woods was the perfect respite for our family getaway. The hospitality of the King family filled this home. We loved having nature all around us, plenty of activities for family fun, and a beautiful, welcoming space indoors for rest.

Great place for family gathering

The place was perfect for a small graduation gathering! It's not too far from Chapel Hill and there were lots of space for people to gather in different areas. We loved the outdoor seating and fire pits! Amy answered all my questions and was very accommodating too!

Absolutely perfect for us. The layout was great, the playroom for our kids was great. From the candles, to the bedding to the bath....all around amazing. Beautiful views too. Just lovely.

Spacious & welcoming

Amy & Stephen's place was fantastic! We were traveling to the area for a wedding and the barndominium was a great accommodation for my family and my sister's family. I love how large and open The Mended Wood House feels - with 7 of us there, we never felt squished - with the high ceilings and open floor plan, it is great for families. Amy was very responsive to all of my questions before we arrived and was helpful in letting us check-in early so we were able to get ready for the wedding rehearsal. The beds were comfortable and clean with plenty of pillows, the kitchen is well-stocked with all you could need (and more), the game room was a hit with the teens and husbands, and the outdoors spaces are so welcoming. It's clear Amy and Stephen took a lot of care to ensure a wonderful experience at The Mended Wood House. Highly recommend staying here and hope we'll find a reason to stay there again!

Rustic, cozy charm.

The wooded setting is peaceful and secluded, yet convenient to area towns. The homeowners have highlighted the property by making the outdoor area most welcoming and conducive to social gatherings, including the festive light strings. The home is clean, comfortable, well decorated (with not too many dust catchers!) and the kitchen is especially well planned and stocked. You can’t help shoot some hoops or play air hockey and foosball in the play area. Although there is only one bathroom, it is cute and was more than adequate for our stay . The hosts responded to questions quickly and helpfully. All in all, we had a great experience and we plan to stay here again on our next trip to visit family!
