Great stay at Casalegre

The house and property were beautiful, just as advertised. We enjoyed a great weekend hiking in the area, having some great meals, and spending time hanging out by the firepit. Communication from the host was great and everything was as easy as could be. Thank you so much!

Lovely, comfortable, easily accommodating

We loved our experience in this relaxed, well appointed Litchfield home. Not too rustic, not too “precious,” just right. Workable kitchen, several sitting areas, some hidden gems (see the screened in dining alcove off the yard). The grounds are beautiful. Close to everything.

Spacious rooms to socialize

Some of our group gathered around the television to watch football. The rest of us sat in the other half of the living room to read or chat. Yet, each group good see and speak to each other. We loved the library and played trivia there. The kitchen is well stocked, we made a beautiful dinner. The home and property were perfect for our holiday get together.

Comfortable, Cozy, and Eclectic Retreat

We had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the natural beauty surrounding the house. The house itself is spacious yet cozy, filled with intriguing objects d'arte. Was happy to see that folks in the area are taking reasonable precautions (masks, distancing) in terms of COVID. Plenty of restaurants offer to-go options, and the house's kitchen is very well stocked for cooking. Would be happy to view the fall colors, as it must be spectacular. Thanks very much!

Weekend in Litchfield

We took the family over to Litchfield for the weekend for a change of scenery. We enjoyed hanging out in the spacious, cleverly decorated house. We played games, ordered in food from the great nearby restaurants and went for a lovely walk at the nearby White Memorial Conservation Center. We would love to go back in the warm weather months to enjoy some of the property's outside features. Pablo was great to work with. He made sure we had everything we needed and has stocked the house with great art, books, and movies for his guests' enjoyment. Highly recommend.

Beyond our Wildest Dreams!

Pablo's house exceeded all our wildest expectations. The house was perfect for us...gracious, charming, comfortable! Because of Pablo's artistic/aesthetic sense, the house was almost a feast for the eyes, without being showy or intimidating. It was perfect for our family, myself, my husband, our son and his girlfriend and my cousin and his wife...and off and in a couple of friends, lucky enough to come visit us. The setting helped us all relax and enjoy being together, whether we were taking walks on the beautiful property, or the lovely countryside, watching movies, listening to music, having wonderful cookouts on the refreshingly old fashioned grill, or poking around the charming nearby towns. Only one possible suggestion and this I say with some hesitation, would be the addition of wifi. For those of us who needed to do a little work, it made this a bit challenging...not impossible but a little challenging. One other tiny thing is that some kind of work surface, ie a desk in one of the bedrooms would be helpful, again, for those unfortunate souls who can't tear themselves completely away from work! Otherwise, I can't think of a thing I would change and we are all most appreciative to Pablo for sharing his beautif house with us...and can't wait to go back!!!!

A beautiful home away from home. So serene which was exactly what we were looking for and the house was so creatively decorated with a mix of artwork to artifacts. Pablo was also great to work with and even checked to make sure we had all we needed on the day of our arrival.

Loved our stay at this lovely home full of soul

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Casalegre. Pablo was the utmost host and so warm and welcoming, particularly as we arrived on a day of a snowstorm. What made Casalegre so special among the numerous rentals we've stayed in is its worldly charm and happy energy. The home felt like a home pulsing with an artistic sensibility and an engagement with not just the fine arts but also with the beauty of creating art from ordinary objects, both of the natural and man-made world. In terms of kitchenware and accessories, we had everything we needed in the kitchen to make meals at home. The home was very clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully organized. We loved that it was filled with plants and comfortable sofas that were perfect for curling up on with a good book or magazine. We also loved the sun-drenched library. Thank you, Pablo, for welcoming us in Casalegre! It was the perfect stay.

Perfect MLK weekend

Our family of six just stayed at Pablo's house for MLK weekend and had a wonderful time. The house is very large and comfortable and we had plenty of space. The kitchen/dining room area was very pleasant and perfect for our large group. The living room is huge and the library/TV room is delightful, with an amazing book and DVD collection. We didn't use the outdoor space so much as it was cold and we spent much of our time skiing but the view was beautiful and it must be a wonderful place to enjoy in warmer weather. The house is located approximately 20-25 minutes from Mohawk mountain, a small family ski resort where we had a great time. It is also minutes from gourmet food shopping and restaurants and in a perfect location. Pablo was a great, responsive host and we couldn't have had a better time.

A magical place - highly recommended!

We are a family of 4 (two adults and two adult children) who spent a wonderful and memorable Christmas in December 2020 in this beautiful home. All the positive reviews are spot-on, as there is so much to like about this property! The overall location near Batam, in the country, is perfect. We were pleasantly surprised by the exceptionally good grocery store in Batam, which carries organic food, specialty and gourmet foods, as well as regular groceries. The range and quality of what's available there guaranties great gourmet meals if you would like to cook something for a special occasions (like Christmas!). There are also wonderful stores in the area, particularly in New Preston and Litchtfield, if you enjoy shopping. For nature lovers, the house is on a ridge, and from the road one enjoys the most amazing panoramas. The house is light-filled, with picture windows in every room, each one framing a beautiful view on to the surrounding grounds. The 7 acres surrounding the house are just beautiful, with rock features, lots of outdoor seating, and a beautiful lawn sloping down to a good-sized pond. One evening, on the way back up to the house, we were excited to see a coyote! Best of all however is the house itself, which is really unique. I picked this house because the interior decoration seemed cheerful and creative - which indeed it was! The house has a fantastic atmosphere, being formal and informal, elegant and relaxed, all at the same time! Pablo has a gift for color, with lovely paint choices on the walls, and original artwork in each room. The couches are really high-end, while other pieces of furniture add a touch of whimsy (antique store finds, hand-made or repurposed elements). For me, this Bohemian Chic really added to the celebratory atmosphere, and fun and comfort of our stay, and I found myself thinking about how to improve my own home. Pablo is REALLY talented! The house is not intimidating though by any means, and my 23 year old son had a great time just lounging on the couch thinking about video games! The WIFI (for remote working) was great, cell service totally reliable. Check-in was a breeze. Pablo was available, super-responsive, welcoming. Last but not least, the house is distinguished by an enjoyable layout, with large rooms and a great sense of spaciousness and great "flow". It's perfect for groups, as there are many places to sit in your own bubble. In short, PERFECTION!

Spacious comfortable retreat!!

We had a really wonderful 3 day stay here. The house was just as described and pictured. The house has lots of places to relax, with different nooks and spaces spread out between the dining room, living room and library. Everything was set up for our arrival, which was a piece of cake. The house was perfectly clean, and Pablo, our host, was extremely responsive to the few questions we had. The house is very conveniently located near Bantam, with a couple really good restaurants, cafes and shops very close by. Other towns in Litchfield County were all easily accessible and a short 10-20 min drive. I highly recommend this location, and would gladly return.

Just at Home

The property is absolutely beautiful with great yard. House is perfect for family with wide open social spaces with a sophisticated bohemian decoration that encourages peace and relaxation. The proprietor was very attentive to details. We enjoyed very much sitting all together outsider around a camp fire.

Being a fulltime resident of New York City, I needed a place that would offer the ideal counterbalance to the city's frenetic pace and attitude. My place is in a tranquil, safe, beautiful location where I feel that I can get away from it all; no traffic, no humming air conditioners, no sirens, no honking taxis.

The house has total privacy. It's placed in 7 very private acres on a road with almost no traffic. The only noise one hears is the chirping of birds or the crickets at sundown. Lie down on a large rock by the pond and listen to the frogs and stare at the star-studded sky, walk in the woods or on the surrounding hills and hiking trails. Its 3 minutes away from grocery stores, restaurants, charming Bantam Cinema, lakes, hiking, river-rafting, antiquing. The house has one story, simplifying mobility and adding to its free-flowing floor plan. Light and airiness abound.
