After a day on the slopes, there is nothing better than stepping into your own private hot tub or sauna while the kids take over the pool table and someone starts dinner in the fully equipped kitchen. Located just 15 minutes from Purgatory and downtown Durango, this home's location and ample amenities make both outdoor adventures and at-home relaxation possible. This 5 BR home sleeps 10 comfortably across 4 king beds and a bunk room. Sweeping mountain views give you a true Colorado experience. Bedroom 1 (main level) has an ensuite bath. Bedrooms 2 and 3 (top floor) share the Jack & Jill bathroom — Bedroom 3 has the twin-over-twin bunk (sleeps 2). Bedroom 4 (top floor) uses the hall bathroom next door. Bedroom 5 is the walkout basement bedroom; its bathroom is through the game room and it has limited closet storage.

Beautiful home stocked well and close to Durango and the mountains. Turkey greeted us every morning and evening and we had a couple of sightings of deer during our stay. The weather was very hot but the AC worked incredible and kept us Texans quite cool. Only issue we encountered were the beds. They were too hard for our comfort. Overall, we had a wonderful visit to Durango and the home was lovely.

I’m sorry the mattresses were not your preference. We spent a great deal of time selecting the best mattresses we could get an ultimately went with ones that were recommended as the most positively reviewed mattresses in hotels. Everyone has their own preference. We also have mattress pads, which do help a little bit with softness. I will make sure that our cleaners are keeping these on the bed. Unfortunately, this is the first concern we’ve had about the mattresses being too hard in over four years of hosting. I don’t discount your concern at all, and I will make certain that we have good thick quality mattress pads, which will enhance softness on top of the firm mattresses. I certainly hope that you can come back to our property again and we enjoyed hosting you. We love sharing our house with other people as we truly think it is a very special place.

My husband and I stayed at Brian and Michelle’s beautiful home for three weeks, and it truly felt like our home away from home. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had found a special place.Brian and Michelle were fantastic hosts. They were incredibly responsive, and whenever I had a question, they answered right away. It made our stay so easy and enjoyable.We loved starting our mornings with coffee on the front deck, surrounded by the beautiful trees and peaceful setting. The house was stocked with everything we needed, and we especially enjoyed relaxing in the jacuzzi and sauna every day. It was exactly the kind of place where you can slow down, relax, and truly unwind.The location was perfect. We were only about 15 minutes from Durango, yet the house is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by trees. We loved the peacefulness while still being close to everything. One of our favorite parts was hearing and seeing the Durango-Silverton train go by several times throughout the day. It added such a fun and memorable experience to our stay!The home is very spacious and would be wonderful for a larger family or several couples. There was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the house comfortably.We were genuinely sad to leave, but we are already looking forward to coming back! We would absolutely recommend Brian and Michelle’s home to our friends and family. It was the perfect place for us to relax, recharge, and enjoy beautiful Durango.

We spent an amazing time at this lovely home just north of Durango. It was well appointed, clean, and is loaded with amenities to make our stay wonderful. Our hosts provided excellent communication and updates throughout our stay. We had absolutely no issues or complaints and will definitely stay here again!

The host was amazing! Communication was so helpful since none of us had been there before. The home was very well stocked for 6 adults and varying children… plenty to do! The home was perfectly located in the middle between the mountains and being downtown! We would absolutely do here again!

Great family house!

The location of the house was perfect! Right across 550 is James Ranch which is very casual for dinner, and has music Tuesday and Thurs nights. Haviland Lake is about 15 minutes north where we paddled boarded, kayaked, swam and hiked with our dogs. We absolutely loved Durango! Brian was very responsive and a great host. Having the grill was wonderful. The house fit our needs very well.

Spring break ski trip

We had a wonderful stay here for skiing at spring break. The distance to the mountain was close as well as a couple of restaurants and a grocery store close by if we needed to make a quick run for something. They house was very comfortable and had absolutely everything we needed. Lots of nice extra touches for guests (kids bunk bed room!) We enjoyed the hot tub and pool table and comfy beds! We love the Durango area in all seasons and would definitely stay here again in the future! It’s a great place!

Perfect Getaway

This property has it ALL and is in the perfect location if you are wanting to go to town and ski! The home has the perfect about of privacy for multiple families. Everyone had their own bathroom and space to rest if needed. The hot tub was fun after we skied all day. The property was very nice and clean. The kitchen has everything you need to cook. We will be back! Thank you for a wonderful mini vacay!

Great for a multiple families

Layout was perfect for our group. Multiple families each had their own space. One in the basement, one on the main level master, and my wife and I were connected to the bunk room with a Jack-and-Jill. Kitchen was well stocked and communication with the host was instant. Property is in a quiet neighborhood halfway between Durango and Purgatory. Great stay!

Durango Home

This house was perfect for our group of ten. There was plenty of space for us and plenty of community spaces as well. The location is great as well. Just a quick trip to downtown Durango. There is a beautiful ranch just minutes away. They serve their grass feed beef and make their own cheese. I would highly recommend visiting the ranch at least once. We went twice :)

Beautiful property, excellent location!

This is a fantastic property for any large groups looking for a place to land after an eventful outing! If it’s apres ski, or after hiking around Mesa Verde, this house will satisfy even the pickiest of guests. Large hot tub, sauna, tons of sleeping space, games, books, TRAEGER GRILL, and a professional oven/range in the kitchen will keep anyone happy and occupied (not to mention the numerous smart TVs for those preferring to wind down with a show!). Fruits trees, beautiful landscaping, and so close to the Durango/Silverton train. The host is incredibly responsive, and took care of the one issue we had immediately. Don’t miss this one!

Durango ski trip

We just checked out of The Bair's Den and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The house was everything and more of what was advertised and exceeded our expectations. The cleanliness and comfort were superb, and the extra niceties made our stay like a home away from home. The kitchen was well stocked and included a nice assortment of cocoa and coffee. The beds were comfortable with great linens and plenty of blankets. We had the unexpected surprise of multiple streaming services (Netflix, Roku, etc.) which was great. Playing pool after a long day of skiing was a great way to spend an evening. The only thing that wasn't mentioned in the ad (but we were informed prior to arrival) was that during winter conditions a 4WD vehicle is required to access the property. I'm looking forward to staying here again - especially after the upcoming renovations. Wonderful stay and trip!

Great property and very attentive host!

Overall, we quite enjoyed our stay in Durango. Leading up to it and during our stay the host was very communicative. He let me know up front that there was some construction/updates going on with the property, some of which were not going to be completed before we arrived (paint, some bathroom updates) due to weather. The house was very spacious and well appointed, the hot tub was well enjoyed, and the neighborhood and grounds were great. The only issue we had was there were quite a few cobwebs and such on the outside (mostly gave the ladies pause), exposed electrical wires in one suite (canned light not yet installed) and some electrical outlets in a bathroom did not work due to construction. The owner was very understanding and accommodating when I informed him. I believe this will be an amazing property when they complete the updates, and would definitely consider it when we come back for another visit.

I apologize that they were exposed wires at your visit.. my contractor assured me that this would be fixed before your arrival. This was unacceptable and not up to our standards. All the cobwebs have been removed as a house has now been completely repainted on the outside. I hope the refund helps for the inconvenience. We will ensure a walk-through by our top cleaning staff before guests arrive to avoid the situation in the future.

As a retired military family we have travelled a great deal. Mountain areas are where we feel the most at peace. When the opportunity arose for a home in Durango we were thrilled to be able to purchase this awesome property.
We hope to have this be our forever home but are not fully retired from work life (yet!). We have been renting homes, lofts, villas or condo's for about 20 years for our own vacations and much prefer the experience to the large hotel experience. If you are new to the experience we hope you will love it and come back again and again.

Our family has loved Colorado for many many years. We have a lot of memories of Colorado and have looked for a long time for a property to continue this tradition. The name of the home is in honor of family members who are no longer with us but who would have loved being here.

We love to be able to spread out when we wish or to be able to have a place to be when quiet is desired. With 3 stories of rooms, 3 outdoor areas and nearby activities this is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation.
Nestled on a large lot with spruce, aspen and apple trees in a quiet neighborhood the home offers some glimpses of the surrounding mountains, wildlife and the train.
Wood beams and large windows give the feel of a true mountain home.
The distances listed on VRBO are incorrect for the purgatory resort. I’ve tried to get them to change this, but they apparently cannot. We are 15 minutes from purgatory and also 15 minutes from Durango. Not 49 minutes as VRBO has listed.
