Hideaway Cove: 2 Lakefront Homes on Beach

2 Lakefront Homes on Beautiful Sandy Beach w/a 15 ft Swim Spa that overlooks the Lake. The main house has 2 bdrms& a sofa in the living room. The Upstairs is a huge bunk room w/4 sets of bunk beds w/an additional twin bed. The main house sleeps 11 comfortably. The cottage (directly behind the main home) has 2 bdrms & a futon sofa & sleeps 8 comfortably. The cottage is a fully equipped w/its own kitchen with an eating area, living room, & full bath.
*Washer & dryer closed during winter months

Dogs are welcome with an arrangement upon booking! They must stay off of the furniture, on a leash when outside, feces picked up and treated for the prevention of fleas and ticks. You must request permission BEFORE making your reservation to bring your dog(s). Please sweep up/vacuum dog hair and dispose of prior to your departure. There is an additional fee to bring your dog(s).

-In addition to the main home, there's a second home located just behind it.

- The main home has central air and the cottage has a portable air unit.
HOUSE RULES:

- No more than 5 cars on site
- Do NOT park on road or in neighbors' way!
- All furniture must be put back where it is found!
- No Shoes on while inside the home
- Quiet hours are from 11 PM to 8 AM
- Dog(s) must stay off of the furniture, on a leash when outside, feces picked up and treated for the prevention of fleas and ticks. Please sweep up/vacuum dog hair and dispose of prior to your departure. There is an additional fee to bring your dog(s).
- Please respect our neighbors by not having loud music or by yelling and using profanity (many are permanent residents!)
- Garbage must be bagged up, put into trash bins at the end of the drive way at departure.
- You must be 25 or older to rent this cottage
- Please note: RVs, tents, and campers are not permitted at our homes. Failure to comply will result in applicable fees.

Great place.

The houses were amazing and the view in the morning watching the sunrise is so nice. It is a great spot to be. The hot tub was a bit dirty but it was still nice to be in. The houses were very clean and everything was ready for us when we got there which was nice

Review of Hideaway Cove

Overall we enjoyed our stay. We did notice neither of the TVs worked in the second house. We also would have liked a dryer to dry our towels. We used the hot tub everyday. With the temps being on the colder side our towels were never really dry. I also recommend getting kitchen towels and offering more toilet paper.

Lakeside Gem

We were fortunate enough to reserve this property at the last minute for Thanksgiving. The host, Frank, was amazing in accommodating us and in his communication. The property is everything as described - super clean and cozy. Take advantage of the sunrises on the patio or on the beach…you won’t be disappointed. And, dip in the hot tub especially if staying during the colder months. Thank you for an amazing experience - hope to stay again soon!

excellent location and beautiful beach

This was a perfect location for our stay--an "up north" style sandy beach very convenient to the metro detroit area. Between the main house and the cottage the property has beds for two families, each with a main floor master and upstairs space that works well for kids (nine bunks upstairs in the main and two doubles upstairs in the cottage) but the upstairs space isn't really adult friendly. For more than two families, neighboring properties on both sides are also available for rental. Lots of space to gather for meals indoors and out. We didn't use the hot tub because we were always on the beach, but it's in a nice spot with a beautiful view. Plenty of chairs and kayaks down at the beach; we added our own umbrella and canopy for a perfect setup.

family Christmas in July

We take our kids, spouses and grands and great grand to Michigan for adults Christmas and birthdays. We prefer one large house but the two houses worked out. Beautiful beach! We spend day on beach. Need to be in shape to go down and up 47 steps! Gorgeous sunrises and this year an amazing Buck Moon coming out of the water! Swimspa was a plus, but had a few issues with water temp heater not working efficiently.

Fantastic location, property, and host

Despite a last minute change on my part, the host was able to accommodate myself and guests with ease despite the short notice. All of my guests were incredibly happy with the location directly on the lake, the direct beach access, and the lake house with numerous amenities. Everything on the property was in working order and functioned perfectly for our weekend. The host checked in to make sure everything was as expected and made herself available to us doing our stay in case we ran into any issues. One change from the pictures is that there is now one single firepit on the beach slightly smaller than the large one pictures, but it is mobile so you can place it where you’d like. WiFi worked perfectly for all of us and there was a newer grill as well. Highly recommend!

We were not disappointed!

We had a group of 14 family/friends and we could of easily had more. We were comfortable and the place was nice and clean. The view of the water and the hot tub made it even better. We had a great time and experience and we would definitely like to come back! :)

Pictures do not do it justice… excellent.

The main house is much bigger than it seems online… well stocked kitchen (coffee/blender/pots and pans/knives/seasonings and such) central air was nice and cold… spacious & plenty of windows! Now, the guest house is surprisingly roomy and also air conditioned… very nice addition to the rental. NOW… lets talk view/beach and more: The view is OUTSTANDING… sandy beach, excellent for swimming, and shallow for quite a ways. The hot tub is massive and faces the water, great way to relax & soak in the view. Fire pit on the beach also makes a great time. Gas grill is new and worked great for several cook outs. Honestly, this place exceeded my expectations immensely and the host was fantastic, very responsive. I will most certainly be back many times.

very disappointed

Let me begin with the positive, the lakefront was great. There is ample beach front with soft sand that is not overly rocky. The water is clear and shallow for many feet which is great for little kids. However, everything else needs serious improvement. When we arrived the kids immediately ran to check out the water and within minutes one was stung by a bee. Turns out there was a softball size hive on the deck. When I contacted the property manager about this she acknowledged knowing about the bees but didnt think they would be a problem. She was empathetic but was out of town so we were on our own as far as taking care of the bees for that day. She did come out the next day to remedy the situation. Let me point out that you could not be on deck or get to the lake without walking by this beehive. When all was said and done 2 kids and 1 adult had been stung. We a truly blessed that no one had a severe reaction. There was overgrown vegetation all over including the steps to get to lake(later trimmed). The main house itself felt unclean with lots of dust, cobwebs(inside), dirty windows and overall grime. The kitchen was the worst, ceiling fan disgusting. The refrigerator did not cool well and the icemaker/waterdispenser did not work. Bathrooms were clean. Towels and linens are provided but they are mostly poor quality, old and dingy. A lot of the beds are in bad shape just old and lumpy. The futon in the cottage house is terrible. The WiFi was a big problem, it worked at the main house when we arrived but then not at all for 3 days. Meaning we had zero communication including emergency services because cell signal does not reach house and no landline. We finally got service after a tech came out and was there for 3 hours working on it. The cottage house however had zero service the entire time which means no phone, no internet, and no TV. On day 3 the toilet in the outdoor bathhouse structure clogged and backed up with sewage water coming up thru shower. A plumber did come out that night but he was unable to fix the toilet. Next day after area was cleaned we had use of shower only and the laundry area(thank goodness). The AC works great on main floor but barely reaches 2nd floor in both houses. The grill is mostly rusted out, too old and ignitor does not work. This property was recently acquired by new owner and I am hoping that they will take the necessary steps to make improvement to truly bring this rental to a 5 star rating.

Hidden Gem

Hideaway cove exceeded expectations. I was able to reign in 30 with many of my friends at this extremely accommodating stay. Michelle was a delightful host who added to the magic of the weekend. Highly recommend this property. The neighbors are also very nice!

Great family get away home

Great homes (main house and cottage), water views are breathtaking. Plenty of room for groups hanging out , except one “bedroom” is actually a shared space living room and the bed is a broken down futon. Besides that ,it was a great place I’d recommend .

Ohhhh the lake!!

Great stay! The property itself was VERY friendly for our group f 14 and we took advantage of all seating areas .. Some places on the property feel very private which is great. The hottub is HUGE and the kids LOVED it but it is not private. The beach is actually really nice and semiprivate too, with neighbors possible but shrubs that distinguish space and provide buffer. About the beach....wow!! There is a huge sand bar in front of this strip and you can see clearly that walking out for hundreds of yards is possible. But some parts still get maybe 4- 4.5 deep so it is a perfect balance. This could change - the water changed pace a lot in our time there from still to very wavy. There are 46-48 stairs but they are concrete and small in depth so not bad at all, especially with the stairs starting steps from the house. We did bring our own folding chairs and used some from the AMPLE deck supply for enough seating, but we did not have anything to provide shade outside of one umbrella provided so something to consider. The houses are humble but cozy.. The two upstairs rooms get hot in the days but cool nicely at night - pack an extra fan if you can. Lots of cheap towels and generally, the best stocked home I have ever stayed in!! Having two fridges b/n both homes is really nice, too! And the main home has three very convenient entry points which just made it feel easy. Since this is a dog-friendly home, a couple of things to know....the property is fenced about 90%. Dogs can't get easily to the road (phew) but little dogs could sneak under the front gate. Eager pups can easily navigate around the neighbors fence which was hard to avoid given they had barking dogs. They weren't super happy about our puppy visiting so we eventually rigged something to elongate the fence so she couldn't as easily head over. There is also no gate at the top of the beach stairs so if your pup roams, thy could head about 10 houses worth of beach away but luckily, they stay in sight the whole time from the property's stairs and beach. We brought a long line and tethered her up when on the beach to allow her to play in the water but not run freely. This worked well. There is also a gate on the deck so another good spot to allow pups inside and outside access without worry of them taking off. We loved it here. High ranking in my vaca list!! The beach rivaled Cancun and really, I just felt so relaxed the whole time. Thanks for the stay!

Gorgeous views!

We loved our stay here! You can’t beat the views of Lake Huron and a very sandy beach that was amazing to swim in. Oh, and that hottub was to die for!

We had the perfect time at this property! The best coronacation we could ask for

Perfect for 12 adults, young adults and teens (would have easily fit another few of us). It was so nice to have everything we needed right there and not have to go anywhere! Michelle was a great host and super responsive. A+++

Gorgeous beach setting!

What a wonderful vacation for our family and first grandchild! The views were breathtaking and the weather could not have been better. Having the two homes were perfect for our adult children/baby. Plenty of space inside and out to relax. It was nice to have a large variety of outdoor activities, not needing to bring our own. Made many new family memories! Nice relaxing stay on the Lake Huron coast

We had a really nice relaxing stay at Hideaway Cove. Plenty of space for all of us (group of 13), cooked together, beached it together, sat around the bonfire together. Inside, plenty of space for eating together, and not cramped for sleeping space. We used both the main house and the cottage on site...having two areas for people worked nicely for us. Bathrooms are recently renovated, nice and clean, good hot shower. Hot tub/swim spa was very popular ;). All very good amenities. The view of sunrises was excellent every day we were there. We were able to put our jet ski in the lake at the Port Sanilac harbor, and it was a 5 minute jet from there to the beach at the Hideaway. This year the water was very high, so the beach wasn't expansive, but definitely enough room for us to hangout, swim, ski, kayak, and enjoy the lake. Lots of stairs down the embankment, but always worth the trip. The hosts provide several kayaks/paddle board, so no need to bring a lot of equipment. All in all, a really good stay.

Family Beach Trip

Thank you so much to Michelle for working with us to find this wonderful home. Our family had a great time on the property. We enjoyed the beach as well as the hot tub. There were many amenities that our two children enjoyed, especially the kayaks! Thank you so much for a wonderful trip!

Perfect weekend!

This place was perfect for our annual girls weekend getaway. It's fully stocked with everything you could need, has plenty of space and was very clean. The views from the deck and the hot tub are unbelievable! Michelle was so accommodating and very easy to communicate with if we had any questions. This was our 14th annual girls weekend and it may have been the best one yet!

A perfect proposal

Michelle was the most helpful host! She made sure we had everything we needed. This was perfect for any size gathering. The views were breathtaking, which we took advantage of. The deck made for the perfect backdrop for my proposal. My girlfriend and I had been dating for 10 years, as we began when we were 15. Our closest friends were dressed up taking pictures before we went to dinner, and by surprise both of our families came walking up. It took a second for her to realize but when she did her emotions took over. I couldn’t have dreamed of anything better. The pictures turned out amazing! Just wanted to share an unforgettable memory from this place. Thank you Michelle and Damian for allowing it to happen!
