Our stay was everything we dreamed of. No complaints whatsoever. Only steps to the beach through cool foliage surrounding the compound. Beautiful large pool looked after early every morning by an onsite person. Just a fantastic experience

The description of the amount of beds was not accurate. There will only 9 beds upon arrival, but they did solve the issue the next day. The house was clean, concierge extremely helpful, and the beach is essentially private. Great waves right outside the house.

Such a wonderfulProperty. We stayed with two other families with lots of space and a giant pool and so close to the beach!Our communication with property manager, sher was beyond exceptional. We will be re booking asap!

Great stay and the host resolved all issues quicklyI’ll start with the issues, but I would stay here again.Washer and Dryer - The description says that there is a washer and dryer. That’s incorrect and host claimed that the extra charge laundry service was the same. When pushed, the host agreed to pay to have our laundry done.Crabs and racoon - Every night the crabs come in. They are creepy and one even ended up in our bedroom. That’s not a host problem, it’s just what comes with the beachfront location. There was also a racoon, who was not too afraid of people who wanted to join the party. Kitchen - No paper towels or even salt and pepper and a lot of ants. Check out - Host was not on-site at checkout.Now, the good stuff…Host was super responsive and helpful. The beach is steps from the property and super nice. The pool is well maintained and has shade. The AC works well, we did have issues with one, but the host resolved it within hours.Overall, great property with a good host. I would stay here again.

Place is nice. If you are 3 couples staying the main house it will be fine. With more people, needing to occupy the guesthouse, be advised that it is not up to the same standard and in need of a reno. The view of the beach is limited unless you are on the elevated balcony of the guesthouse. The Staff were helpful but they were walking on eggshells.
Access to the "guesthouse" is over grass and not well illuminated at night.

Dear travelers; As you will notice; there is a dramatic contrast between Mr. Gagne's 6 point rating and those of our other very satisfied guests. The only explanation that comes to mind could be our refusal to comply to Mr. Gagne's strange request that we invite their entire group of 10 to a farewell dinner at a restaurant in Tamarindo. Mr. Gagne was quite insistent on it. Casa Velas' main house and guest house where completely remodeled in 2024.

This place is great, would definitely stay here again, hated to leave. Absolutely loved all the help from Sher, Alicira, Roger and Raquel. Beautiful location and perfect for our family vacation. Can't wait to come back.

We had an amazing stay! Sher was wonderful she helped with any little thing. Rodger was friendly and so helpful everyday.We had three teenagers and five adults - with grandparents. All the accommodations were exceptional - we all had our own space and air conditioning in the rooms. Ana cooked for us the first night and it was delicious and very reasonably priced- we should have had more dinners!The outdoor living space was great - lots of space to spread out and very comfortable. The beach was only steps away and had chairs right there.We had the best family visit and would love to return to this very house. Everything was exceptional!

Casa Velas is a beautiful home with direct access to the lovely Playa Grande. It is the best of both worlds, a beach with very few people and the ability to enjoy the lively beach town of Tamarindo.

Simply perfect…steps from the beach, well taken care of and secure. Team onsite and host took excellent care of our family with fresh cooked meals, rentals and any last minute needs. Do Not stay in Tamarindo as it’s a dirty tourist trap, this is a beautiful spot sitting on four miles of uncrowded beach. We can hardly wait to come back, thanks!

Casa Velas is a large property and the location in terms of beach access is excellent. However, you should definitely get a car if you are staying here. Restaurants, stores, etc. are quite a hike if you want to walk.The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. The space was nice and clean when we arrived, but on the last day we found socks under one of the beds that did not belong to anyone in our party. The bathrooms have only body wash, no shampoo or conditioner provided.The "open air" living space cannot really be enjoyed as such. We left the doors open to have that experience the first day, and then the furniture was all overtaken by ants. We closed the doors the rest of our stay to keep them out.The couches are very saggy and not comfortable to sit on very long.At night, the outside space gets completely taken over by crabs and raccoons. We found both entertaining, but if this would make you uncomfortable, this is not the place for you.The concierge service was disappointing. We requested groceries to be stocked when we arrived, but the concierge Sher had forgotten. She went out immediately to get the groceries, but only got about half of what we needed. We found an external service to deliver groceries after that. House rules state new towels every 3-4 days, but on day 5 we had to ask for them, and they did not take any of the used towels when they were delivered. Also, the washer and dryer are not available for you to use - you have to pay them to do it.

This house is awesome and truly feels like it's in the jungle on the beach! We stayed for 4 days for a group of 10 and we all felt very comfortable. One room has two queens and two twins to accommodate a much larger group or if you brought kids. If you surf, it couldn't be better. The house is directly on the beach a few steps from the water and a short walk to Tamarindo. It also has a beautiful huge pool that is cleaned every day by on-site help. We highly recommend to use their chef Ana for meals and pre-order all of your groceries for delivery by her. Local neighborhood restaurants are within walking distance also. All bedrooms have AC plus nice bathrooms. The roads coming in our gravel or dirt, but give the house a real tropical remote feel. Working with their property manager Sher was a real treat also. Just great service all around. Couldn't recommend it more!

The home was amazing. Highly recommend. Location was fantastic. It is not highly populated which we loved. We did not have a car but managed walking places. There were 11 women staying at the house. We all had room to spread out and had ample seating towels etc. Many women walked to the water taxis to tamarindo daily or the longer 45min walk to playa grande.Bugs and animals were not an issue. We did see many crabs and raccoons. The beach was fantastic. Love love loved the sunsets.We hired cooks and got the groceries delivered. It was excellent food and plenty of it all week.Definitely would recommend!

Great Getaway

Casa Velas was delightful and the proximity to the pool and beach was perfect for us with young children. They communicated well and you must have Darling cook for you. It made the whole trip relaxing and delicious. Its not the Hilton and bring bug spray, but we all loved it. It was a great way to celebrate a birthday and family.

Second Stay, Just as Magical!

This was my second stay and 9 years later, it was just as perfect as I remembered. It’s worth every penny and more. Ideal for everything from a big family trip to a romantic getaway, I truly can’t recommend this place highly enough!

Beautiful Beach Location

This review is for the property, which was as advertised. All spaces are thoughtfully furnished, comfortable, and well-maintained. The outside areas are remarkable and beautiful with mere footsteps to a beautiful beach. The owner and her staff were accommodating and supported us when we needed information or assistance (e.g., language translations, transportation, etc.). Our grandkids LOVED the beach and pool. We all loved quality family time in a beautiful place.

Amazing Property

Imagine an almost private beach with an amazing large property thriving with wildlife and lush gardens and lovely staff who are responsive and almost invisible…. This place is awesome!

Family getaway

Check in and communication was well organized and easy. The place was in a wonderful location - right on the beach and also had a big pool the adult kids quite enjoyed. We will definitely recommend to friends and hopefully make it back again :)

Fun in the sun

The property is an amazing location, beautiful beach almost to yourself. The high light of our stay was the chef and property caretaker. They were so friendly and helpful with anything we asked. The meals were so delicious.
